I've snagged a whole bunch of records within the past two weeks, here are my most recent buys: • The Beatles' Rubber Soul, the original mono for $8 freakin' dollars. EPIC. • The B-52's self-titled. • Donovan's Greatest Hits. • Gang of Four's Entertainment! • Led Zeppelin's Houses of the Holy. I flailed when I found it. No Quarter, sighswoon.
Also, foudray, hope you're enjoying your Omar buys. Not a fan of TMV, but I do like Omar's solo stuff. His girlfriend has a beautiful voice, and I really like Omar and Ximena's voices together on Xenophanes. They mesh very well.
Your right honeybear, their voices do mesh well together. I'm hoping to find some more of Omars hard to find albums.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

I wish you luck. So far, my boyfriend has snagged Solar Gambling, Xenophanes, The Apocalypse Inside of an Orange, Se Dice Bisonte, No Bùfalo, Old Money, and Calibration. They're getting harder to find, especially the older ones, since they were released through Gold Standard Laboratories and they are no more. My boyfriend's been collecting Omar albums since a year and a half ago, and we found a goldmine at Grimey's.
I was pretty excited when I found mono Rubber Soul for a cheap price. The jacket is kind of messed up, but the vinyl plays great.
Same with mine! It brings character, I say. I was just amazed that a. I found a Beatles vinyl, since everyone tends to grab them pretty damn quickly. b. It was so cheap. c. It was mono!
I just wish that Drive My Car was on there. I like I've Just Seen a Face and It's Only Love, but I'm very fond of Drive My Car and Nowhere Man. I miss them.

Picked these up this past weekend:
I gotta get some Black Keys on vinyl. That HAS to sound awesome.

I'm not proficient in the ways of vinyl, and I need some advice. A friend of mine picked up an album at a thrift store last week. He gave it to me because he knew I would find it funny: "Old Favorite Church Hymns performed by The Colonel's Mandolin Band" (The Colonel being Colonel Sanders of KFC fame)
We did some internet research this weekend and found only two copies for sale online: one never-opened copy for $187 and a used-but-good-condition copy on ebay for $125. I can't find any information on how many copies were made/distributed so I'm not sure how rare this album is.
We put our copy up on ebay for $100 buy it now. I personally think $100 a little steep (even though the album and the jacket are in great shape) but my friend suggested we put it out there to see if we could get it.
My question: Is there a market for a potentially rare album like this one? I'm thinking we should get rid of the buy-it-now price and just see what we can get for it. Any advice/suggestions?

Just got my tax refund today.....thinking about hitting up the record store tomorrow.
Just ordered up my Portugal. the Man - American Ghetto package. CD, Vinyl, Digital download and shirt. Gotta wait a while til the vinyl/cd actually ships though.
But next week I get something I've been waiting for since December. The White Stripes - Under Great White Northern Lights box set. Can not wait for the Live White Stripes Vinyl
Yea I'm looking forward to your thoughts on it. Definitely a lot of money, but it looks like it's worth it for a big fan.
I lucked out. My parents usually get me one big gift on Christmas worth a hundred or two dollars then a bunch of small cheap gifts. I originally wanted a stereo system to connect to my turntable......but this came out and I told them THIS is what I wanted.
I'm so pumped for everything. The CD, the DVDs, the Vinyl live album and Vinyl single. I even got a free Rob Jones turntable slipmat cuz I was a member of the Third Man Records Vault at the time (which also got me a SWEET Raconteurs Live Vinyl.....which is amazing. So glad I have Keep It Clean on vinyl).

I didn't think I saw anyone mention Embryonic.
I got a copy a one of my local stores for 15 bucks. Two discs, one light blue, one yellow - absolutely gorgeous vinyl. It also comes with a copy of the CD, what a great deal. Honestly, if you are a vinyl collector and Flips fan, you need to get this one. I easily would have paid 25-30 for this.
ITM - I'm with you on the Stripes box set, it looks beautiful. I'm going to be ordering mine next week, assuming they aren't for sale at the screening I'm attending.
Two side notes:
If you aren't aware, there are sneak preview screening of UGWNL occurring nationwide for the next week. Some of the events will have exclusive WS merch. Additionally, on 3/16 (the actual relase date) there will be secret screenings occurring nationwide. As I mention in my signature, they are having contests in a few cities to see who can get the most people to RSVP for the secret screenings. Winner gets a signed DVD and some other goodies. I'm trying for the DC one right now. Unforeunately, I'm getting crushed by some kid named Alex. If anyone has time, please take 30 seconds to RSVP using the link below. You don't have to attend (but you should!), you don't have to live in the DC area either. Simply provide a name, e-mail, and brief comment. Much obliged!

I set up my pre-order for the new Portugal. The Man (American Ghetto) and the new Dr. Dog (Shame, Shame) vinyls. Don't get those for a few weeks at least though.
I went and picked up a few at the record store though. Here's what I got:
moe. - Sticks and Stones
My Morning Jacket - It Still Moves
Wilco 7" - You Never Know / Unlikely Japan
Buffalo Springfield - Retrospective
and when paying they tossed in the 7" for Citizen Cope and Hot Chip. I've heard decent things about both bands but never listened to them so I'm glad I got some new music for free. Really cool
just upgraded from a ion usb turntable to a technics sl1200mk5 with a really nice headshell and stylus......have to say I've been blown away by the sound quality of this deck. Snagged a copy of an old Bob Weir album a few days ago for less than 5 bucks and picked up Ryan Adams-29 today. I've been blasting Tobacco-Fucked Up Friends as of lately.
sorry the image is so big. These are probably my two favorite pieces in my collection. I think the shpongle vinyl is absolutely beautiful....and I haven't been able to bring myself to open the grand pecking order yet because I've seen it going for a lot on ebay. Haven't decided whether or not I'm going to sell it yet or not.

i was at my local record store the other week (Siren Records in Doylestown) and they have a bin with vinyls they havent gone through yet, and whatever is in there is 5 dollars! so i was looking through and stumbled upon a copy of the Beatles' "white album" with the serial number on the front! would that be considered a rare find?
