One of the strangest hauls I ever received was Elton Johns entire discography until the 90s I believe. Look up his discography too, that was a ton of records. I'm all for Elton, it was just very odd to find them all in one go
2012: White Denim : SBTRKT : Superjam : Punch Bros : Feist : Radiohead
2013: The Stepkids : Dirty Projectors : HAIM : The National : Paul : Animal Collective : R.Kelly : DATSUPERJAM : Byrne & Vincent : SWANS....damn. take me back to 2013
Recently acquired a copy of Led Zeppelin I -- turns out the thing is brutally warped. I've heard about the "LP Sandwich" using two pieces of plate glass, but is it better to use sunlight or an oven at about 175 degrees? Any help you guys can give would be awesome.
I started to catalog my collection on Discogs.com last night. Really interesting going through that and seeing all the versions of different records. Anybody else do this or done this in the past? I'm only up to the D's but will be adding stuff here and there over the next week or two.
Yea I did this recently. My copy of Exile On Main Street doesn't seem to be listed and I'm anxious about adding a new version because I don't know anything about it. Likewise for the Mutual Benefit's Love's Crushing Diamond and Animal Furnace by Hannibal Buress.

Recently got into vinyl as my roommate has a turntable.
Recent purchases for me were: Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Push the Sky Away Tom Waits - Bad As Me Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures
Then hit up a used record store and picked up: The Doors - LA Woman (probably my most played record) Genesis - Genesis Meatloaf - Bat Out of Hell Nazareth - Best of
And stole a couple from my parents: Queen - The Game David Bowie. - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon (a close second for most played)
I have amphetamine reptile record's fb send me notifications when they post and when it went up I bought it while driving on my way home from work. iphone ftw.
I still haven't gotten that Reignwolf 7" in the mail.
Oh yeah, I got the Prince 180 gram vinyl bundle (Dirty Mind, Controversy, 1999, and Purple Rain) when it was on sale for $60. I think I ordered it on 12/23 and it didn't come in the mail until early February. That website is so unpredictable. The Neil Young - Psychedelic Pill vinyl came in within a week after I ordered it.
I really want to buy the new St. Vincent self titled but my local record store owner told me there have been issues with warping, off center, and sound issues with the pressings. Can anyone confirm or deny?
I don't have a copy myself (yet), but I've also been hearing that the sound is pretty off/distorted. Haven't heard anything about warping though...
I try not to get suckered into lavish box sets or other accouterments but this sounds too good for a Wes Anderson fan by like me to pass up.
"Later this year, ABCKO Records will release a box set of every single Wes Anderson movie soundtrack, making for a perfect fusion of record and film nerdery. The 10-album collection features songs from Anderson and music supervisor Randall Poster’s 22-year, eight-movie collaboration. Hard details aren’t really available yet about when, what, or how, but IndieWire estimates that the set could include around 150 songs, plus whatever tracks Anderson might have used in his movies but didn’t include on past soundtrack releases. There’s also no real information on how the set will be packaged. Let’s just assume it’ll be pressed onto some obscure vinyl made only in India, wrapped in tweed, then placed into a suitcase hand-carved out of birch."

Pure speculation, I'm guessing from the article the conversion will go from analog master tape > 24/96 digital > vinyl. Nothing inherently wrong with this, and I'm glad there will be 24/96 downloads available, but for analog purists the best path is all analog.
Music Matters has been releasing Blue Note on vinyl for a few years now, and they sound jaw droppingly stupid amazing. All analog, mastered by either Steve Hoffman or Kevin Grey. They just started the 33.3 series, but I was a subscriber to the 45 series, and have maybe a couple dozen, really really beautiful pieces.
They are $50 apiece, but if you want the best sounding versions of these blue note classics, Music Matters is the way to go. A lot are out of print now, but many are still available.

