I just got the message about Rothbury offering a 2 day ticket (sat, sun). Do you think it is because their ticket sales are down from last year? Or do you think it's a good idea to offer a limited ticket? It's $150.00

What about the people who purchased their tickets early? Do they get to trade their tickets in now for a 2 day ticket. This either is horrible planning (meaning they just thought of this now) or a kinda creative desperate move for ticket sales.
6/18: Phish in Hartford 6/25: Phish in Camden 7/2-7/4: Nateva 7/17: God Street Wine at Irving Plaza 7/23-7/25: String Cheese at Red Rocks!! 8/17-8/18: Phish at Jones Beach 9/3: Rush at PNC
This Bonnaroo lineup is in dire need of some Rush.
if i were to be able to do even 2 days of roth... yeah, I'd do Cheese>Dead
Honestly if that was an option and I could leave Sunday I would be all over it. They did something like that at Trinumeral where you paid full price but could leave and get a refund on Saturday before 4.
How, I'd jump at that price in a heart beat, if I were closer and weren't going to Roo... I mean, Roth's lineup's really not too great, but the fest itself looks... gorgeous.
Rothbury officials say new two-day pass is not response to slow ticket sales by John Sinkevics | The Grand Rapids Press Monday April 27, 2009, 5:38 PM
Rothbury organizers insisted the cheaper option isn't a response to slumping ticket sales but rather demand for a two-day option.
"We have had a huge number of people contact us, especially people in Michigan, who said they would love to go to Rothbury but can't swing the full four days," event producer Jeremy Stein said. "With July 4 falling on Saturday, it seemed like a great idea to offer a two-day ticket."
The reunited remaining members of The Grateful Dead will headline Saturday night's lineup, with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson and Family closing out the festival Sunday.
Kevin Murphy, station manager for Grand Rapids' WYCE-FM (88.1), which plays music by many of the Rothbury artists, said that with several older acts on the bill, the two-day pass might appeal to older concertgoers who don't want to camp for four days on the ranch.
"It is a bit of an unusual lineup overall," Murphy said.
Other acts to appear at Rothbury include The String Cheese Incident, The Black Crowes, Broken Social Scene, The Hold Steady, Gov't Mule, Les Claypool, Toots and the Maytals, Son Volt, G. Love and Special Sauce, Guster, Ani DiFranco, Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley and Nas, and dozens more.
Although the final performance schedule hasn't been released, Rothbury also announced this week that The String Cheese Incident would headline festival offerings on July 3, a Friday.
Just posting an article. Those aren't my words. Every fest has slower sales this year. Selling one or two day tickets just makes good economical sense.

I hate festival wars. Every festival is different and everyone has a different reason for going. in 5 years I bet people will be complaining about Rothbury getting too big and having too many sponsors......and then talking about some NEW festival that blows roth out of the water lol. By then Roo will be a corporate giant owned by MTV and headliners include the reunited jonas brothers, madonna, and Creed
