Just got finished watching a little of the 09 dvd. I'm at the beginning of Cage the Elephant for like 3 seconds...have not watched all of it yet but so far....the DVD is so so.

Even though the list of songs was available before the DVD, I'm still pretty disappointed.
The Snoop Dogg selection is just terrible. It was the weakest song of the set, in my opinion. And besides, who wants to watch two rap acts on the What Stage - especially considering the fact that the BB weren't even playing instruments during "Intergalactic."
"Outlaw Pete" was a pretty lame choice, too.
The Zac Brown Band song was actually pretty awesome. I'm also cool with "DWD" being the Phish song for the DVD.
Just watched mine, A) It is FANTASTIC even if I thought the artist selection was kinda weak and B ) for the second year in a row I made it onto the DVD!! Andrew Bird, first crowd shot, guy standing dead in the middle, blue shirt, close cut short brown hair, and sideburns! Go me!
(2008 you can see me rocking out at the Gogol show...)
"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
Once again, this DVD is a disappointment, for me at least. Not even sure if there's an option to buy one for 2010 but I will NOT be including it with my ticket purchase this year.
The shipment tracker said it was supposed to be delivered yesterday, but wasn't. Hopefully it will come today because I noticed that the shipment tracker removed the delivery date.
Yeah, this DVD sucks. Since the song selection was so sucky I was kinda hoping that they would make up for it by showing some interaction with the Bonnaroo goers and maybe some artist interviews.
Its pretty much all performances and following some photographer guy around.
^Ditto on this. My favorite part of 370 Miles to Graceland was the interaction with festival goers. The director was able to capture the "spirit of the festival." (Forgive the cliche.)
especially considering the fact that the BB weren't even playing instruments during "Intergalactic."
I didn't know that was a bad thing...
I'm just saying, if you're going to include videos of the two What Stage hip-hop acts, at least have the Beasties playing instruments. Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way, but I'd be more entertained with what I suggested.

HAHA dude the 5 guys all standing directly in front of you but to the right of you in the shot are with me. I'm not as clear in that shot but I'm in the cowboy hat andI found myself a few moments later with my hat off.
Anyway, I'm happy with the DVD. The songs didn't come from many shows that I saw, but for their respective genres I think they are all good performances and well recorded. And anything to help hold me over til 2010 can't hurt

I just finished watching mine. I have a few comments. There is a woman who, at the beginning of the dvd, said that Bonnaroo is the only time of the year that she could be herself. Wow, what a sad life she must lead.
From the shows that were featured on the DVD, I am glad that I didn't attend most of them, although it is hard to judge a set by one song.
Santigold looked weak. Glad I didnt go there.
I liked all of the Danny Clinch photog stuff but I love cameras. I wish they showed a little more of him.
BBoys--at least they didn't show the mess that was Sabotage. It made me realize that I need to get into the pit for at least one show this year.
Elvis/Jenny--Crap but at least they showed a collaboration and her nice legs. They managed to show the idiot demographic at Roo when they showed the girls singing about brushing teeth.
I noticed that they didn't show any of the rain storm on Thursday. How convenient to only show sunny skies.
Ben Harper looked fairly lackluster. Kind of cool to see his guitarist playing an electric 12 string though.
Cage the Elephant--hilarious full body suit that the lead singer was wearing. The convulsing got old fast. There were some interesting edits during the song visually. I think they showed an overflowing tent show and tried to pass it off for their set.
Amadou and Miriam reaffirmed my belief that I went to the right shows.
ZBB was awesome. It actually captured how good that set was. I just stayed there because it was raining, I was exhausted, and insidejoke wanted to stay there. Best decision I made all weekend. More bad editing where it showed a girl dancing outside the tent with no rain when it was pouring.
Coheed and Cambria--no comment other than it was fun to see the massive security guard man handle one kid. He just caught him on his shoulder and walked off with him.
Passion Pit. I know that people on this board love this band but he has the most annoying vocals of all time.
Del McCoury Band--I can't believe they didn't show one of the songs that Fishman sat in on. o/w cool.
Decemberists--I wish I would have gone to this show.
Phish--I'm glad they chose a song with a decent jam in the middle. I love seeing the sheer joy on Trey's face when he begins the solo. Disappointed that they didn't show any of the glow stick war, although I'm sure they would avoid showing anything against roo rules.
Raphael Saadiq--looked like a great time. I saw our tent by the ice truck in one of the photos.
Springsteen--this was the only song of the set Ive gotten to see since I was sleeping.
Fairly disappointed overall. The only other Roo dvd I have is from 2004 and it is superior to 2009 for sure.

I'm not thrilled with the selections but I enjoyed it well enough.
And I totally agree with questionablesanity about Passion Pit. Actually, when it started I was like 'damn, I can't believe I missed that!' -- and then he started singing! Oi.
After watching it again, I enjoyed allot of it, but it was not my bag.
I'll say best performances were The Decemberists, Phish, Amadou and Miriam, and Del Mcoury.
Worst goes to Snoop Dogg (I Wanna quack You? really?) and Passion Pit, who just may be one of the most overrated synth indie-pop acts I've heard. His vocals were horrendous on top of that retro electrash.
Outlaw Pete gets funnier every time I hear it. I keep changing it preppy names in my head, though. Outlaw Toby. Outlaw Chad. Outlaw Blaine. It makes the song more fun.
Well, I heard.... only custies dont like Passion Pit.
Call me what you like. His voice is god awful. I've heard a couple of their songs where he doesn't sing in that high pitch whine and it actually sounds good. I'm not sure why he insists on using that voice.
