Decent flea market score today, however there was a Dog track across the street where I proceeded to lose my shirt, so much for a finding a 'bargain' today.
The last one I saw was in the story of the Simpson's getting Santa's Little Helper.
I was really hoping there would be atleast one named Santa's Little Helper. I don't know how you own a greyhound and not pull the trigger on that for a name.
Vinyls currently in transit from Amazon.com and Amoeba.com:
Radiohead - OK Computer Radiohead - The King of Limbs (Newspaper Edition) Mariachi El Bronx - Mariachi El Bronx (II) Rebelution - Courage to Grow White Denim - D
I am so happy right now! Words cannot explain. I finally understand what the big deal is and why everyone is always saying "vinyl sounds better." I will definitely be checking out the early pages of this thread for my next purchase!
Fixed. I would say something sarcastic in nature towards you right now, but it's clear this classification of music needs to be highly revered and thus grammar disrespects should not be tolerated.

Somehow seemed to lose another 40 dollars to the record store this morning. This hobby is going to be like Las Vegas isn't... the house will always win...
picked up Rage Against the Machine - Rage Against the Machine Radiohead - Hail to the Thief

How's the RATM one sound? I've been thinking about picking up the 20th anniversary picture disc

I can fully appreciate that you are a big radiohead fan, and think its awesome that you are piecing the collection together. However, I would highly recommend that you hit some thrift shops and discount bins and start building a more diverse collection. I love the Beatles and I have a huge amount of their records but I don't want to listen to them on repeat. I throw on the white album, then maybe Tame Impala, then maybe Wilco, then maybe some Bob Dylan or some Stevie Wonder.
Just a suggestion, that's all. Songs in the Key of Life for 5$ is a great pickup, as long as the discs are clean.
A diverse collection is good to have, just as a complete collection of your favorite band is.

Totally agree. I am absolutely loving the thrift stores/flea markets down here. We didn't really have them up north. Now I go record hunting probably 2 or 3 times a week. Probably have added almost a 100 records to my collection since getting down here.

I skipped the picture disc because I heard those don't hold up as well for playing over time, they are more for collecting. So I just got the normal 180g re-master that came as part of the XX set. But the copy I have sounds great!
I need to visit the flea market more frequently. I used to hit that place up at least a couple of times a month. gayphish still goes like every weekend he's not out of town and that is why he has like 5x as many rekkids as me.
I actually did hit the swapmeet yesterday morning. I was overwhelemed with bins and bins and bins and I had no idea what I was looking for. I also seemed to be intimidated by the dozens of people there that seemed to know wayyyy more than I as far as what to look for and where to look.
Any advice for approaching mad grabs like that? This local swap meet had about ten local vendors with like tons of records of each. I don't know where to start, lots of people seemed to be walking away with gold yet I seemed to only find pure crap.
I wish there were swap meets around here, we have a flea market a little ways north but its just knockoff clothing and electronics. I asked around for records and they looked at me like I had three heads. I find something at the Salvation Army every now and again but not very often.

Third Man Records is thrilled to announce the release of the first three records in our highly-anticipated Document Records reissue series.
Pre-orders are available now in our online store (with a January 29th in-store release date) for Volume 1 of The Complete Recorded Works in Chronological Order of Charley Patton, Blind Willie McTell and The Mississippi Sheiks.
Subsequent volumes will be released regularly and new artists will be slotted for release from this fantastic catalog of blues greats as soon as this first series is complete.
The recordings we'll be presenting in this reissue series are the building blocks and DNA of American culture. Blues, R&B, Elvis, teenagerism, punk rock... it all goes back to these vital, breathtaking recordings. Third Man Records is proud to present these landmark albums in conjunction with Document Records, with brand new, jaw-dropping artwork by Rob Jones and new insightful liner notes, on vinyl for the first time in decades. Every record collection should have ample room for these highly important and endlessly listenable albums.
News on how and where you can buy the limited edition colored vinyl versions of these LPs will be forthcoming.

Helplessness Blues came in the mail today, and instantly became the favorite album of my collection. Fleet Foxes on vinyl puts Fleet Foxes through any other media to shame.

Has anyone else taken on the task of itemizing all of their vinyl? jeeeeeezzzzuuus. Pain in the patootie.
Good advice. I'll start an excel spreadsheet now, while my collection is new and just getting started.
By the way, just to give everyone a one week update: holy sheez this is my new favorite hobby for sure. I can't stop thinking about playing records and finding records.
