can't imagine they are going to be that particular about the alcohol, like others have said the new limits are just to cut down on the unauthorized vending, if it's just two people bringing in 20 cases you might have a problem now, otherwise i wouldn't worry about it.
consider it more of a guideline - fact it should be a rule: each person MUST bring 3 cases and 2 handles
(i just have to figure out how to get it all on the plane now)
lol - well here's a strategy for you. last year i had two glass handles in the center of my duffle bag, wrapped in my inflatable air mattress. it protected it well, there was no breakage while on the plane and i was able to happily drink my margaritas upon arrival

Honestly, 3 cases and the booze is more than enough. Especially if you're traveling with a group. My brother and I are headed down with our wives and another couple. Not everyone in a group is gonna drink a maximum allowable amount.

I did that when I was a little kid once. I ran inside after playing basketball or something and was thirsty as a mug. Then I drank the entire Jack n Coke my ma left on the counter. I dont remember being drunk though, which sucks. It was only one drink, but still, I should have gotten drunk from it. I was only like 8 or 9 at the time.
plan to meet/ exceed this limit. im flying solo and theres no way i will drink that much. im doing it for the good of the community. i'm going to do plenty of sharing, so stop by and grab some drink with me.
yeah good god, i go with the 30 packs of pbr, and the plastic handles of ron rico (i'm a poor college student, i gotta cut costs just to attend). but there's no way i'm drinking 90 beers and 3.5 liters of rum in four days... the 90 beers alone will be challenge enough if i actually wanna make it to ANY shows whatsoever.

Well if you did drink 90 beers and 3.5 liters, there wouldn't be any need to see any shows, you wouldn't remember them anyway. You could just arrange ahead of time to have a friend tell you, Monday morning, that you'd had a blast all weekend, even though you'd never left camp, and you'd be none the wiser.

Since this is the booze related thread... I wont have a cooler so what are everyones recomendations for booze that still tastes ok warm, assuming its gonna be hot when we're there. Im looking for spirits as they minimise pissage. Also whats the deal with wine, because red wine is good warm an it does the job
I prefer scotch at room temp generally. No ice, no water, just take it off the shelf and pour it in the cup. Most whiskys are best at room temp in my opinion, but be careful as they can sneak up on ya fast if you'all aren't used to drinking real alcohol and normally only drink beer or wine. Any hard liquor will probably be fine. Famous Grouse is a moderately priced acceptable-tasting blended scotch that is commonly available here in the states from liquor stores (and also very common in the UK, and they seem identical to my taste buds). Whisky also produces much less hangover effect for me than beer or wine. You may have to transfer it to a plastic container.
Red wine is best at room temp also, but in the heat with the dancing and camping and food, I bet ya a diet of red wine would destroy your digestion and have you spening way more time in the portas than you would prefer. If you go this route, you could get a box of wine (some of it the box stuff is still basically ok wine for something like 'roo).
White wine and most beers are kind of nasty warm...
Thick hefty stouts are ok warm. But I think even the thickest are supposed to be served at 60 degress farenheit at the highest and closer to 45-50 degrees f. I think.
Hmm.. Well, I think even the red wine and the stouts will be a good deal warmer than you would prefer for them to taste good. Guiness in the can is widely available here but at 90 degrees it might be kinda nasty. 60 yeah, but 90 seems iffy.
Seems to me hard liquor is the best option if you've got no possible cooler solution.

Also a good idea - the little airplane mini bottles. Most are plastic, and you can toss a couple in your bag before going into centeroo. Plus you have more options for variety.... AND you can refill them. I live in TN and they're generally $1 ea, which is worth it to me on convenience alone.

This worked in '03. My girlfriend put about 8 beers in the bottom of her bag, covered it with a t-shirt and then places 7-8 tampax on top of then. Then she simply found the youngest guy searching bags, and viola. As soon as he saw the tampax he let her right through. Piece o cake.
In '04, me and my bud were leaving camp. We wanted a cold one for the walk so camp guy 1 tosses us the full water bottle he had just taken out of the cooler. He had planned on pouring that over our poor lobster red friend camp guy #2 who foolishly had not worn sunscreen the day before.
He reached back in and pulled out a half empty bottle which didn't have water in it.. turns out it wasn't water, it was rum!
It burns! It burns!!!!!!!

hahaha, liquor on sunburn. aloe vera is the way to go. I think it's just easier to sneak in some liquor and get a few beers as needed inside. but that's me.

Cheers mate, I was definately planning on fillng my liquor quota and Im English so I'm certainly not new to drinking (we can buy 'legally' 18 but usually start much earlier). Just interested on peoples thoughts. Oh and will they class wine as liquor i.e. I can only bring 3.5l of it and in place of the hard stuff or can I bring it on top of the 3.5l?

People actually get in with Pringles? We were hassled for granola bars last year every time we went in! I might try the tampon thing this year...for my granola bars!
11 am? Sheet man last year we pulled in to our site in BFE at 6am Thursday morning, sun was barely up yet, and there were drunk people EVERYWHERE. The first things our neighbors set up was the shade canopy and the folding beirut table. And started a game. At 6:30am.

Can someone please tell me where they are getting the info on this new alcohol limit? I've scoured the official site & can't find any info on it, but I'm assuming I'm looking in the wrong place?
