What about something to do with birds or birdcages? People often line them with newspapers and that could account for this being the funniest clue. Cage the Elephant? Andrew Bird? Any other guesses?

Maybe he's thinking since we're "so far from home" or off-base, he decided to just hand us the name of the news that covers important topics. You know you're importnat in the entertainment industry when you get your picture on the COVER of Rolling Stone, which makes Rolling Stone news that covers (puts on the cover) important people. That's a kind of tricky way to go about it, and this clue is supposed to be tricky.
A rolling stone is someone who is wandering, roaming, rambling. So who do we know ho is both a funny guy and a Ramblin' Guy ( ) - Steve Martin. With the Steep Canyon RANGERS you have another element of rolling stoneness.
Has anyone guessed the Stones yet? I mean Bonnaroo has music and music is an important topic....Rolling Stone covers music. Of course that would mean that Rod and Ron aren't going to be there which would be great for the Rockin/Lockin clue because if you look up Lock-in you see a reference to a Pub and didn't Rod and Ron and isn't there a Pub reference with the Faces and while you couldn't say Rod was a rockin with his latest albums but you definitely could say that Ron is rockin? Just wishful thinking on my part....I don't get to know most of the "cool" acts until I get to Bonnaroo....I am most familiar with the larger ones.

The Stones have been ruled out many times by many sources if im not mistaken...

yeah my bad. just thinking too much about the roo clues at midnight. should have remembered the earlier posts. next time i'll keep them to myself until morning when i can do some more research. haha.
I believe it is referring to clue 5. Found this bit of infomation thanks to wikipedia
2009 March 16, 2009 it was announced that the String Cheese Incident would reunite for the second annual Rothbury Music Festival held in Rothbury, Michigan. This was to be their only show of 2009. Now you can watch this show at www.iclips.net [5]((2009)) [6]
The band played an unannounced, invitation-only, "soundcheck" show at the Ogden Theater in Denver on June 24.[7]
In October 2009, Michael Travis told the Colorado Daily newspaper in Boulder, Colo.: "We are going to be playing some shows next summer and fall. We're not sure about the dates, but we're definitely going to be playing. We're excited to put all we can into this incredible meeting of music, hearts and minds. It's going to be exciting to reunite for those shows."[1]
Mostly out of left field guess here, but how about Eli "Paperboy" Reed & The True Loves?
Paperboy delivers the news that covers important topics. They are a soul/bluesy act, and DJJD did mention the blues in one of his tweets. Don't know if any way to connect "INCIdent", though.
djjdfarmhound 5 like 11, perhaps based on a specific INCIdent
INCIdent could be incorrect identification. There is the couple, the Salahis, who snuck into the White House State Dinner. They used Facebook to cover and document their exploits. The social networking service was essentially a distortion of their true identity. Social Distortion?
