Do you watch any professional tennis? yes. i do not watch a TON of sports on tv, but i do occasionally watch some tennis.
If so:
Favorite male and female player?
when i was growing up my mom and i watched a lot of tennis and golf on tv. b/c of monica seles, for years i was convinced you could only win if you grunted really loud while hitting the ball.
favorite male tennis player right now is roger federer.
Are you excited for the U.S. Open? yes, just hoping that different people win, than those who just won the medals.
If I ever started an all-encompassing tennis thread, would anyone give a sh*t or would I be the only one posting in it? maybe start a "sports white people watch" thread and include golf??
I know that negatives tend to be focused on in education, but do you have an extremely positive episode that you could share? i had a student my first year when i taught 2nd grade, who had been placed with an extended family member by CPS b/c his parents were unable to care for him. the relative he was put with took care of the child, made sure he was fed and clothed. when the school year started to wind down, it was at a point where they were considering letting the parents have the little boy back. they were not ready. they put the little boy in a terrible position, asked him to lie and make up things about the relative taking care of him that simply weren't true. after the cps worker contacted me, i became aware of what was going on and as i helped the student through what was going on, i kept reminding him how important it was to be honest and tell the truth. that he was NOT in trouble in any way and sometimes even if mom and dad love us a whole lot, they are sick and just can't take care of us. they were so out of it, they didn't realize that not only would the lies NOT get him back with them, but he would be taken away from his relative and placed in foster care. he eventually told the truth to the cps worker and unfortunately that's what happened. but i knew in my heart for the first time, what an impact (which is fucking scary to be real!) i can have on these little minds. i have a saying in my class that goes:
if it's not your's, don't touch it. if it's not your's, don't take it. if it's not true, don't say it. if it's not right, don't do it.
i hope that i am helping to mold these children into adults that are competent, happy and not a burden on society. we shall see if it happens! haha
Who is your favorite Bluth?

Do you think we'll find (or be found by) sentient life in our lifetimes? nope, not in our lifetime. but i do think we will get rid of paper money before we die. haha.
All time favorite fictional alien?

now:
(Also, I would post occasionally in a Tennis thread Glenn) there you go glenn! that makes three of us now.
Are you doing anything crazy fun to mark the end of your summer? not really, i've been gone a lot this summer, which is exactly what i like. longest stretch i was home in between going out of town was 10 days. i only have 12 days left before i go back to work. i may be ambitious and try and go to the beach next week with my friend ernest, but we will see.
i did go to canyon lake last weekend with a group of friends. we rented a house and grilled, drank, swam etc.
Do you hate back to school commercials more than little kids do? the only ones i've seen thanks to my dvr are the target ones (which i like b/c they have funny music) but the worst is going into the stores around the beginning of july and seeing the school supply aisle. boooooooooo
What do you do while the kids are at recess? i sit there and make sure they do not kill themselves and/or others.
Thumbs up for the Torchy's plug. I'm more of a Kerbey Lane type than Magnolia. i like kerbey just fine, but i am very much a loyal magnolia fan.
Who are you skipping The Stooges for? Is it Willis Earl Beal, Old 97's or The Avetts? the avetts. i guess i could go see the stooges just to say i went, but i seriously could give a shit about listening to their set.

You should swing by (depending on stage location of course) just to see Iggy still living and breathing and moving about. He's like an old man robot now...

Why are you pointing at your boobs? boooooooooooooobs
My brother and I were at ACL in '07. Ben Folds actually had the window seat in our row for the Nashville>Austin flight. True story.
Like you, I thought Arcade Fire's set was flippin' awesome. (Was the first time I ever saw 'em live, and they made a believer out of me.) Aside from AF, my top five sets that weekend were:
1) Wilco 2) LCD Soundsystem 3) The National 4) Damien Rice 5) Bjork
Questions #1A and 1B: Were you at any of those sets; if so, what are your memories?
Question #2: Were you at the Pete Yorn afternoon set when the vendor RV exploded, and started a full-on forest fire less than 200 yards from the stage he was playing on?
Questions #3A and 3B: Did you catch any of Dylan's SUN night closing set; if so, could you understand even one single word he was singing?
Questions #4A and 4B: On some minute chance, did you happen to be walking near the Zilker entrance cab corral immediately following Dylan's encore, when a porto with an unfortunate gentleman inside tipped straight over backwards onto the ground? If so, do you recall him flinging open the door --visibly nonplussed-- and then climbing out, as Dracula would his casket at sundown?
Bonus Essay Question: What were your five favorite sets of that weekend, and why?

1) What is your job title?
2) What will your job title be in 10 years, realistically?
3) I am your long lost relative living in Nigeria and have been given a large inheritance. I just need you to give me $1,000 to get it transferred to a safe place, then I will split the money with you. Will you help me?
What are blurgh and sickity sick? Do you know where the world's largest frying pan is? Did you know we have an extra bedroom for those on the frying pan pilgrimage?

haha i love you and bob!
1. if you could take the green corner camping anywhere, where would we go?
well if i could host you guys on a campout in texas we would go here:
but if i could take us ANYWHERE to camp. hmmmm probably here: \
the galapagos islands. i've never camped on the beach before! plus the animals there are basically the discovery channel live.
2. what is your favorite dinner side? (ie french fries, mac & cheese, etc.) rudy's creamed corn is the best side in texas, so delicious:
but in general i would say i love a good side salad with some ranch.
3. what is your most favorite t-shirt you've ever owned? i wish i had a great answer here for some tshirt i've had for 15 years but that's not the case. i'm going to answer this super boring and say my favorite tshirt is the boyfriend T from target, b/c it is awesome and comes in 8 million colors.
4. if you could trade places and live as one person from history for a day, who would you choose and why?
salvador dali. the surrealist movement is one of my favorites (art history nerd what what) and this guy was a total pioneer and freak. to spend a day with his imagination would be wild.
here's one of my favorite pieces by dali:
5. if you could have ANY animal as a class pet (in a perfect world where anything would be safe for the kiddos) which would you choose?
just kidding sharks scare the fuck out of me.
but to be honest i would love to be able to have a dog or cat in the classroom. simple, but i think that would be the most beneficial. learning how to take care of a pet is a big deal IMO. when i see a someone who has a pet (or pets) but can hardly scrape by in providing for the humans in their family it makes me sad. pets are a responsibility that shouldn't be taken lightly. allowing the kids to understand how much work/time/money goes into being a good pet owner is important.
i've had rats as class pets the past two years. everyone freaks out when i tell them, but they are actually really cute and the kids LOVE them. they are pretty smart as well. one died last year, so i only have one left and after she dies i'm not getting another. i learned my own lesson, b/c they were WAY too much work. hahaha
1) What is your job title? prekindergarten teacher
2) What will your job title be in 10 years, realistically? probably the same thing with a different grade in front of it.
3) I am your long lost relative living in Nigeria and have been given a large inheritance. I just need you to give me $1,000 to get it transferred to a safe place, then I will split the money with you. Will you help me?
What are blurgh and sickity sick? words used to express disdain or grossedoutness. haha
Do you know where the world's largest frying pan is? i didn't off the top of my head, so i googled that shit. there seems to be some disagreement (esp when you start looking at working pans vs decorative pans) but it says long beach washington?? who knew there were so many giant frying pans.
Did you know we have an extra bedroom for those on the frying pan pilgrimage? yesssss me and abra will thelma and louise our way there. will you go see it with us? will you take a picture of me if i dress in a suit of bacon and pretend to fry in the pan?
