thanks for malik beasley, was looking forward to finishing the season strong. dude can score
wouldn’t be a nuggets trade if we didn’t give a division rival a young star player :/ honestly hope he thrives though. Ill miss juancho the most though. He’s an angel.
was listening to a podcast with rosas. the timberwolves were planning for corona months in advance and started pulling at risk personal off the road weeks before the season was suspended. Organizational stuff like this gives us hope after more than a decade of futility.

Futility. It’s already been posted but since it was the last game...
If that’s for me, which one? I’ve got a few up my sleeves for tonight but I’m so fucking tired after eating all that shit I posted about in Food Fighters that I’m already incapacitated.

Biggest knock I can think of is that he takes shit too far sometimes and makes it about him when if he just shut up and let shit ride more, he wouldn’t be responsible for those occasional losses. He does the occasional bonehead play too but I feel like his shooting about makes up for both flaws.
clearly he's not a hall of famer, but JR is certainly in the upper tier of "how an nba career can go". broad character issues aside, he's a champ, a 6th man, he was part of multiple teams best years (Nuggs, Cavs, Knicks), will finish his career top 15 3pt made, and broad character issues included managed to keep it chill enough to last 16 yrs in the league.
J.R. is also a single-digit handicap golfer. I wonder how many stereotypes that busts. "Character issues," yes, but he's a good dude at heart, from what I've seen. And he was huge for the Cavs in 2015 and 2016, so we still love him here. We got a ring, so we can forgive him spacing out and dribbling out the clock instead of shooting or passing in the 2018 finals. And the time he left his man before an inbounds play to say what's up to somebody off the court (Jason Terry maybe?).
I saw a J.R. highlight reel on Youtube recently, and had completely forgotten how athletic he played and how he dunked in his younger days, before he became mostly a shooter.

I somehow don't remember ever hearing about that. Just looked it up, didn't see anything about being drunk, though he was a 21 year old dumbass driving recklessly, and neither guy was wearing a seatbelt. I guess he wasn't on my radar in 2007 or whatever, and that was never talked about when he played in Cleveland, for some reason. We just saw lots of 3's, and pics of him with his tiny preemie daughter.
Oh, but we didn't expect much when we got him and he wasn't scrutinized at the time, because the Knicks kind of said we had to take him if we wanted Shumpert, or so the story went.
He had pretty lousy ethics when he good teams he was on got bad
Him and his sister also beat the hell out of a bunch of fans in China iirc as well. They were being racist so I support it an extent but I can see how teams would be pissed about it.

More stuff I don't specifically remember. Doesn't sound like he did much, unlike his GF and sister. Kinda funny/sad, not that I condone fighting, of course. I do remember the fight referenced below involving Georgetown, which was complete BS, because the Chinese team were looking for a fight and could have hurt someone.
From brobible: "Smith's sister reportedly got into a fight in the stands of one of her brother's games, and allegedly choked a woman. During the Golden Bulls game against the Bayi Rockets (the same team that got into that huge donnybrook with Georgetown over the summer) Smith seemed to be fouled, but the officials did not make a call. Smith's sister went on a rampage and allegedly threw a bottle on the court before fighting fans in the stands. The question is, “Does J.R. Smith's sister have to choke a b*tch?” The answer is “yes.” An emphatic, larynx-crushing “yes.”
And this is from Deadspin: "I can report that Smith's sister and girlfriend are once again implicated in a fight that broke out last night during a game between J.R.'s Zhejiang squad and the host Tianjin. According to Chinese news sources, conflict erupted after Tianjin fans heckled J.R. Smith as he went to the line late in the third quarter. After what I believe to be Thunderstix were thrown onto the court by a spectator, Smith's girlfriend got into a shoving match with Tianjin fans while his sister flipped the crowd the double-bird. Stephanie Smith claims on her Twitter that she didn't start the fight "this time," and we can understand her description of the incident being different from Chinese sources that describe her as "a ton of bricks."
Lol ok that's what I was remembering, I feel like some fallout was because the Chinese fans didn't really take to the initial wave of lockout guys and a bunch of players said they had to deal with more racism there than over here

There's no way they actually have the playoffs, right? I can't see sporting events any time this summer being good for anyone, idk. Really missing NBA and NHL right now. Looking forward to The Last Dance.
I feel like there's a way to safely hold a reduced playoff, but it's going to waste valuable resources, put some people in jeopardy, and probably not be fair to the players. Idk I feel like there could be more injury and if they reduce seeds, or number of games, that would be shitty.
There’s some rumors of doing the playoffs in Vegas while basically quarantining the teams in a hotel. Doesn’t seem realistic until testing is readily available and much quicker.

Just saw that they're not going to make the decision until May. Looks like they may get the rapid blood (finger prick) testing by then. I'm very grateful they moved up The Last Dance.
if we somehow get more baskeball we're going to see some crazy statistical anomalies like emmanuel mudiay draining 3's just because he has a court in his backyard while giannis and others dont.
