I also noticed Sheriffs driving ATVs down the main road and on Sunday down Shakedown and busting all the nitro sellers/buyers.
Thank God! Our camp was right off shakedown and we had a little problem with nitros dealers. Friday night a team of about 8 had some tanks set up next to my friend's car (which was next to mine) We told them to leave many times and they would tell us "just a few more minutes" every time we asked them. We ended up all going to bed before they left, but I could still hear them and the 20+ people they attracted at all times until the sun came up. Saturday morning we found a random guy sleeping in one of our tents next to two of my friends and my friends iphone was stollen out of his car. We talked to our neighbors and they had a backpack with $500 stolen too. Then that night they came back and set up between two cars in our group. We repeativly told them to get the fuck out but again they were too fucked up to care about anyone but themselves. We ended up filing a police report and undercover po's came and arrested two of them.
I have nothing against people having fun but this is the one drug i have no respect for anyone who uses it. Nitros attracts a bad crowd and turns them into zombies who could fall over dead any second. And we also witnessed their prices go from $5 a balloon to $20 a balloon in about an hour.

$20?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? The balloons I saw for $5 were tiny. That's just crazy talk. n2o is a part of the festival scene unfortunately. I wouldn't have liked that they set up right next to me, but I wouldn't have called the cops. I'm too much of a believer in karma.

I was woken up on sunday around 7 in vol camping by a younger blacked headed guy and an older heavyset guy that were selling balloons and arguing because the younger guy had gotten arrested earlier in the night. The bigger guy looked like he was trying to be inconspicuous by wearing all the usual hippie garb, but the younger guy looked like a thug.
the balloon noise wasn't that bad but they hung around for about 45 mins talking on the phone and arguing with one another, and i still couldnt get a free balloon
BTW these werent small they were big ass orange ones
I think the security of the festival was really chill. when they open the gates on friday they began with a ziploc of confiscated drugs....half an hour they had a trash can glad bag.they are just doing their job.
Just let me say this- by doing undercover busts, the police were not commiting "entrapment". Every police department does undercover work. You've seen it on Cops plenty of times. Officer asks if they want to buy, a deal is made, the arrest goes down. That's perfectly legal. Look up the definitions of entrapment before you start accusing. The officers who work Bonnaroo aren't there to kill your buzz or ruin your good time. They're there to keep you safe and to make it easier for everyone else to have fun and be safe. Sorry guys, but NO NO WORDS are ILLEGAL. We sometimes forget that Bonnaroo isn't outside the law.
Anyway...
I thought that security was very relaxed this year. I can't imagine them getting bent out of shape over something unless it was a big deal... officers have to think about their own safety, too. Sometimes what the general public sees as "excessive force" is the officer doing exactly what he or she is trained to do. They can go one step higher to make sure that the situation doesn't escalate. Wouldn't you rather them put someone on the ground than have them have to draw their guns/tasers?
It was funny though how they would be going through everything with a fine tooth comb then suddenly the super would say 'let em in' and the gates would just open up for 30 seconds then shut back down for a few minutes. It was like random tests at work. You never know to who or when it would happen.
exactly. i think i said this in another post but i guess i got lucky and happen to be in the 30 seconds of "just let everyone in" every time i went in. One time i walked straight in with the crowd only to turn around and see everyone else, including my friends, getting very throroughly searched. Good thing all the stuff we werent supposed to have was on me.

I was in VIP and there were 2 instinces at the VIP arch entrance. I saw one, and heard about the other when I was almost busted myself. The first one we saw, was the horsemen turning around and taking off so we decided to chase them, it was nighttime and we couldn't see much but one guy on the ground by the yellow security shirt and then the horsemen took over. They were nice to us while we were watching, we aren't really the type to intervien on our own accords. They searched the grounds with their little flashlights so it seemed like the guy was about to get busted trying to enter Centeroo so he took off back into the campgrounds but didn't make it far.
The next one, I had a legal prescription bottle for pain killers but I put some caffeine pills in their too so when security opened it up he told me that he'd have to take them, but then he got a terrified look on his face when I almost started crying that I really do need them and he shoved them into my bag after looking around to see who was watching him, then he practically pushed me into centeroo and told me to hurry up. I got back to my campsite and they said not 10 minutes before I went in that there was a big NO NO WORD!!! bust of two VIPers with packages of corn thrown out onto the ground.

i bet your a hit at parties.
Sorry dude, but it's the truth. I have first hand-experience at this stuff and I know how to look at it from a different side.
I must be in the minority here, but I thought security getting into Centeroo was much tougher this year and there were more mounted patrols on shakedown. Getting in with the car was no hassle at all, but getting through the arch seemed to take forever and most times they searched me really well compared to years past.
I agree the search going into Centeroo was more intense this year than past
I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name right---P.T. Barnum "As I was walking up the stairs I met a man who wasn't there He wasn't there again today I wish to God he'd go away."

it really depends on which line you go to and what time you go in...........but I did seem to be missing a few of the older, cooler looking staff members with santa beards. Lotsa young guys who didn't look like having fun.

