What do you like about it? It feels just the right size. Columbia seems to the smallest city I could live in. It actually has a public trans system.
Have any favorite spots in Columbia? I've had burgers at Booches and pizza at Shakespeares (which might not be there anymore). Shake's is still there, and it's overrated. Gumby's is better. Have not been to Booches yet. Flat Branch is a good pub.
The Blue Note is the best music venue here. Kurt Vile will come here in a month, and that's where he's playing. (That'll probably be my 100th set as well).
What is your opinion on the protests that happened on campus? What was portrayed accurately and what was not by the national media? What do you think of the fallout? I appreciate them as a learning experience. It was interesting covering a national news event as a freshman. I think that some of CS1950's goals are unrealistic, but I think some are worth shooting for (the expansion of the Health Center comes to mind). I feel like the national media jumped to BUT THEY'RE BLACK! when not every goal CS1950 has is race related.
What's your best memory in life so far? Going to the London Olympics.
Do you have siblings? If so, how many? Where are you in the birth order? If no, do you wish you had siblings or are you happy as an only child? Well...technically....
Techincally I'm the middle child. However, my younger brother is well...dead.

I'm going with playlist number 2. Love like a sunset is happiness translated to music, whereas graceless is quite the opposite. Don't let them die on the vine, it's a waste.

Ok good.
I'm one of those weirdos that keeps a playlist of songs that sorta encapsulate what I'm feeling at the time. The first playlist is what it was a month ago, the second is as it stands now. I've been feeling happier and more optimistic since my seizure, and I don't mind.
Ok I mind the seizure bit and not being able to drive for six months, but being happy is nice.

Is biking a viable option in Columbus? Could be a good non-car option and it usually makes me pretty damn happy.

I'm excited to hear about the purpose you find in your trials, as they unfold. It takes a strong individual to weather a storm like that, and I'm certain that strength is eventually witnessed by people who need to witness it.

Yeah, it's viable. The problem is my main bike is A.recumbent and B. broken.
If I could convince my parents to outfit a regular adult bike with training wheels I'd be happy at this point.

Rubblebucket - came out of a lady
A change to that playlist has been a long time coming. I've had that playlist in some form for a year and the second playlist is its first major change.
I'm the happiest I've felt in a long time, if ever.
What's your favorite April fools joke that you've ever actually witnessed being pulled (either on you, you've helped plan or you've just seen in person happen to someone else)?
Cats or dogs?
Do you have any pets?
What are your feelings about the Oxford comma?
One foreign country that's on the top of your travel list?
Biggest fear?
Do you agree that auto shops overcharge people for things that really don't need to be so much money?

