So is hippie basically saying that she won't be able to close out this run-off until Friday morning?
And why is wooz trying to throw us into a second run-off? I'm gonna go ahead and change my vote from sadie to fishingmaniac. Unless someone else has a change they want to make, that should be the end of it (you know, two days from now).
Hippie is saying she'll have permanent home internet on Friday morning - in the meantime, she's been using wifi at a coffee shop. I believe things will get smoother, as they usually do as we get deeper into a game.
There's twelve of us in on this, and everyone was asked about possibly being Referee. Eight of you flat-out refused to even think about it. Three of us (myself, Bek & Handgun) said "I suppose I can ref, but only if nobody else says they will..."
Then there's Hippie, who's doing a job the majority of you wouldn't even consider, and I'm getting private complaints about the situation. From people who wouldn't touch the job with a ten-foot pole... To you, I say: whatever happened to "If you want a job done right, do it yourself?" You had that chance, and you passed. From people whose own schedules were worked around to get this game going. All the sudden it's a problem when eleven of us are waiting out someone else's conflict instead of your own? It strikes me like a non-voter complaining about election results.
Just out of curiosity... am I also the only player who has submitted a death story?
Without further adieu, here's our... Vote Tally Fishingmaniac: 6 votes Bek: 5 votes

^^^given what kdogg has just put forth - I am please asking the mafia or the townspeople - please kill me off and let me out of this game during the next round.

Why the hell does everyone always vote for me. Bek said she thought I was innnocent and then went on to try to have me kill myself and since that didn't work proceeded to vote for me. How does that not sound like mafia? She is admittedly going after an innocent townsperson!
Seriously people. We may all be innocent, but if anybody in this round has done anything that appears calculated and sketchy it's Bek. I'm only trying to save myself, but I'm not going after somebody who's innocent I declared earlier like Bek is. She tried to get me to off myself for cryin' out loud. I mean really. This makes no sense.
I'm not trying to scare anyone out the game... I'm just advocating a little bit of patience. From the sounds of it, Hippie's net situation will only be for another two days. We just had a player go five days without a post, so it's not even like we were held up waiting on Hippie. I just haven't seen any instances of her internet situation affecting the game play thus far.

I pretty much agree here for the most part. Hippie's lack of internet while being ref hasn't delayed us much more than maybe a day, if that. I'm just confused why people feel the need to privately complain to kdogg about something which he really has no control over anyways. It's not like kdogg has the power to change hippie's schedule or internet woes, and he's surely not going to just switch out the refs. This game started 7 days ago, 4 of which wooz was out of town so there was nothing that anyone could do about it.
And kdogg you're the only one to submit a death story because you're the only non-procrastinator here! I for one was gonna wait until a round was about to end, which I guess is nowish... so perhaps I'll get on that, but now that I know you've already submitted one maybe I can wait til the next round.... ;D
and Meg... what would you be doing if you weren't playing Mafia right now? I'm just gonna assume that you would still be checking Inforoo every day, right? What's one thread which you have to check each day really doing to your time? I'm going to say that from the start of this game to now - a 7 day period - I have probably spent a total of 30 minutes in this thread, the majority of which has been on this post. It's really not as time consuming as you're making it sound, and it's not like it's the only reason you're logging into Inforoo. Part of the mafia game and figuring out who is/isn't mafia is by seeing who is voted off at night. Rigging it so that they vote you off doesn't tell the townspeople shit about who could possibly be mafia, other than it's probably not you. But that's just my take on it... I just don't get why one round into it you would suddenly not want to play anymore. It really takes a total of like 5 minutes a day at most if you're really involved in reading over the entire thread, which I'm sure you can spare.

The big weekend is finally here. Fishingmaniac has been waiting for hours in his car alongside the highway, waiting to get into the farm. Finally, it is his turn to pass through the security check. No firearms, fireworks or glass bottles are discovered; the security volunteer slams his trunk shut and Fishingmaniac is cleared to go into Bonnaroo. He drives where directed and pulls into his site to begin to set up camp. There's a surprise in store when the trunk is opened. An explosive, planted there at the security check, goes off. The vehicle is engulfed in a cloud of smoke. Nearby tents, just set up, are thrown into the air, whirling around in mini-tornadoes created by the blast. In a nearby campsite, some fellow campers are erecting a flagpole when the blast occurs. They are first surprised by the explosion nearby... but even more surprised when Fishingmaniac's head lands atop their pole, forming the most grotesque bobble head Bonnaroo has ever seen.
Day 1 ends, night 1 begins...

