This is my first stab at this, so don't laugh . . . but here goes:
1. djjd said follow "El Bike" – Queen has a famous song Bicycle Race and were also the first major rock band to play in Latin American stadiums 2. djjd also said “9 is part of all that you can leave behind” – as previously stated, the UK bonus track that was “left behind” on the US release of U2s All That You Can’t Leave Behind was “The Ground Beneath Her Feet” (lyrics by Salman Rushdie) based on the book of the same name by Rushdie whose main character, Ornus Carna, was loosely based on Freddie Mercury (per Rushdie) 3. Assuming that we do indeed have to go through Zappa (Antelope Valley High) using the tennis shoes clue – Zappa’s song “Magic Fingers” ends with the phrase “. . . and beat you with a pair of tennis shoes I got from Jeff Beck” and also mentions a “QUEEN sized, bulk purchased, kapok infested, do-not-remove-tag-under-penalty-of-law type bed” . . . moreover, Jeff Beck played with Paul Rogers (who now tours with Queen) on a Muddy Waters tribute album 4. Furthermoreover Freddie Mercury frequently wore tennis shoes as part of his stage costume 5. “duh druhk-may-tuhr” is Dutch for “pressure guage” – Under Pressure (Queen with David Bowie) – ok so that one’s a stretch 6. Brian May and Paul Rogers have both played with other artists/bands (which may explain why djjd is not sure if they’ve played Bonnaroo before ??) 7. On 30 October 2009, Brian May wrote a fanclub letter on his website stating that Queen had no intentions to tour in 2010 but that there is a possibility of a performance. (a single performance is most likely to be a festival performance imho)
Final Answer (unless it’s wrong): Queen + Paul Rogers

logic is good roofann but queen + paul rogers is no more. they have gone seperate ways after the cd they did together flopped. paul rogers has gone back for a bad company tour and is rumored to have been asked to fill in for aerosmith so its not queen + paul rogers

I'm gonna take it in a different direction - Djjd gave us defeated tennis shoes and a bike. Well a bike can beat tennis shoes... I don't remember how U2 got connected, but they have a couplet in one of their songs, "A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle." So I'm picturing a fish on a bicycle... A fish has fins, no feet (defeeted). So, I immediately think Finn brothers from Split Enz and Crowded House. Neal Finn wrote a song w/Split Enz titled, "Take A Walk," a line from which says, "Never worry what we leave behind." Neal Finn has a son, "part of all that you can leave behind," named Liam Finn. So, Liam Finn?
Yeah, I realize they split in May '09, but this announcement came after that and specifically mentions a "one-off performance" in the U.S.A.:
On 30 October 2009, Brian May wrote a fanclub letter on his website stating that Queen had no intentions to tour in 2010 but that there is a possibility of a performance. Brian is quoted as saying "The greatest debate, though, is always about when we will next play together as Queen. At the moment, in spite of the many rumours that are out there, we do not have plans to tour in 2010. The good news, though, is that Roger and I have a much closer mutual understanding these days – privately and professionally … and all ideas are carefully considered. Music is never far away from us. As I write, there is an important one-off performance on offer, in the USA, and it remains to be decided whether we will take up this particular challenge. " (from Wikipedia - if you trust that as a source)
I'm not a Queen superfan or anything, but it could be Bonnaroo . . . and I don't know who they would perform with if not Paul Rogers . . . maybe David Bowie???

I think the tweet "Number 9- is part of all that you can leave behind" just means there's been a correct guess for this clue. Flobots works for me - nice work tnjedi!
- Paul McCartney: The fact that it's clue #9 (Revolution 9). "Number 9 is part of all that you can't leave behind" - there is a song on that album called "Wild Honey". There is a Beatles song called "Wild Honey Pie". I don't think Macca is the answer to this one, though, as JD mentioned the Beatles in one of the first parts for this clue
- Grace Jones - There is also a song on All That You Can't Leave Behind called "Grace" and she is playing Coachella, so it could be a possibility

whoever thought pavement...i am not sure what this does for an appearance from them.
from billboard.com
Pitchfork Music Festival, the three-day music event in Chicago organized and curated by the indie-centric website of the same name, has announced Pavement, Modest Mouse and LCD Soundsystem as headliners of the 2010 edition. Tickets for the fifth annual event, which takes place in Chicago's Union Park on July 16-18.
Somebody quoted this line in an earlier post: ' ...and beat you with a pair of tennis shoes ...I got from Jeff Beck.'
Maybe they didn't even realize they nailed it. Theordore Bikel, fyi, was in 200 motels, which is one weird freaking movie- and has that line about Jeff Beck.

Son of a . . . . That was me! I almost considered guessing Jeff Beck based on that, but I had already worked so hard to get to my Queen guess.