It was actually 8 years ago, I lived in Knoxville but was finishing up my classes and figured I could write my diss from anywhere, so I applied for a job in Pittsburgh and had a job interview. I flew home from Knoxville, I didn't get in until 3am with my interview at 9am. My mom drove me to the interview (I didn't have a car there), and as I'm focusing on thinking about the interview, she starts in. "Josh, I just wanted to let you know that your dad got an apartment in the next town over. We aren't angry at each other, we'll still be friends, we just need some time apart." Well, I freaked out. And it turns out it was an April fools joke, and I haven't heard the end of it since.
Cats or dogs?
Dogs
Do you have any pets?
No pets for this guy.
What are your feelings about the Oxford comma?
Oxford comma 4 lyfe.
One foreign country that's on the top of your travel list?
Probably South Africa, specifically Cape Town and the Cape of Good Hope. Also would love to go to Antarctica but I think that's expensive.
Biggest fear?
Snakes, and recently I've had a few fears about death.
Do you agree that auto shops overcharge people for things that really don't need to be so much money?
I think they probably do, but I just pay it because my time is important to me.
if you could live anywhere, where would it be?
I'd love to live somewhere that had a mid-major Division 1 basketball team in the town and I'd go to all the games. Also, I'd love to live in NYC, and I'd love to be able to move back to Pittsburgh. I also would love to live places like southern California, Seattle, Montreal, Dublin, but family obligations make that tougher.
Best memory?
How can I pick just one? I have a lot of great memories. I guess one would be the day that my sister and brother-in-law legally adopted three of their kids, and Levi (who was 10 and had never met his father) said that his wish finally came true - he had a dad.
Favorite vacation?
I've been fortunate to have a lot of great vacations, probably my favorites are just going to the beach with my family. We grew up driving from Pittsburgh to the Gulf Coast of Florida, had a couple of years that we did Myrtle Beach at Thanksgiving, and then recently we've been doing OBX/Nags Head.
Any siblings?
I am the oldest of three, my sister is the middle child and is married, and my brother is the youngest.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be an arbitrator/mediator. I feel like that's what I do now, from the union side, so I'd love to do it from a neutral side and some day be able to be my own boss and set my own schedule. I also dream of being Danny Zuko, and writing a television treatment some day.
Apples or bananas?
Apples, pink ladies preferably.
Favorite website?
Probably DKonPittsburghSports.com
PC or Mac?
PC, but I've been using my Chromebook exclusively at home recently.
Your arm rubbed up against your bedside lamp by mistake and now a genie is here. Whatcha wishing for?
I assume the standard 3 wishes? Money not being an object (pay off debt, do anything I want to do without regard to money), go back to the one girl I think I missed the boat on while I was dating her, and for a Pirates world series win.
Describe the perfect pizza. Be descriptive, please.
Regular crust, has to be cooked just right, a little crispy on the crust but smaller than normal crusts. Little bit of spice to the sauce. Loaded with mozzarella. Crispy bacon, pepperoni with the edges curled up, banana peppers, green peppers, and onions. Fin.
Do you have a favorite meme?
No, old guy rant trying to be avoided but memes really annoy the hell outta me.
What's the last concert you got to see?
Really trying to think about this. It's different for me because I live in a smaller city, and my fall is taken up by college football basically. I think it was J Roddy Walston and the Business at the Appalachian Brewing Co. in Harrisburg. Before that, I left Courtney Barnett early in DC to go see Prince, and Stevie joined him on stage.
Would you rather your body smells like pickles or your lips taste like pickles?
Body smell like pickles, I have a cologne fetish so I'd be able to cover it up.
If you could change one thing about your job/school, what would it be?
I'm 35 years old, but I deal with a lot of people 15-30 years older than me. I wish they realized I know what I'm talking about more often.
Best fruit?
Peaches, hands down. I can't pick peaches for anything in the world, though. It's my personal No Exit - Hell is bad peaches.
If you could add some animal part (antlers, tail, wings, etc) to your body which would you choose and why?
There are a lot of things running through my mind here. I think ultimately I'd add Cheetah vision, when I was at the zoo the other day they had a fact that cheetahs see their prey from 3 miles away.
Who is your favorite artist that you've recently discovered?
Torres is one of my favorites of the last year.
Declare your allegiance! Team Waffle or Team Pancake!?
French toast always gets short shrift on this board. I think I will go pancakes because they are lighter, but I do need light syrup (the diesel is too sugary), and I feel compelled to say that I'm down with waffles, pancakes, french toast, fresh fruit, cereal, bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes and anything that is not egg-related. Eggs are disgusting and foul.

But, but..... french toast is just bread SOAKED in eggs! How do you make/eat it without gagging?

What's your favorite childhood memory?
Not my thread but Potent Potables is right. French toast is amazing. Leave the bread out over night so it gets a little stale. It'll be more rigid after the egg bath. Or use a more resilient bread like challah. And definitely dump some cinnamon and vanilla in those eggs before you get cooking.
Whip all that up and put some maple syrup, some nice fruit compote and possibly powdered sugar for some nice aesthetics. Serve with a salty meat item and a giant cup of coffee... Yea... french toast is great.

Oh I love french toast as much as the next person, I just found it surprising how much he loves french toast despite a deep hatred of eggs

Ahhh yea that makes way more sense.
Sorry. I have an itchy trigger finger for defending French toast.

