I hope i'm not an ass and this isnt an old guess but...
how has no one guessed the who yet????
Starr refers to Zak Starkey (Ringo Starr's son) djjd said that amish1 was on to something but not what he though when he posted "that generation could be referred to as Cold War Kids???" maybe he hit on "generation" as in "My Generation" there's also a couple theories im working on when djjd said that mattseven was on a "kinda interesting train of thought-- but maybe in the wrong direction"
the only thing that i can't figure out would be what "ed" is short for but isn't the first thing we'd think of.

The '60s television show, "Mr. Ed" was partly based on a short story titled, "Ed Takes the Pledge." A pledge can include a marriage vow, which if we're talking about Beyoncé, would mean her pledge and marriage to Jay-Z; making her Beyoncé-Z. Beyoncé kept silent about the marriage for a while, not revealing it to the public. Kinda like Mr.Ed who wouldn't talk to anybody but Wilbur....

I'm going back to George Clinton. He and Edwin Starr both started out with Ric Tic Records. Edwin became a star first with 25 Miles. George was doing some songwriting for them (fits in with the "writer or wronger" hint) and then formed the Parliaments, neither of which got him famous. So he had two things going before the star was hatched, and djjd had said someone was on the right track thinking it was a band that spawned two stars - why not a record label that did? And why can't I explain this so it makes as much sense in writing as it does in my head?
Z is the name of a My Morning Jacket album. They've been rumored to play for awhile. My morning jacket was called a couple different things before Jim James and co. became stars.
riburroo, can you can link Beyonce to Edwin Starr somehow?
Most of these clues have multiple possible answers. If this is a new brand of clue, what sets Edwin Starr apart from the other clue answers? Of course Beyoncé doesn't seem to fit the usual 'Roo headline act. It would kinda be a new type of thing. Then there's the woman's voice giving the clue?

z - from wiki, Another English dialectal form is izzard /ˈɪzərd/, which dates from the mid-18th century and probably derives from Occitan izèda (literally translating as "i zed") or the French et zède "and z".
eddie izzard before he became a star, he was going to school for a accountancy, then became a street performer after getting kicked out of school. did we figure anything out about who gave the clue or djjd? were they ever an accountant or street performer of somekind?

Let's say Edwin Hatcher "Hatched" his "starrdom" with his single war. I don't know if this single was 2 before that (because I can't find a good source but it fits with a hint), but he also had a single in 74 called "Who's Right or Wrong"
Writer or Wronger = Who's Right or Wrong
So is The Who right or wrong?
Of course that could have just been help to point to Edwin also
Does that mean IF he is someone how part of the clue solving- you will buy ME a beer?
I like Czech beer and can't wait to drink one that you have bought me.
Give us a hint on HOW he relates, and you can enjoy two Czech beers that I have bought you.
Scratch that, I think that actually might be a hint. I think the BRAND new type of clue means we need a BRAND name to help us along. Maybe something that is Czechoslovakian (like FERDINAND beer) or sounds like Czech, like Checker.

There's Czech glass. Which brings to mind Philip Glass. But I really think this is the wrong direction.

The Czech thing probably means he just likes Czech beer. But I think needing a brand name might be worth looking into. This doesn't seem in any way like an actual new type of clue - it's just as confusing as all the others!

So this is on the right track... but it's probably not the who, right?
