Eat right, lots of complex carbs and leafy greens and you won't need an energy drink, funny how the whole energy drink and supersize things happened at about the same time in American History. But if you must, use a sugar-free, high B vitamin drink like 5hr. But make sure you eat something with it, cuz b-12 only helps with metabolism, it doesn't fuel it. Also, B-12 will be more effective if used daily, as it metabolism in the human body is complex. worst come to worst, use caffeine.
Cocaine/No Name tastes like SHIT. Although I did save the can I bought from before they changed the name to "No Name". I found it in some little hole in the wall convenience store down the street from Enchanted Planet in Murfreesboro, I think.
Tore up and set my throat on fire for a good hour, I'd say.
I've tried dozens of different energy drinks. They are virtually all simply variations on the red bull recipe (sugar, caffeine, b12's, taurine, glucuronolactone), with the X-hour energy shots basically just axing the sugar.
By far and away the best energy drink I've tried is Endorush.
It offers a true improvement over the standard energy drink formula (check the ingredients list) and the effects are startling. This nuts does not mess around! It's sugar free and actually tastes good to boot.
(The label is a bit ridiculous tho. Literally half of it is a list of warnings! Most of my friends have been too scared by that to even try it!)
I'll be packing as many of these for Bonnaroo as I can comfortably fit in my luggage.
P.S. I have no affiliation with the makers of this product. Here's some more info on it from a bodybuilding supplement review site where the reviewer had a similar enthusiastic reaction to it:
there is ZERO crash with 5 hr energy. It is all B12, so its a natural substance unlike caffeine
....
okay, there is something that's been bothering me for quite a while, now. A lot of people seem to be under the impression that if something is natural, it is good for you and if it is synthetic, it is bad for you. To these people, I say: strychnine, cyanide, opium, tobacco. On the other hand, sunscreen, antibiotics, acid, thrash metal.
5 hour energy shots are definitely the way to go. They aren't bad for you, as they are natural, and have no crash effect after they wear off. I have been using them for a couple of years and they are true to what they advertise.
Yup, they're legit. I travel all over the country for my job and these are great for late night drives. They don't just boost your energy, but also kind of clear up that sleep-dep related fuzz from your mind.
