So... I just discovered you can sort your Discogs collection by price. Turns out my collection is worth way more than I thought it was. And my impulse buy of St. Pepsi's Hit Vibes promo record is one of the greatest financial decisions I've ever made.

Wow I just looked that up, that’s insane. I saw him open for Madeon a couple years back. Why is it so expensive, it’s not like he or that album are particularly big

So there were only 500 copies printed which helps. The novelty of the pressing helps too. If they were ever to reissue it they'd have to print it with Skylar Spence on it, not St. Pepsi.
Mainly though I think it's that a lot of early pressings for buzz bands like him have insanely expensive early pressings. They do a small run of records, then the band blows up which drives up the price, then it levels out. Early Anamanaguchi stuff is another good example of that.

My most valuable record is Chromatics- Kill For Love. I got it for free from the band when they were giving stuff away every week on their Facebook page.

You know, being a record collector, this is oddly something that I don't think about too much. Contrary to my comic book collection where I could probably tell you without looking what my 10 most valuable pieces are, whereas my records are usually "ok I need this record, how can I get it without breaking the bank" and not "how can I make bank". Also, I separate my comics by value ($20+ in these boxes, $50+ in these boxes, $100+ in this box etc), and my records are more or less organized by what I'm most likely to listen to. Actually, I only own a handful of records that are still sealed, so those are kind of put away.
Anyway, to my point of this, I'm about to look up my records and make a list of what I assume to be the most "valuable" records in my collection in terms of resale. I still don't know why I haven't done this before.

Skinny Puppy - Too Dark Park (German, signed by Cevin Key and Ogre, so probably higher than this) 6. Le Butcherettes - Sin Sin Sin (sealed) 7. Coil - Love's Secret Domain 8. The Mars Volta - Noctourniquet 9. David Bowie - Scary Monsters (promo) 10. Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral (promo) Honorable Mention: Skinny Puppy - Last Rights (promo) Honorable Mention: The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds (08 repress signed)
I totally forgot about my Alice In Chains - Jar of Flies/Sap original pressing, I'm sure that would make the cut. Double edit: also forgot about my La La Land soundtrack signed by Justin Hurwitz

I bought Is this It for $25 at Walmart a few years ago. What has changed

Off the top of my head: The UK version came with “New York City Cops” where the US version didn’t. It came out right after 9/11 and the label didn’t wanna push buttons.
I haven’t looked but I can’t remember any US pressing with that song. I also haven’t worked in a record store in a decade either.
E: that’s wrong. Apparently it was on the vinyl but not the cd copies. Dunno the right answer. Import, maybe?
Yeah I meant to put the glove in my post. I have both covers and paid pretty much the same for both. I think my Room on Fire Newbury is my most valuable, surprised how cheap Endless is going for
Not a whole lot there for me, but this seems interesting
'A Day In The Life: Impressions of Pepper' [Verve]
"Some of today's most meaningful up and coming and established jazz artists pay homage to the iconic Beatles record "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". Musicians were given the challenge to create loose interpretation of these classic songs, and the result is impressionistic, original, avant-garde takes on legendary tracks like "With A Little Help From My Friends", "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds", "Getting Better", and "A Day In The Life"."
I wouldn’t mind having Rage ATMachine and Manchester Orchestra’s Demos (which is not showing on the list at the moment). Other than that, there really isn’t anything else...
Meh, nothin’ I gotta have. The week before is when the next release from The Chris Robinson Brotherhood (Betty’s Blends Vol. 4) comes out so that’s all I need that month!
