I got LCD Soundsystem's The Long Goodbye on vinyl recently and while it sounds great, the packaging/layout is terrible!
Exhibit a: The five records are laid out in the following way: a/c, b/d, e/h, f/i, g/j I understand this is for people with two vinyl set-ups to flow seemlessly into the next side, but for most normal people, flipping between 3 albums in the second half of the show is obnoxious.
Exhibit b: The g/j vinyl is printed incorrectly. I went to play side g, making my way through the concert for the first time, and it was the last two songs of the show. Dope.
Exhibit c: The records are in slipcases that make a zigzag pattern when set side by side, and they're out of order. the f/i side goes on the outside or far right rather than the g/j. Admittedly minor, but collectively what the fuck. This is like a $125 box set. No one double checked these things? Weird.
Anyway, the songs still rule. Love the band forever and always, but my OCD is really unhappy with this box.

Forgive me if this has already been hashed out, but does anyone else find this record store day list to be really really weak. I love doing record store day, but debating if its worth it. There's only really 1 exclusive that I'm really excited about, and its a cassette.
he/they '12 - Firefly '13 - Firefly, Made In America '14 - Firefly, Made In America '15 - Mountain Jam (Sunday), Firefly, Pitchfork, Made In America '16 - Boston Calling, Firefly, Osheaga, Made In America, Roots Picnic NYC '17 - Boston Calling, Gov Ball, Firefly (Sunday), Pitchfork, Day For Night '18 - Boston Calling, Mountain Jam, Osheaga '19 - Form, Firefly (Sunday) '22 - Boston Calling, Firefly

Youll probably find it online if youre on top of things Friday morning/afternoon. If it doesnt seem to be a too in demand cassette or they made a lot, dont sweat too much. There shouldnt even be an rsd on black friday. Its veiled to try and help out small businesses and all, but come on.

I curse James Murphy every time I play it. How dare he assume I have two record players!
It's cold and rainy and I'm under the weather, so no trips out for me today. But I did recently get the 10th Anniversary reissue of The Monitor and the Rih-issue of ANTI so I don't need much else for a while

I picked up the Life Aquatic soundtrack this morning as a gift for my partner for Christmas. It’s his favorite Wes Anderson film and he’s also a big Bowie fan.
I was *this* close to buying the Thundercat album too simply because the album art is spectacular, but I ultimately put it back.

If anyone finds any copies of life aquatic soundtrack let me know. I didn't go out early this morning. Went in the afternoon and grabbed the Isbell record as well as Hendrix in Paris and Dave van ronk Live

Thanks! I got a little antsy when I didn't see it pop up on Bullmoose or other sites today so I bought one off Discogs that is close to the price I'm seeing on these sites (maybe a few dollars more overall). If that falls through I'll be using these links.
Life Aquatic is my favorite Wes Anderson and one of my favorite movies overall. I paid money to get the bootleg/unofficial Seu Jorge soundtrack on vinyl from Europe a few years back so I knew I wanted to get this.

I didn't get out for Black Friday, but went to a local joint a week or two prior and continue to receive monthly shipments from Vinylmky. This is a lil' mix of the two.
Claud--Super Monster My Morning Jacket--Self titled orange splatter vinyl Mindchatter--Imaginary Audience The War On Drugs--I Don't Live Here Anymore blue vinyl Nick Cave Alone at Alexandra Palace--Idiot Prayer Drama--Dance Without Me Alejandro Escoveda--La Cruzada green/white/red striped vinyl Walter Bishop Jr.'s 4th Cycle--Keeper of My Soul Pink Sweat$--Pink Planet Mogwai--Kin Soundtrack red vinyl
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

Score on that WBjr. I found that and a shitload of Doug Carn originals forever ago at a shop in Baltimore. E: and apparently a Gene Russell ‘Talk To My Lady’ that I have no recollection of buying. It must have been with that batch.

I've been having a lot of issues with making sure my speaker wire stays connected to my amplifier lately (I just connect the wire directly from the speaker to the amplifier, which I'm reading may not have been such a great idea to begin with!) and as such I've been having a lot of really bad sound issues with my setup lately. Is it worth it to get a speaker cable like this or some other cable terminal?

so in the process of researching this I had the very smart realization that I could just buy banana plugs to connect my speaker wire into and made the dumb assumption that all banana plugs would connect into the speaker portion of my amp (they don't). So I just readjusted the speaker wire and now the sound is working fine again. I'm slowly coming to the realization that this is something I'm probably just going to have annoyingly readjust every month or so until I get a different amp. Good news, though: I'll never need to buy a banana plug again for the rest of my life.

what kind of amp do you have? the speaker terminals on some amps have the little banana plug hole blocked with a lil plug and you have to push it out.
but if it's a terminal like this those are bare wire only. but really it should be fine so long as you twist the copper together and carefully insert it into the terminal while holding open the little black or red thing. it really shouldn't just randomly stop working unless you are jostling the cables somehow or the amp or cable itself is somehow screwy.
Were they the ones who fucked over long time writers who just quit/were let go a little while ago? I know that or things like that happened to a few sites recently. I haven't kept up/don't really visit the AV Club anymore. A few years ago I was all over their TV reviews and comment sections and then they fucked that up in a variety of ways and ultimately just stopped having episodic reviews for the most part.
I probably just saw the tweet cuz Bright Eyes comes up for me a lot.