What's your favorite childhood memory?
Well, you can't taste the eggs in french toast, just like when you bake cookies or a cake. As said below, add cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, almond extract...you'll do fine.
I have so many favorite childhood memories that I probably can't choose just one. So I'm probably going to keep posting childhood memories when no questions are asked.
Childhood memory #1:
First trip to Disney World. I was 5 years old. As noted above, I'm the oldest child (of 3), so my sister Bethany was 3 and my brother Jeremy was around 1. We went to one of those dinner shows called the Hoopty Doo Review. For the second act of the show, they picked people out of the audience to participate, and I was one of the people that was picked. So they took me backstage, gave me instructions, and when it was my cue, I ran onstage to save the damsel in distress from a bear (a dude in a costume, obv). I had a foam club and I was supposed to beat him over the head with it. That's what they told me. What they didn't tell me was that the gal I saved was going to lean over and kiss me, and she planted a big one right on my cheek. I was appalled. I screamed a gutteral "ewwwwwwwwww" and ran off stage to my parents.
After the show, we were walking to the car and this lady came up to us, recognized I was in the show, and said to me "My, you have so much poise!"
My 3 year old sister heard this and responded: "No, two boys, one girl."
Potent, favorite drink? Best hangover cure? Whiskey and tequila drinks, if I had to pick one probably an old-fashioned. Also just enjoy a good scotch, neat, 2 drops of water. I do consider myself a "drinking chameleon", meaning that I'll usually drink whatever the people that I'm with are drinking. You're buying me a drink? I'll take what you're having. Also like beer, I've been on a real sour ale kick recently, and I prefer dry red wines.
My hangover cure is chugging lots of water, two aspirin when I wake up in the middle of the night, and something greasy for breakfast.
What are you excited for? Lots! Many things, big and small, excite me. The smell of freshly cut grass, or the smell of a bonfire. Fresh peaches and ripe avocados. Labor unions/collective bargaining/labor strikes. Traveling. Prince! Entering a baseball stadium and seeing the outfield grass. Cleavage. Great guitar solos. Long summer days of the sun staying up til after 9pm. The perfect golf shot, even better if it's a long putt.
Do you have a party trick? Or a go-to story? I have one party trick, which is my pterodactyl impression, which is pretty ridiculous. And I'm a storyteller, I have tons of stories. Probably my favorite is the first time I ever saw Prince, and my girlfriend at the time broke up with me on the way to the show. Still one of the best nights of my life.
Any tattoos? Or ideas for one? No tattoos. No ideas for one, which is probably why I don't have any. I don't think I'll ever get a tattoo, just not my thing.
Would you rather have a bionic arm or a bionic leg? Bionic arm if it had any chance of leading to a Henry Rowengartner situation.
Would you rather die of the cold or die of the heat? Probably the heat.
Would you rather have your face and body, but the brain of a chimpanzee, or be a chimpanzee, but have your human brain? Give me looks over a brain, any day.
Would you rather wake up and find your teeth have fallen out or your hair has fallen out? OMG, omg, definitely hair fallen out, teeth things freak me out, you probably just dictated my nightmares for tonight.
Would you rather be a penguin, who's a bird but can't fly, or a flying fish that's a fish that can fly a bit? Flying fish. Is there anyone who would choose penguin?
I was sleeping on this thread this month. Forgive me if any of these were repeated by someone else.

Best experience at a show? Every Prince show for being unique. First time was my first time, plus my girlfriend broke up with me on the way to the show. Second time was my first time in 11 years. Third time he brought out Stevie Wonder. Worst experience at a show? Third Eye Blind with an ex. She was a huge fan, I was texting my BFF the entire time and paid for it that night with the ex.
Your thoughts on country music? Not really my bag. Metal? I can get into some of it. Jazz? Yes, please.
Would you rather be outside in rain or snow? Rain 8 days a week - no shoveling!
What's your favorite style of pizza? I love it all - traditional, thin, deep dish, etc. What's your favorite toppings on a pizza? Bacon and banana peppers
Target or Walmart? Target (no anti-union shopping for this guy) Home Depot or Lowes? Home Depot (I like orange) Popeyes or KFC? Don't really care ,but Bojangles? Ford or Chevy? Ford Pittsburgh or Philly? C'mon man. Pittsburgh all the way. It's the best city in the world. And I like a lot about Philly.
Waffle House, IHOP, or Denny's? IHOP - the raspberry white chocolate pancakes are to die for. Pancakes or Waffles? I have no preference, I love them both, I also love french toast, but I love bacon more than anything. Is a burger a sandwich? Hell naw.
Who is your nominee for May? I need to think about it. I went like 22 days without questions here, I feel cheated!
