I am thinking about saving room and cutting waaay back on the amount of food I bring this year. I have a couple people who plan on going for the first time and they will tend to think it's a good idea to bring multiple coolers of just food.
Can we get a list going of food sold by vendors at Roo so people with the same idea can somewhat prepare themselves with what options they have to buy and what they should pack?
I know I have ate the following
- 1$ Grilled Cheese - Gyros - Chicken & Steak Fajitas - Chicken on a Stick - Pizza (add toppings because I forgot what the options were)
- Fried Alligator (yep, seriously) - Burgers - Chicken Basket - I think someone had wood-fired pizzas
Whole Foods had their little store last year, too. They had all sorts of snacky-type food and fresh fruit. I thought it was comparably priced to the other vendors. Those fruit popsicles were tha BOMB! My roomie and I were the WF popsicle twitter-poster children

I second the Samosas and sweet potato fries!! I spent $6 and had enough food for 2. The Samosas came in all kinds, I had the ones with potatoes and other veggies in them - wonderful stuff!!
Gotta love the arepas! Oh, and the fried gator is delicious, seriously one of my favorite parts of goin' to 'Roo. And yes there was a brick oven pizza place there this past year. Pretty sure it was close to the Brewers Tent and the pizza was AMAZING. Other foods I remember: -burritos -pancakes -funnel cake
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts
there was a vendor that had gravy fries and those were delicious! i think it was next to the spicey pie vendor near the that tent. spicey pie, corndogs and arepas were also very good.
I had some kind of deep fried egg roll type thing with sauce squirted into the middle. It was very messy and very yummy!! Maybe Jerry Rolls? I don't know but it was good!
the arepas were awesome, we ate plenty of them. i had a huge crepe from near wherever santigold was playing with ham/broc/chz. kiddo loved the frozen lemonades and virgin daiquiris. we had cold sesame noodles and dumplings and sweet potato fries during reggae afternoon for like $12 and it was more than plenty for the three of us to eat. the bbq was a little overpriced and the place was muddy-flooded. ugh. the funnel cakes were awesome, shared one with kiddo during phish sunday. had my first ever falafel and it was delicious. ate some kind of meat on a stick after buffett that had great sauce. we got chinese food and wood fired pizza and grilled cheese the last day, but the grilled cheese was $2 or $2.50.
never found the famed $1 grilled cheese, pesto or any kind of mozzadilla, or the wonder waffles. :-(

Sounds like a Jerry Roll to me, they have been one of my favorite concert treats since the early 90's.
how did i mis all this great stuff? jerry rolls sound good. were these to be found in centeroo or out in the campgrounds. we were in family camp which was just past access on the 'tower' road, so we didnt cut through a lot of campgrounds...
The Jerry Rolls were halfway down shakedown, they are grated carrots, and cabbage wrapped in a fried dough with a shot of duck sauce, and hot sauce inside.
Oh man, the corndogs! I never liked corndogs, not even as a kid. I tried a bite of the corndog my boyfriend bought a 'Roo and probably had at least 3 or 4 after that. It must be the breading.
Also, they sold butterfly fries (I think that is what they were called) at the same place they sold the corndogs with this cheese sauce that were also great. I'm pretty much weak in the knees over anything fried or cheese, though, and especially for anything that is both cheesy and fried. Bonus points if it also has bacon.
My boyfriend is a huge fan of the good jerk chicken. Apparently, there is also a bad jerk chicken vendor there, too?
ETA: We also had a Wonder Waffle, but with no ice cream. It was a sausage patty, syrup and waffle sandwich. It was pretty good.
Breakfast Burritos last year (I believe the stand was called Hmmm Burritos)
They were so dang good!!!!
and quite a few vendors last year did Sweet Potato Fries but I went back to where I had gone many times before to get them, but not sure of the vendors name....

I tend to avoid eating much during the fest. it's usually a grilled cheese sandwich at camp before heading into Centeroo and power gels after that. In 2008 I supplemented a couple of slices of Spicy Pie (yum). That was the plan for 2009 until I found the Indian food vendor near That Tent (the sign was for Indian Burritos) on Sunday. I had a naanwich (Tika chicken and other goodies on naan bread). Total Awesomeness.

man those sound good! gotta keep an eye out next year! are you talking about the food vendors toward the entrance but not exactly inside centeroo? otherwise i have no idea where shakedown was.
