Visited a record store in Bowling Green, KY called Mellow Matt's during my visit and picked up my first Volta vinyl! As well as two cool, cheap pieces:
The Mars Volta - The Bedlam In Goliath (when I pulled up to the store, I saw the vinyl for "Octahedron" and got super excited... they had just gotten in this, Octa, "Noctourniquet", and "Amputechture" a few days earlier. Nocto and Amp sold within the first day.) Jackson Browne - The Pretender MC 900 Ft Jesus - I'm Going Straight To Heaven (single/EP)

On an impulse I bought Bedlam In Goliath a while ago and was pleasantly surprised of the red/black vinyl and the bonus Ouija board dial single that was included. Very nice packaging on that one

Looks like Best Buy messed up when they posted THIS Run the Jewels 3 vinyl on their site.
WARNING!! Before you get excited and hit purchase, the cost of that vinyl is the same as the CD cost. I assume they just mixed up the cost with the description. If you search for the album it will come up with this cost and the typical $29.99 cost.
I bought it in hopes that they will honor their mistake to those who purchased it for the cheaper cost.
Has anyone else dealt with this kind of issue from Best Buy or other retailers?
I've sold my vinyl player, and as I await my next one... I've been using my vinyl-listening down time to catalog my vinyl. Has anyone on here tried the Discogs app? I love it. On newer vinyl, you can even scan the barcode of the album and then choose the edition you have. Once you filter it down to vinyl they are usually easy to find. This could be great if you are on vacation and visiting a local store in the area and find an album you aren't entirely sure you own. You could just pull up the app and quickly do a search. My collection is not that big, but I've had fun cataloging the first 1/4 of my albums.

Amazon will usually honor the price (at least they do on Criterion movies they price wrong on pre-orders). I have a feeling Best Buy might not, though. It seems like they would be legally bound to it so hopefully they will...
Todd Rundgren - Something/Anything Angela Morley - Original Soundtrack from Watership Down McGuinn, Clark, and Hillman - McGuinn, Clark, and Hillman Tortoise - The Catastrophist (clear variant) The Mars Volta - Noctourniquet (just came in through Discogs... cover has corner wear, but media and internal contents are in great shape)
The full Mars Volta discography is the first thing I bought when I got my turntable a few years ago. Found someone on eBay that listed the whole thing for like $250 or something. Hell of a deal for the amount/rarity of some of the releases. I think it was literally every vinyl release of theirs, save the glow in the dark Frances the Mute that sounds like shit.
Yeah, I've been bit by the bug. Since my quest to find Skinny Puppy vinyl has proven rather difficult, I guess this is where I go next in terms of getting records by my favorite acts. The guy at the record shop in KY where I found "Bedlam" told me not to spend too much on the original pressings of "Deloused" and "Frances" because they had poor sound quality, and that it's best to look for the reprints. One of my buddies has those original pressings, but vowed to never play them so I have no first hand knowledge of this. Next one I'm going to try to get if I can find it at a decent price is "Amputechture", and "Octa" seems pretty affordable and readily available on the second hand market, so I will hold off on that one. I would like to find a decent priced "Scabdates" though, as well (even though I hate the post production on the Cicatriz from that album, which is an otherwise amazing performance).
So I blew my receiver. Don't ask. Sent the ball and chain to the store because I was working. He could not find one with a phono preamp except high end. Bought it. Could have gotten an add on phono preamp. Do those work as well?

yes, an add on phono pre will be fine. only difference is you'll have extra cables, have to find someplace to put the external phono pre, etc. what kind of receiver did you end up with? what was your old receiver?

Old was Denon, new is Yamaha.
i like denons and yammys. whats the model number of the new yammy? they offer lots of integrated amps at good prices with phono pres (not sure if you need hdmi or not). they are great looking too, i've always wanted to buy one similar to below, but never had a reason to:
Friendly reminder - The Chemical Bros reissues should be arriving this Friday (1/13) at your local record stores (and online of course, but you should support your local shops)
There are 1000 limited editions of each that will be of a colored vinyl, and regular variants (black) - I believe the limited editions are 2xLP. Not sure on the regulars.

I have to admit - I'd only heard their last two albums before today. I've been going back today and tackling their earlier albums and love them.
Hit the motherload today. Huge DJ collection. 1,000+ records. Did my first dig, through the first 500_ today (have to pick up the other half and found nearly 200 winners that were 90+ VG+) Biggest highlight to me personally the first 4 Bassbin Twins Records all in VG or better condition. Great Rabbit In the Moon - Possession copy. The Cure 12" single in damn near mint condition. When Doves Cry in mint condition Literally so much good stuff im riding a high.
Jackson Browne - Late For The Sky (my favorite of his albums, and definitely one of my favorite 70s rock albums) Egyptian Lover - The Alezby Inn (always forget how great this guy was at Moogfest a few years ago, and this is a seemingly tough record, and a total blind buy) David Bowie - Golden Years (odd, random early 80s compilation record of the Station To Station/Young Americans/Eno/Scary Monsters period featuring many songs I don't yet have on the format... and it was cheap) Duran Duran - Rio (haven't received it yet, but ordered from eBay, original pressing sealed... probably going to hold out for a player copy in the future)

Just a heads up if anyone is interested.
Run the Jewels 3 was released and some record stores got copies that came with a collectible gold chain (likely not real gold, but someone who got one said it was metal and not plastic). Supposedly this website is selling the copies that come with the chain. I just ordered one but not sure how legit the offer is. They claim it comes with it but I have never bought from here before:
The mighty return of Run The Jewels! El-P and Killer Mike are back with the third installment of the hugely popular Run The Jewels project. This time around RTJ are releasing it on their own label with a gang of collabs from the likes of Danny Brown, Trina, Kamasi Washington, TV On The Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe and more. Comes on gold colored vinyl with poster, sticker sheet, and lyric insert. This is the indie exclusive version that comes with a collectible gold pendant. Don't sleep!
limited edition of 3000 Indie Exclusive version w/ collectible gold pendant gold colored vinyl includes poster, sticker sheet + lyric insert release date: 01/13/17 music label: Run The Jewels 2017

Turntable Lab is legit, and I can vouch that shops are doing this as supplies last (w the bling) - you should be fine
Separate mention to everyone - The Chem Bros releases are cut from the original lacquers - they sound excellent, imo
I need some help, if someone has a few moments. I am getting a pair of Martin Logan SL-3 speakers and need to get a good receiver/amp to drive them. Anyone have any suggestions? Also, that U-Turn turntable looks pretty good, are there any others that I should be looking at?

Just made some choice pickups at my local store:
Massive Attack - Mezzanine (which oddly enough I found in the punk section) Hawkwind - Warrior On The Edge Of Time Iron Butterfly - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (colored psychedelic swirl vinyl that looks amazing) Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings And Food Beck - Odelay The Beatles - Hey Jude
I wanted to snag some of those Chemical Bros reissues, but they were fucking pricey.
