Sorry if this thread has already been made, couldn't find it though..
Any ladies (or guys!) out there with long hair? How do you keep it manageable at 'roo? I'm not planning on showering but last time i went to bonnaroo i kept it braided back and it was still a hot tangled mess by the end...
I just keep mine in a ponytail and cover my head with a bandana
I do this as well. I also try to wash it in the water houses atleast twice while I am there. It is still pretty much a mess when I leave, but managable. Best bet is just to keep it up all weekend.
This is probably the year my hair will be the shortest at Roo but by most standards its still long. I usually just pull it up in a ponytail. I wash it at least twice while Im there. For some reason to me dirty hair no matter how clean my body may or may not be makes me feels 100 times dirtier

I've got decently long locks (mid-back). I don't plan on wearing my hair down at all. Braids, messy pig buns, hats/caps, and headbands will be how I roll. Gotta wash my hair at least every other day...it's totally a mental thing. I know they says it's bad for your hair, but I can't stand it!
I always do the low side buns and wear a hat over it. I washed my hair once last year and was good to go. I may wash it more often this year though because it was really hard to get the tangles out when I finally got to a hotel.

Last year my hair was about mid back and is naturally straight and doesn't seem to ever frizz, so I just wore it down the entire time. I don't recall ever having it up the entire time. I also showered at night.
I have long, thick, curly hair that will throw a white girl fro with little provocation. At previous Roos, my sister braided it into a bunch of smaller braids that I kept down most of the time and a bandanna over that, with a floppy hat during the day. The braids kept everything under control, and I could still kinda wash it. This year, though, I think I'm going to see what I can do with it without the little braids...buns, pigtails, ponytails, all that.
My hair is about mid-back. I plan on washing mine every day and putting a little coconut oil on the length/ends to keep it moisturized. Other than that, I'm going to wear it in braided pigtails and a bandanna.
I'll be rocking the braids and ponytails, but I also have some awesome leave in conditioner from Cat Walk that helps keep it from becoming a tangled mess! Just another little trick for the unnatural blondes like me: Get highlights right before you leave. Blond hair takes longer to look greasy than darker hair. It might buy you a day or two!
i just chopped mine off last night. i was going to lock it but the heat was getting to me. my wife seems to like it short. i think its because its shorter than hers is again.
1st Roo but last year at Summer Camp I just threw it up in a messy bun or braided pigtails. My hair is down to almost my waist in the back, so much longer than last summer, but it'll be the same stylings as last year. My hair is very wavy (accented even more with wave spray!) and I only wash it every 3 days or so anyways but I find it's much easier to keep in an updo if it's a bit dirty.
I've always had long hair and have been going to music fests for over 20 years. I usually just pony-tail it (I have never learned to braid it, even after 25+ years) I'd be into the braid thing just need to find a kind soul at the fest to do it for me. My g/f could do it before I leave (she is not going) but she's not great at it and they always seem to come undone within the first day. Any tips on preventing that? Washed once last year in the showers, the trickles I should call them thats about all the pressure I got, felt great even if the water pressure was seriously lacking. Sort of got out most of the tangles. I usually just deal with the fact that my hair will be a mess when I get home.
I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name right---P.T. Barnum "As I was walking up the stairs I met a man who wasn't there He wasn't there again today I wish to God he'd go away."
Braided pigtails and a big ol floppy hat. Braid 'em Thursday night and you dont have to touch 'em the rest of the weekend! If they still get too hot I bobby pin the braids to the back of my head, swiss milkmaid style

I've never had my hair any shorter than mid-back. It's currently a teeny bit longer than that. Both Roos I've been to it goes UP UP UP. However, be aware of the parts you make in your hair especially with braids and pigtails and such - they can sunburn really easily - and ain't nothin' nastier than your scalp PEELING a week later. yick!
Also for people with new bangs - I had the short bangs last year (see avatar) and boy were they a mess. If you have bangs that are short - plan on either straight-out rocking them and your forehead being insanely hot and sweaty all the time, or plan on pulling them back with a thousand snappy clips and headbands... and occasionally pieces popping out and you looking like a crazy-haired lion. the latter is not nearly as cute, but definitely cooler.

Mayo is all over this one. Switch your part around and don't forget spray sunscreen on it too. This makes for greasy hair, but it's worth it.

Way true. I slap a wet bandanna up there, and I'm goooood.
Hair down but pulled back from my face with a bandana. This way my scalp and neck/upper back is protected and I could pull the bandana down over my forehead if needed.
Washed my hair every morning in the troughs with some 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner and a very large cup and then added a bit of curling product back at the tent. Made me a happy girl.
I think this year's lineup is AWESOME! ***I'm very proud to see EMINEM get top billing*** Traveling solo and looking forward to soaking up the sun, music, fresh air and happy people! ***Can't wait to meet you!***
I have very thick hair down to my mid-back and just kept it in a pony tail all weekend. I didn't wash it until Sunday night at the hotel and it was fine. I'd love to have it down more this time, but we'll see. I may look into some of that leave in conditioner, though!