I'm sorry to those who have secretly been complaining about my reffing abilities. But considering I've been doing the majority of this from my blackberry, I'd say I'm not doing too badly. I apologize for holding the game up at any point, but life happens.
I'm doing my best to keep up, and I would hope that everyone continues to play. Opting out after all the planning that went into this, especially so soon into the game, really kind of ruins everyone else's fun, and definitely makes it harder for at least the townspeople.
In the end, this is JUST the internet. It's here for our entertainment, and so far I think the game has been pretty entertaining. I enjoy having EVERYONE back because you all know how to really get into it. So let's just try continuing the game as normal now that the holiday is behind us, and everyone is back...ok?
# 1 - I am the one that pm'd kdogg - I was ranting and thought I was ranting to someone who would take it as just that - a rant and not really bitching and complaining
# 2 - I did not Ann Coulter or complain about hippie's reffing - I questioned her reffing this game because I also knew HGH had offered to ref and that hippie was reffing another game AND was without internet. i don't really care how anyone refs a game as long as the votes get tallied and we move the game along
# 3 Strum - sorry you think I am being a debbie dower about this. You're right - I am on Inforoo wasting time alot - this is just another thread to check
My biggest issue here at the moment is that everyone - because no one but kdogg and I knew what was discussed - is making out that whoever complained to him privately - (wait - did I say PRIVATELY? - hint hint kdogg) was bitching about hippie reffing skills.
I have no problem with the reffing skills - see # 2 above
now - if the mafia wants to vote me off - so be it - if I get voted off during the day so be it.
at least I'll be in good company with the phishman

Well, ftr I'm not hurt by anything, nor do I harbor any negative feelings towards anyone. I know it was a little slow-going in the beginning bc of my lack of internet, and I apologize.
But I like having all the original folks back, and I really want everyone to continue playing . I think the first round is a bit boring regardless, and I forsee the game picking up after we know mafia's kill and go into the next round. We'd really like to keep you on, meg. I hope you want to keep playing
I will say that I may be a bit absentee saturday, as I'm going back to austin to do a final cleaning on my apartment before my lease is up. Other than that I'll be here, and with a permanent internet connection(thank god!).

Hippie, I didn't mean to imply that you weren't doing a good job. Obviously I didn't even fully understand what was going on. I think you're doing a fine job, and I appreciate you stepping up and reffing when I certainly didn't have the time or patience to.

Now that we've gotten that all cleared up, can we please get rid of that absurd lure? Scrolling sideways just to read what people are saying is more annoying than waiting for wooz to get back from a 5 day weekend!

this.
Oh Gawd! Thank you! I had to log off for a while because it was driving me crazy.
Yeah, that was my death story. I hope it was sufficiently gruesome for Fishingmaniac.
Oh, and as long as I'm posting... I probably won't be around much Friday. Going to see NIN down in Chicago. Sammy, you going by any chance? I know you're in the area and, as I recall, nearly went to Lollapalooza.

That was flippin' insane... all of it.
Thank you guys for keeping me alive this round, I hope I can just avoid the mafia tonight!
And what's with all the bad vibes, people? Relax, it's only a game and remember bonnaroo is in two weeks! Everyone just needs a big bonnahug!!
*edit: I just submitted my death story. You'll know it when you see it... it's the one that is short and lame. I hate death stories... I never even read them but I know how it is to ref.

THE MAFIA HAVE SPOKEN!
Kdogg was standing in the middle of the Phish show late Friday night at Bonnaroo. Right in the middle of Harry Hood an enormous glowstick war erupts from the crowd. Kdogg is overjoyed at the sight and can't help but look straight up as glowsticks rain all over the entire crowd. As he turns around to see the glowsticks behind him he notices a rather large glowstick coming from the ferris wheel. As it gets closer over the crowd he notices that it is indeed not a glowstick at all, but rather a javelin with glowsticks strapped to it. Before Kdogg can leap out of the way, the javelin comes spearing down and pins him to the ground while the crowd is to overwhelmed by the music and their interpretive dancing to even notice, other than to take the glowsticks off the spear and add them to the massive glowstick war.
A reminder to us all, please don't throw glowsticks at festivals. They can kill people when strapped to a spear and thrown into the crowd!

BTW...I want to give credit to death story writers, but I know some people may not want it. If everyone's cool with it, I'll be sure to add in the author at the end.

Hmmm... so Bek saved fishman the first go on voting (and reasonably explained, in my opinion), and then Wooz tried to save fishman in the runoff by voting for Bek... Why all the interest in prolonging fishman's life from multiple parties?
I don't have any theories on this at the moment... just pointing out an observation that I found somewhat interesting. It's too bad all those efforts to save the fishman didn't pay off... or is it!?