More hi fi content than strictly vinyl content, but I've had a system update I want to share because I'm excited.
Bought a new headphone amp, a Singlepower Supra. For those not familiar, the short version of the Singlepower story is they used to make fantastic sounding headphone amps, and then one day they started breaking. Some literally smoking/almost catching on fire. Turns out Singlepower (which was actually just one guy) were making amps with all kinds of problems. He also took a lot of money from people to make custom amps. People started opening up their amps, and realizing the parts they thought they paid for they didn't actually get. Other people ended up never getting their amps at all. Basically this asshole disappeared with probably hundreds of thousands of dollars of peoples money. Its a really sad story, the guy had everything going for him, and he blew it.
Just google "singlepower" if you want to read the whole insane story. Plenty of stuff on it over at head-fi.
So the resale value of Singlepower amps plummeted. A handful of amazing people in the headphone community started taking on the projects of repairing (if possible) or otherwise making these amps safe, by adding balancing/discharge resistors so that stupid amounts of lethal voltages aren't just hanging out in the capacitors.
This amp was "safetified" by one such benevolent individual. I bought it and just received it this week.
This is an "end game" amp for me. Imma rock it till the wheels fall off (or the caps die and need replacement). Absolutely fantastic sound with my HD800.
Black Keys - Chulahoma is only $13. Everyone should get that if they can't wait for the next FatPossum $10 sale. There's some actual Junior Kimbrough available too.
I saw this late last night and quite literally slept on it. The R.L. Burnside album I wanted was sold out but I got Al Green - I'm Still in Love With You, Lord Huron - Lonesome Dream, Unknown Mortal Orchestra s/t and Freddie Gibbs - Str8 Killa for like $30. Pretty happy about it.

Picked up Langhorne Slim, Jason Isbell, The Flaming Lips - The Terror, and White Denim EP. Shouldn't spend money but damn that was a good sale. Hope they don't fuck up the shipping.

The sound isn't great. It's tinny and sound distorted when the noise levels are high. I know it was captured digitally, so I wonder if it was pressed from flac or mp3, or if it was just captured very poorly.
(1) Damon Albarn (2) Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (3) King Khan & His Shrines (4) Ty Segall (5) Ms Lauryn Hill (6) Darkside (7) Kanye (8) Janelle Monae (9) Goat (10) Meshuggah.
It looks like they've added some but don't go by the link above. Just go to vinyl section and click sale for everything that's on sale. Just noticed NIN - The Slip is on there now and a few others. I still haven't ordered anything yet because I got busy at work, but plan on it. I feel like I already blew it because At the Drive In album was available earlier and now it's not. I have like 11 albums in my cart, but don't know if I should pull they trigger on all of them or just get a couple to see how well they ship 'em.

R.L. Burnside - Come on In [LP] It's showing that as in stock now. or was there another one you're referring to?
I wanted I Wish I Was In Heaven Sitting Down. I refreshed the product page a few times and it always said sold out. I never even saw Come On In. Dammit!! Come On In is my favorite of his (mainly because of It's Bad You Know).
Oh well, I'll grab both in a Fat Possum $10 sale, whenever that may be.

My Best Buy sale records just came in the mail. I was fearing the worst when I saw the package. Was totally beat up and had scuffs and dents and things. It was a pretty big box so I hoped they packed it full of stuff to keep the records safe. My fears faded when I opened it, took out the packing air things and saw a smaller cardboard holder thing for the records. Looks like they arrived in perfect condition. I definitely started taking photos of the damage before opening, though, because I thought I'd be sending them back to Bestbuy with damage.

I bought The Slip on vinyl back when it came out, flawless pressing. Reznor really knows how to make his recordings shine. CDs, hi rez, vinyl, they all sound awesome.
The audiophile/uncompressed download of Hesitation Marks is stunning.
You fine folks can probably answer this (and apologies if it's been mentioned on previous pages I only did a very quick scan)- looking to purchase a record player and amazon reviews are confusing the shit out of me. Any brands I should stick with or run from? Would like to stay under $200 but willing to go up for the best. Thanks in advance for any help! Cheers to almost the weekend!

I am no expert, but I bought this record player last month and have been very happy with it.
