i feel like i missed out on all the great foods. WHERE WAS THIS? i looked all over and somehow never found my way to a pesto mozzadilla, which i heard so much about!
best thing we had was the arepas, the giant crepe, and the cold sesame noodles.
i was looking for garlic grilled cheese, pesto mozzadilla and i never found either. also i heard tale of the wonder waffles so i'm on the lookout for these three this year.

To my knowledge there are 2 bearly edible stands. One is inside centeroo, close to the non-arch entrance. The other stand is among the official vendors in the campgrounds, along the main road. The pesto mozzadilla is available at both, but the grilled cheese can only be found at the stand in the campgrounds (and only after they are done serving breakfast)
The wonder waffle stand was right near the arch, on the campground side.

1$ Garlic Grilled Cheese was amazing,
My wife loved the Chicken Tika Masala Naanwhich she got it more then once. I really loved the gyros by the entrance and the Chinese plates were amazing. I'll definitely be checking out Bearly Edible this year and I <3 Spicy Pie with all these ringing endorsements. Oh man my mouth is watering just thinking about Roo food.

And all of these things are delicious ;D
thanks! we didn't do much campground wandering. we were in family camp and traveled that road to centeroo (arch entrance sometimes but mostly the other one) and back. this year we are going to make a point of doing more campground wandering in search of yummy foods. so excited!
also cant wait to have another roo arepa. i found some made by goya which were good, but not the same.
Simply one of the most delicious of foods. Large tortilla or spinach wrap, smeared liberally with delicious pesto, mozzarella, butter, and some tomatoes if you like that sort of thing (I hold off on the tomatoes personally). Grilled until melty, gooey, and excellent. I think that's about it. When I make them at home I might throw some feta and calamata olives or something on there too, so gooooood.

i would just like to state this thread has me starving, and I am officially just bringing extra money to eat roo food during the entire festival. also, i have no idea how the garlic grilled cheese are made, but I was inspired the other night by this thread and made a grilled cheese on french bread with provolone, cheddar, and garlic. man i cant wait for me first roo!!!!!!! yummm.

whatever you did was better.
$1 garlic grilled cheese = (the cheapest available) garlic powder, bread, cheese, and butter.

lol. thanks! either way, im buying some dollar grilled cheese!
I never thought about this but out of 3 years, I've never bought 1 food item in Centeroo. I've always ate at camp. I've never spent over 50 dollars while there either. Hmmmm, interesting.
I can remember buying 3 beers last year because I didn't feel like walking back to camp. Roo can be as expensive or as cheap as you want it to be. One of the reasons I love it

Gotta say the lamb gyros and blackened gator were some of the best food I've had outside of a good sit down restaurant. btw how much $$ do you bring for food each year?
I'd have to say I've NEVER spent more than $40-50 dollars on food in Centeroo @ Roo ANY year on food. Now beer...that can add up quick at $6 a cup/bottle. But pure food bill....is really cheep for me. Course I am one of those "one meal a day" people ESPECIALLY in the heat of summer, I lose my appetite and end up drinking LOTS of water and then wait to drink beer or anything else till the sun goes down. So I usually only buy one meal a day and make it count....then if I am staying up all night (not unusual) I might grap a slice of Spicy Pie to tide me over. Esp since I am not AT ALL a breakfast person. And I find I don't snack much at Roo...too busy! ;D

I made a cross between a pesto mozzadilla and a garlic grilled cheese last night. Lord have mercy, it was good. Whole wheat bread, mozzarella, roma tomatoes, fresh garlic, pesto, pan fried in real butter. Pair that with a spinach salad and tomato soup, and you have one happy belly.

Don't know the name of the vendor, but it's inside of centeroo and they sell the most amazing quesadilla. They serve it will sour cream, and some kind of carrot salsa on the side. Soooooo good

I had a quesadilla in 2008 for a late night snack, probably from this vendor. I remember that it was gigantic and it really hit the spot. They made it right in front of you.

This talk of food has me quite excited! I can't wait to try some of the different foods. Gator aye? Never had it...but does it taste like chicken? I am down for anything except shellfish which will cause a violent allergic reaction.
Are the garlic grilled cheese inside Centeroo? I am big on the Spicy Pie, and we had a GREAT burrito at the back of What Stage during the Boss last year.

Disregard my last post, I had not seen this for some reason! Campground grilled cheese it is!
