“ Evangelion Finally is a collection of vocal songs performed by Yoko Takahashi and Megumi Hayashibara as heard in the hit anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion and the 2009 film Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance.”
If you have any type of unique or special release like this....have you done it? Or do you prefer to keep it in perfect condition?
2.) For those of you who sort your record collection alphabetically....do you have a "Various Artists" section? Or do you just file those types of albums into stuff that makes sense to you? Like, I've got the "Cover Stories" album where a bunch of different artists cover Brandi Carlile songs for a charity. I personally put this with my other Brandi Carlile albums even though she's not technically on it. Same goes for a couple of the Newport Folk Festival live vinyl releases they've had. Instead of putting them in "V" I slot them into "N" for "Newport Folk Fest".
2) I have an assorted at the end of my alpha stacks. Christmas stuff, old Disney records, a couple compilations, couple classical, the acid test, and then my 45s/7" just lean on those
1. Mark Lanegan - Here Comes That Weird Chill LP Color (Methamphetamine Blues, Extras And Oddities) 2. Frankie And The Witch Fingers - Brain Telephone LP Color 3. Joni Mitchell - Archives, Vol. 1 (1963-1967)
And this lovely OSees gem, that was technically not part of RSD:

1. I usually leave mine in tact. 2. I do the same as you. For a movie soundtrack, I list them alphabetically too (Almost Famous would go in the A section instead of V). Just so my V section isn’t overly crowded.

Yeah, running out of shelf space has forced me to separate soundtracks and comedy albums completely. I've got two crates/shelves elsewhere for those. And weirdly I don't do those in alphabetical. That's more of a personal order with some of my favorites up front and things that I kind of loosely group together near each other. Like I have some Coen Brothers/Fargo TV/Legion TV soundtracks I keep near each other as well as a few horror movies that go with other horrors. Wonder why I'm not as particular about those.
So if you're looking to kick start your jazz collection, I'd look into this. This package was gifted to me several months ago and while I have them all, it's still a pretty sweet deal for the price.
I got :
Ella Fitzgerald And Louis Armstrong - Ella's & Louis Charles Mingus- Ah Um Stan Getz / Joao Gilberto - Getz / Gilberto Duke Ellington/Charlie Mingus/Max Roach - Money Jungle Eric Dolphy - Out To Lunch
If I was guaranteed the Dexter Gordan and Wayne Shorter albums, I'd gladly pick it up.
E: It's literally $35
Killer deal, thanks for sharing. Only one I have is Wayne Shorter, so this should work out well for me.
I'll be pretty happy if I get one or two of Getz / Gilberto, Somethin' Else, Art Blakey, and some Mingus
Got this in yesterday, ended up with the same 5 as you but I didn’t have any of them so I’m pumped.
For RSD I waited like 3 hours in line at the new Rough Trade and got Fela Kuti, Nubya Garcia, and the Jazz Dispensary jazz-funk comp, and also picked up a Rough Trade-exclusive pressing of Waxahatchee’s last record that I pre-ordered a few months ago. Almost sprang on RATM and Joni but had to limit myself
I tend to keep my compilations, soundtracks, and other miscellaneous records at the end of my collection in no particular order.

The obvious winner is Ah-Um but spend some time with Out To Lunch and Money Business. I’ve gone on in this thread about OtL so I won’t do it again but it’s essential, imo. Money Business is just brilliant and flows seamlessly. Congrats on that order.

I have a dedicated Soundtrack slot in my collection. V/A I tend to put in the end of whatever genre it’s associated with. My issue will forever and always be split LP’s with one band on one side and another on the other. It’s not really a compilation and doesn’t go with the band, either. I also usually just stick them at the end of the genre befor the compilations. I have no idea what to do with them.

i only have three VA records so i just keep them under V. if i had a bunch i might keep them separately, but in my head when i want to find that motown compilation i know to go to V.
GD box set? I was going for that and realized I never really had a chance.
nah. I was going for the Jazz Dispensary release. Found one in the UK (I hope).
This is the reason I decided I had to go to rough trade instead of one of the better record stores in nyc. I was pretty certain they were the only place I’d definitely be able to get that one. Highly recommend it if you can find it. I gotta hunt down vol. 1

I have vol. 1 and orange sunset. Two of my favorite pieces in my collection.
JUST IN TIME FOR FATHER’S DAY. Faust box set from 71-74 which minus the Tony Conrad album is all the Faust you need. Pre-ordered and now trying to figure out how to explain this to Mrs. GL the day before we leave for vacation.
Couple of sales this weekend. Popmarket offering 15% all in stock items and Merchbar doing about. 20-25% off sale. No code needed for Merchbar as you can see the discount taken on the items listing. Popmarket the code is POP15 and free domestic shipping.
Finally snagged OG pressings of Reign in Blood and Show No Mercy. Slayer's best records, imo. Also, some other long needed records from The Horrors, Warpaint and more.
Re: Slayer Reign in Blood original pressing. I got mine from some random guy on a Phish forum. He didn't even know me, just saw me talking about Slayer in a thread and PMd me to ask if I wanted it. Wouldn't even take money for shipping.