I agree here- it seemed like the search was more intense at certain parts of the day-usually around 7pm for me, but after about 11, I wasn't hassled much at all. I also LOVED when the security guys would open up the line and let 20-30 people through with no searching at all. Made my day.
As I was leaving Centeroo on Friday around 6pm, I saw two kids probably 20 years old pulled off to the side of the main exit and they were being interrogated by about 4 big guys in gray "Staff Safety" shirts. Apparently they had been busted selling NO NO WORDS or they got caught coming into Centeroo.
Anyway I decided to stop about 20 feet away and watch what was going on. One of the kids they had stopped was clearly under the influence of NO NO WORDS and had little idea of what was going on, you could tell he was really scared and probably thought these people were going to hurt him.
While the 4 gray shirts were interrogating the other kid this poor kid decided he would try to run off. Immediately he was tackled by 4 huge guys and thrown to the ground. While he was on the ground 3 of the guys held him down while the 4th guy grabbed him by the hair on the back of his heat and repeatedly struck him on his head probably about 7 or 8 times.
While this was happening younger kids wearing yellow "Safety" shirts formed a perimeter and told me to keep walking. I told him absolutely not and that I have every right to stand exactly where I am. I told him that the officer was completely out of control and that beating that poor kid was completely unnecessary. He just told me to that if i didn't walk away that he'd get yelled at.
I wanted to know if anyone else on here saw that or anything else similar to that this year at Bonnaroo. I wish i had videotaped it. I also saw undercover police committing entrapment, that is asking someone if he wants to buy NO NO WORDS and then when they were interested arresting them.
Anyone else witness anything like that?
I actually do not really have a problem with that. The kids decided to participate in illegal activity and the dumbass decided to run away while being questioned. Not a smart move at all. And for you to stand there was another not so smart move. If that had been a police investigation they could have arrested you for obstruction.

As far as I know, you have a legal right to observe an arrest. I think you can be as close as 6 ft. But of course a police officer is going to tell you to get back for his and your safety. You cannot be charged with obstruction, unless you are actually obstructing.

I witnessed a CRAZY incident Sunday night during Phish. My little brother and I were emptying our tent just as the sun was setting. All of a sudden we heard a lot noise, muffled screaming and yelling. At first glance I thought a group of guys were playing tackle football, but the tackling didn't lay off. I noticed three guys had one guy pinned to the ground and were roughing him up.
I am not one for violence so I shined my flashlight on them and shouted really loud, "What are you guys doing over there?" This one dude came over and said, "Don't worry, he sold us some bad stuff, so we're just trying to get our money back and give him what he deserves."
It sounded like they were killing the guy. I was freaking out, because I couldn't just stand there and let these guys badly hurt this guy. So I told my bro to not look over at all and pack as fast as possible. Then I heard a clicking sound, which sounded like those plastic hand cuffs. The same guy walked over. I said, "I don't care what you have to say, I don't want to be involved, it's your business, don't include me in your shit." And he said, "Sorry for lying to you miss, but we're with the sheriff's department and we are arresting him for selling hard drugs. Please don't tell anyone, we're undercover and we see your concern. We won't even search you." I was like, "We don't have anything on us anyway."
Then we saw the other under-covers pull out the baggies and put it into his face, the kid was flat on the ground. They had him handcuffs. Ugh. I'm not gonna lie, but I was so happy to hear he was getting busted, then getting harmed for a bad deal. Anyway, scary stuff. Be careful folks.
That guy was looking for a fight. My friend almost got him, but he also didn't want to fight a naked dude. He was trying to get women to undress as well, sometimes trying to help, so really, he needed an ass kicking. To the OP, that is ridiculous! I didn't see anything like this, had no problems the two times I entered at two different toll booths, and got beer into Centeroo often.
We were sitting in line for the Beastie Boys pit when the naked dude came up and tried rubbin his junk on a girl sitting a few spots behind us. I was able to watch the whole thing, the dude deserved what he got. They ended up wheeling him out strapped to a body board with a surgical mask on because he was hitting, kicking and spitting at the security and med staff. I do have pics of when security made him stand facing the wall and also right before they beat his @ss.
this is exactly what i saw. iwas 10 feet behind the girl when he started rubbing his junk. security did as good a job as possible to limit the problem. all force was necessary, and deserved.

I spent eleven and a half hours in line, and an F-3 tornado touched down across the highway from our campsite on Thursday night - though no search was performed at the gate. My friend from CO made it to the festival at around 3 AM, spent a small amount of time in line and was searched (raped) by the security. Each person in the vehicle received over $500 in tickets that night. He got a better camping spot than me though he had luke skywalker (I was there in 06) I had clark griswald (I was there in 08) : (

An F-3 tornado? Really? What Bonnaroo were you at?

That's the first I've heard about any tornado on thursday night. I know we were under a tornado watch but not warning. That means that the conditions were right but no rotation was detected.

I was gettin text updates from meteorologist dad (and sports updates too, but that's a different matter entirely). If a tornado touched down while I was there I would have known.

You would of known and maybe had enough time to take your last poop.
Tornado warning does not equal touchdown, and thats coming from an Okie.

Yeah the tornado never happened. The wind wasn't even all that strong. I was outside at the staff trailer when the warning was issued.
Also if your firends all got 500$ fines then the security was doing their jobs in finding stuff and your friends were not doing their job in hiding stuff.

Oh, sorry, I expressed an opinion that was different from everyone else's. Damn me for being different...
