Ok...so the guy from CoS has said that his "sources" lead him to believe that neither McCartney, The Stones, or The Who will play Bonnaroo in 2010. I would have guessed at least one of these...but then again they could be bluffing. But, if this is true, does anyone have any ideas of who will be at the top of the bill??
Dylan? Radiohead? Neil Young? Zeppelin?? haha...wishful thinking
Thank. F*cking. God. Please let CoS be right here.
No more rock dinosaurs. No more re-hashed, half-assed versions of bands that were great 30 years ago (see also: The Allman Brothers and The Dead/Furthur/whateverthef*cktheycallthemselves this time). If you're going to bring back some classic, old-school sounds, please don't let it be bands that have toured themselves to death with the same tired material for the last 30 years.
Just out of curiosity......if you could pick the 3 headliners who would it be and why? I've seen you bashing what other people want for headliners but I didn't see who you'd rather see as Roo headliner. I'm interested to see who you'd pick

Where did he say Macca isn't playing?
On the Bonnaroo Outlook Page....down in the comments, and much to my disappointment he (Alex Young) says "Don't think Macca is happening." That was on Jan. 13th, but who knows what they have up their sleeve with all of these tweets/rumors flying around...

He doesn't have a source for that though, just what he thinks is going to happen.

I'd be very interested in this too. I was accused of being pretty negative on these boards a few days ago, but Jesus, my negativity is nothing compared to Jug's. I have no idea what kind of music he's into besides Mastodon. Enlighten us

True...I was just guessing there was some reasoning behind his post. But I hope you're right, and that Macca isn't out of the question.

Thanks Jugg........I'd certainly enjoy your headliners over many of the ones other people have been posting. Jay-Z definitely is the biggest rapper out there. There's nobody bigger than him. Eminem was huge for a moment 8 years ago but he faded away. Jay still brings it to his live shows. "Fade to Black" is one of the best music dvds I've purchased. Not only does he rap with such talent and grace, but he does it with many spectacular guests as well as a live band to back him. The Glasto video is hilarious as well.
Radiohead - I'm not a huge fan. To be honest I haven't gotten into them. I do like a few songs I've heard and probably would really like them more if I gave them the time and focus and started going through all their albums. But I also recognize their appeal and how huge they are as a band. They are also an amazing live act so good point.
White Stripes would be phenomenal.
With all that's been said......I hope they save a lineup like yours for next year (when I can go) and this year a lot of fans get KOL/DMB/Stevie Wonder/Further. That's me being selfish but oh well.

I totally agree with most of what you are saying. Except for DMB. I started seeing them in 98 and have seen them over 40 times since then. They are a band that has continually changed over the years. There new album sounds nothing like Under the Table and Dreaming. They've expanded their lineup to include Jeff Coffin from the Flecktones and Tim Reynolds. DMB's music is going to sound slightly similar to most casual listeners because Dave's voice is so unique. Sure, they still play their hits from 10-15 years ago, but Ive never seen a band who didn't.
FTR, I've seen Jay Z and was very disappointed, but that was several years ago, so I hope that his stage show has improved. Fade to Black concert was okay and Glastonbury was meh to me. The cover of Wonderwall was just about the worst thing I've ever seen. I know he meant well, but a little preparation is necessary to perform a good cover.
There is a large amount of close-mindedness on this board, I def agree with that. I'd love to see your lineup, but I'm just guessing that it won't happen. I really hope that we get Neil, MMJ, and Arcade Fire.
Everyone's taste in music is very different and that's a good thing. I just think things get too negative on this board.

I'm not sure he was covering Wonderwall with the intention that it be a "good cover". He didn't really play guitar and just strummed for the visual.....but the whole purpose of playing that song first was sort of like a "screw you.....i'm doing it" to Noel Gallagher. Or Liam. Whichever Oasis member complained about Jay-Z headlining the festival.

I would have to agree with juggernauts opinion on the classic rock headliner... Neil Young would be my number one choice but I would also love to see Roger Waters play the wall cuz its such a great album and I've never seen it performed and likely will never get the chance to see it performed so that would be great for me... Bruce and bands like that just dont do it for me though

also: I saw Jay-z in november. one of the best concerts I've ever been to...he had a 10 piece band, tons of guests (Bleek, Pharrell, etc). just awesome

Dave and Friends was amazing. I caught that show in Chicago and at 04 roo. I really wish he'd revive that but add to it with some of the people that he collaborates with. ie...Warren, Bela, Victor, and keep Trey and Tim in the mix. Brady plays mean drums but Dave could bring out someone else, maybe Futureman (as long as he doesn't play too much drumitar)

I guess live rap just doesn't do it for me, cuz I was totally bored with the above video. Different strokes. I wouldn't miss his show though. In fact, I think I'd wait for the pit because that's the only way that it'd be any fun for me. I have friends who said they are going to see him soon. One loves rap and his girl is a str8 hippie whose musical tastes jive with mine. I'll see what she says about the show.

^As a DMB fan, I would MUCH prefer another Dave and Friends set, I was at the show, downloaded it in Fall 2004, and STILL wear it out. WAY better than any DMB I've ever seen IMO.
I've never got into rap, except maybe The Roots and Arrested Development. To me Jay-Z would be a waste of a headliner spot. I don't begrudge those that want him there soon. I'd check him out for a little while at least. Kind of like I did with Metallica.
As far as Jay-Z goes, I think his show would be awesome. He has so much crowd interaction in all his shows, and Bonnaroo crowds are fucking ridiculous (many artists comment on how awesome they are), I just think it would be a great combination.

Well I haven't really been here since last year. Please give us a break and no jay-z, just let coachella have him. Yes I have read all the reviews from Glastonbury 2008 but I will pass. KOL, naw. I hope for Radiohead a bunch. Seen them about 5 times and they are always a night to remember (esp at red rocks 1st row:) .... Lastly Neil all the way. I went to 8 bridge shows and I have seen Neil maybe 30 times. He never gets old to me. cr****

canexplain, stop your complaining. You will watch Jay-Z and you will like it. He'll probably go on past your bed time so you won't even notice he's there.

yeah i hate seeing legends of rock play with talented musicians like Derek Trucks and Joe Russo...
edit: and then you go ahead and say you would like to see Neil Young....
