It happened during NIN cause some of our group stayed at the camp site till 1 am. We were in POD 3 behind the showers. They slashed open my tent, took my purse and my medal ten with my money in it from the cooler and even took my flip flops! I ended up getting my purse back completely empty cause they got caught at the camp site right next to ours and dropped a bunch of the stuff they had taken but ran off before anyone could catch them.
There were three book bags and a bunch of odds and ends strewn all around their camp site. I gathered up all the stuff in the three book bags and took it to lost and found so at least people could get some of their stuff back. Then I made the treck to the big tower by the ferris wheel to report it. They said there had been a lot of break ins this year.
Luckily my wallet was locked in the car and all they got was the cash and my shoes. We had been doing great on cash so there was a lot left that they got away with but we decided it wasn't going to ruin our time and could have been a lot worse. It sucked sleeping in the tent with a huge hole but we ended up having a great Sunday with what little we had on us and just trashed the tent on Monday.

i never left my backpack in my tent, i was too paranoid about someone taking it. good luck next year...at least you didnt have all your money in there.
Somebody stole my backpack Sunday night. Luckily all they got was a pair of worn out flip flops, some beef jerkey, toiletries, and some dirty underwear.
If I am at any music festival, not just roo my rule is simple. If I care about it, it stays in my tent, on my person, or locked in my car. Also I try not to leave closed bags around at all, someone will steal a closed bag just on speculation.
I was not far from you (over where Zack Deputy was playing all night. I had a green flag with a flamingo on top) and there were some suspicious characters around at times. I have no tent and locked everything of real value in my truck but no one stole my whiskey or anything. Curious as to how they knew there was something of value in your tent.

My neighbor had his tent stolen on Sat night while he was gone. The entire tent was gone, just a yellow circle in the grass where it once stood. Even took his stakes.

I am picturing a wook wearing worn out flip flops, toilet paper hanging off one, chewing on beef jerky, wearing dirty undies.

That sucks balls, did he end up having to sleep in his car? But.... Imagine coming back to that one.
'Scratches head', "Now I know I camped around here somewhere." and wanders off away from site looking for his tent.
I pulled that one about 50 times over the weekend. ^

Damn that sucks! My friend's husband had his backpack stolen also, though not sure if it was at his tent.
We saw some shady looking people wandering around near our campsite a few times. I made sure they knew we were watching them. It's really sad that people do this kind of stuff
I saw a couple trying to pull the old gypsy trick of setting their bag down right next to or on top of someone else's stuff at the Merle Haggard concert. While the guy watched the concert, the girl kept looking around, mostly down, at what was where. Very suspicious.
I lost my camera and no one bothered to turn it in. Certainly my own fault, but it sucks that someone took it.
Considering all the nuts that were floating around on Sunday night, I feel lucky that nobody stole our stuff. Somebody did tip my tables and chairs over while we were sleeping in our tent, but he was in a really bad place. When my husband confronted him (nicely) and asked him to leave, he started crying and said his friends didn't like him. Had he not knocked all my stuff over, I would've felt sorry for him.
Someone broke into our screened-in gazebo (which we had left locked) but they did not take anything as far as we could tell. They were probably after the cooler, but I had it chained to two chairs and a table. All our beer was still in the cooler and our stove and food were unmolested. Maybe we got lucky and they got interrupted. Or maybe they saw cheap beer, bottled water, pasta, and nutritional yeast and said "f this, I aint stealin that stuff."
They did break the zipper-pulls, though, in their break-in. =/
Totally sucks that people had their stuff swiped, but there seems to always be so much theft at 'Roo, I try to lock up all our stuff, but it isn't always possible or convenient to do so, especially since we switched from the tent to sleeping in the back of our hatchback.
But I've heard voices not in the head Out in the air they called ahead Through ripped out speakers Through thick and thin They found a shelter Under my skin -Evgeny Aleksandrovitch Nikolaev
Neighbor had his backpack taken and from what I heard almost started a fight over it. My camp had people constantly going through our cooler and stuff, but nothing other than a few water bottles taken and I can totally live with that. We were along the edge of the road and I think that makes a big difference. Last year we were along a road, but not a heavily traveled one near the RVs and there were no problems.

I was in pod 1 and there were no problems, maybe because it was pretty much separate from the rest of the festival, or maybe because everyone who was there got there early, before the official opening of the gates. However last year I had my backpack stolen with all my clothes in it in tent only camping. The kicker was they must have taken it when I was sleeping because I went to sleep with it there, and when I woke up it was gone. I was on the road, and I think that they targeted my tent because it was easy access. I brought a car this year and locked everything in there when I didn't have it on me.

Of all the beer and various things that could have been stolen from me, the only thing that the bastards took is my fizzy grapes and oranges. I was really looking forward to eating them and they had vanished by Friday morning.

One of our coolers disappeared, so we lost a lot of beer and other drinks as well as some deodorants - it's hard to say what part of that we were most upset about! ;D

I got through unscathed this year but last year I left my $5 Cardinals hat right outside my tent with my glasses and someone took off with that and only that and ditched my glasses in the next campsite. Talk about ridiculous. I feel for all of you that got stuff stolen it sucks that a few people can ruin such a great time.

man, i didn't see any of this kind of stuff in VIP.
You'll have to excuse my sarcasm, but gee... I wonder why???
I didn't trust my weird neighbor guy in Volunteer camping. He had many stories that didn't jive. He was also manipulative. He acted amazed at my camp stove and then asked to make oatmeal on it. He helped himself to my bottled water and bought stuff that he put in my cooler. The worst offense was when he brought a girl back to camp and cooked dinner with her on my stove. That's like inviting someone over for dinner at someone else's house. He also kept moving my stuff... (Where's my umbrella? -Oh, I put it in your car for you) and leaving his nasty hat everywhere. I kept everything locked up, which I would have done anyway, but especially because of him. He claimed to go to a lot of festivals, but didn't know what Shakedown Street was. I suspect a psychiatric or a criminal history. His behavior was just so bizarre.

we were also around pod 3, camp ed rooney and we had someone run through our site saturday night after we went to bed and again sunday while we were in centeroo. biggest losses were wallet, bubbler, handles of booze and some tarps. they also destroyed one of the ez up legs apparently trying to steal the other tarps attached to it.
was stupid to leave somethings out and around the table we had but it sucks that people came through.
there was some sketchy dudes walking through the sites at like 5 AM on saturday morning too, me and my friend were just in the chairs not being able to fall asleep and we hear two guys walking around and one says "this isnt where were camped" and then someone pokes their head into our closed off site and obviously surprised to see us says "oh what up bonnaroo" and then the other guy yelled at him. i couldnt help but wonder what he would have done if we hadnt been sitting there.
we were in a rush to leave came for beastie boys and the camera got eft out under our canopy right on the cooler. we were equally worried it would get rained on or stolen it was waiting for us when we rushed back right after beastie boys. family camp is pretty mellow though.
