According to Consequence of Sound, Phoenix is the first confirmed band for lolla this upcoming summer. Also when I saw the Flaming Lips in Chicago on Dec 11th, Wayne threw out a strong hint that they will be at lolla this year as well. Great start for the fest if you ask me.
the lollapalooza wikipedia page has x japan, phoenix, the flaming lips, drive-by truckers and beastie boys listed for 2010. if dead weather and them crooked vultures are added i'll have to go.

So I'm thinking of going to this this year if I can make it affordable. I can handle the travel expenses but what kills me is needing a hotel for 3-4 nights. It comes out to probably twice the cost of the tickets. Is there a cheaper way to do this?

get a LOT of friends to split the room with you. in 08, we stayed at the hard rock which was about a half hour walk to the festival. 6 of us crammed into a room with 2 beds and it worked out to be about $175 a person for 3 nights. ....and make sure you can get to at least 1 aftershow.

Yeah if I didn't have to deal with splitting a hotel room probably 2 or 3 ways, then I would be there in a heartbeat with a solid undercard. Now I can be left considering it until July.

Wow am I psyched. I live about 20 minutes from the city, so I always hit Lolla no matter what, but with this lineup, I'm nailing down my tickets early.
Best little buried nuggets in that article? Hot Chip and Cut Copy (assumedly in the Perry's tent which is one hell of an addition to the fest)?

thanks for the tip. even $90 is expensive for 3-4 nights though, on my budget. Not too bad if i can split it with a few friends. I might also look into couch surfing (www.couchsurfing.com), but that whole deal seems kinda awkward to me. My old roommate does it all the time though and she raves about it. Basically you just go on this site and ask to crash on someone's couch for the weekend. We hosted a couple people from france last year and it was actually pretty cool, but I feel wierd about showing up at a strangers house and just being like "uhhh hey... I'm gonna be sleeping on your couch. Thanks."
