I'm skipping RSD this year because I leave for a big vacation on Tuesday. I've decided to distract myself by going to a brewery that isn't near any record stores.
Ryan Adams - Come Pick Me Up 7" Carcass - Choice Cuts 2x12" Foo Fighters - Songs From The Laundry Room 10" Jerry Garcia - Garcia LP Grateful Dead - Wake Up To Find Out: Nassau Coliseum 5x12" Jurassic 5 - Quality Control--The Wood Box 4x12" Metallica - No Life Til Leathr Cassette Oneohtrix Point Never - Commissions II LP Phish - NYE 1995 MSG 6x12" The Prodigy - Ibiza 7" Stooges - Have Some Fun: Live at Ungano's LP SWANS - 12" EP Vampire Weekend - Step 12" Wu-Tang Clan - Protect Ya Neck 12"
The only "must have" on the list is the Phish, I definitely won't be purchasing all of the above.
I'm interested in finding some of these on Saturday:
Ryan Adams' Come Pick Me up 7" David Bowie Changes 7" Neko Case Fox Confessor LP D'Angelo The Charade 7" Brian Eno My Squelchy Life 2x12" Grizzly Bear Horn of Plenty LP Interpol Everything is Wrong 7" Walking Dead Soundtrack LP Cold War kids Five Quick Cuts 10" RTJ 12"
one of my good pals here works at the electric fetus - the main record store in minneapolis. last week he was telling me how people would literally start camping outside the night before during the last few years. I definitely don't think I have the dedication to roll with those people..
Oh we doing lists? Trying to grab one of these i think
311 - Grifter/Who's got the Herb? Banks - Remixes Part 2 David Bowie - Changes Brand New - Deja Entendu D'Angelo - The Charade The Decemberists - Picaresque Bob Dylan - Basement Tapes Father John Misty - I Love You, Honeybear Florence + The Machine - What Kind of Man Grizzly Bear - Horn of Plenty Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze/Freedom Frank Sinatra - Songs for Young Lovers !!! - All U Writers/Gonna Guetta Stomp William Onyeabor - Atomic Bomb Remix riends Really want the William Onyeabor and the Brand New album, but i doubt that will happen. Really excited this is my first year participating. All my friends mocked me because i said i really wanted to wake up early and do this
Hot Chip's - Why Make Sense? has a deluxe edition with bonus EP available for purchase from Domino Records.
And here's an article explaining the album art work. Each copy will be unique, no two will be the same. There are 501 color variations, and the diagonal lines are slightly shifted from printing to printing. Some are nearly vertical, some are nearly horizontal.
Finally found out grandma is coming to babysit the boys while I run to Durham for RSD. Ex Hex? William Tyler? Count me in. Not wanting too much this year. Just that Hagerty-Toth Band lp. Royal Trux/Howling Hex & Wooden Wand playing southern rock? How could I pass that up.
I'm a sucker for the more novelty vinyl pieces (shaped, colored, both), so with that in mind, here's my hopeful list
Ryan Adams - Come Pick Me Up D'Angelo - The Charade Bob Dylan - The Basement Tapes Father John Misty - I Love You, Honeybear Florence + the Machine - What Kind Of Man Jaco Pastorius - The Warner Years Elvis Presley - My Happiness St. Paul & the Broken Bones - Live From the Alabama Theater The White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan
FJM, Elvis, St. Paul, and White Stripes are definitely at the top of my list. And I try to stick to 3 or 4 a year.

Ha, I'm the exact opposite, I want all my records to be standard 12", because storing anything else bugs me. Even 7" records bug me, but I still keep buying them.
That's just my hangup, I like my record collection to look neat, but honestly its always a bit of a mess despite how I want it to look. I did just spend some time last weekend alphabetizing everything though.

Anyone know of any RSD lists with the potential prices? I usually find one but have been so busy lately I haven't looked hard. That usually gives me some kind of idea of what I may be paying if I can grab a variety of my wants.

What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

I have my collection separated out neatly. All my normal 12"s are together and alphabetized, 7"s and shaped 7"s are the same way, box sets have their own little space. The worst things are 10"s. I only have 2 and can never figure out where to put them
Unfortunately Son of a Beek won't be able to pick me up a few releases on RSD tomorrow (very much appreciate the offer though!). I found out that the local record store in SA is open til 9 tomorrow night. I get off shift at 6, and it's a 2 hour drive to it. Going to call them around 5ish and see if they still have anything in stock. On their FB page, they said they got 200 of the 500 RSD releases. They are more punk/metal oriented, so not sure if they'd pick up William Onyeabor or !!! to begin with. Going to hope they did, and no one else wanted them though!
Wish me luck!
Who knows, might find a couple cool metal releases I've been eyeing for a while.
Just rolled by my record store. They got 25 copies of the Elvis 10" in from third man and the owner told me he's never had anyone line up before 8am! (Last year in CT I lined up at 1am and was 30th in line)

I remember being a kid in the mid-late 80s when my sister had vinyl singles. I broke one in half while jumping on her bed. It took her years to forgive me.
