Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
if you're looking for jam you should check out wakarusa. i have to skip the roo this year and it's kind of a bummer minus the headliners the lineup looks really nice. lots of stuff that's relatively unknown to me and that's half the fun of bonnaroo, discovering new artists that you will one day LOVE.

I recently Netflix'd the '04 Bonnaroo DVD.It was interesting to watch the press clips where the jam bands(The Dead, moe.,SCI)so passionatly described their feelings for the young festival.Warren Haynes loved the idea of a gathering of people seeking out music that wasn't force fed to them through media and radio.Dave Matthews had hopes that more festivals would spring up like Bonnaroo that are unattached to corporate interest and the backing of major labels. For Bonnaroo, the times seem to have indeed changed.

I don't see any Dead,Warren,SCI or any jam. They're all at Mountain Jam,Wanee and All Good.I remember hearing the rumors that there would be no more Dead at Roo after the Kanye fiasco.
I agree with all of this juggs, except for some reason calling Jamey Johnson "old school" while people like John Prine and Jeff Beck are on the lineup.

Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver

Just this year.
Warren was there last year. The Dead will be back at some point (those are just rumors).
Last year had Phish play 2 sets and Moe. playing a 4+ hour late night extravaganza.
Umphrey's is a possible add this year (as seen in the thread).
Mountain Jam and Wanee are both hosted/presented by jam bands (Gov't Mule/Warren and Allman Brothers respectively) so of course there will be more jam bands there.
All Good is a jam festival too but even that has seen changes over the years since it's inception. Now they feature reggae, folk, funk, bluegrass and more.
Bonnaroo is a music festival that offers a variety of genres. It started off with jam roots but has expanded beyond that.
I was thinking the same.....Bring on more Jam bands....and totally feeling like they are missing a Headliner.......Who's going to Jam for the closing band on Sunday?!!??
this is the best thread on here. I dont think anyone here wanting more jam is against diversity....but cmon the jam is non existent. So if the jam was their roots and they have "grown" than I've grown out of bonnaroo....see ya at WAKARUSA!!!!

This is what I have been saying for awhile now. There are literally more piano based female singer/songwriters, Latin Acts, Heavy Metal, and hip hop acts than jam acts this year. I am all about diversity, but I still have favorite genre's

You won't see me at Wakarusa. The fact that Bonnaroo has grown out of their jam roots is the only reason I go to Bonnaroo.
I didn't want to start another thread for my favorite genre, Blues. There really isn't any of that on the lineup. No traditional blues, no blues rock, no blues-based jam bands. Zilch, zero, nada.

I wish there was a little more jam this year. Umphreys would do a lot for me. But overall I am glad the festival has moved away from its jam roots to become a all-around music festival.
i'd consider the black keys as blues rock. most of their songs anyway.
You got me there. I've been listening to them some lately. I will see them at Wanee as well. I listened to some Dead Weather as well, hoping to hear some blues, I guess not.

Yeah,I remember in the Capps interview with CoS earlier this year he said they could use a little more blues on the lineup.

I wouldn't say that's all they do.Their version of the blues is different from a traditonal artist such as Buddy Guy,BB King,Charlie Musselwhite,Taj Mahal,Keb Mo,Robert Cray,Gary Clark Jr.,etc.

i saw an article about the dead weather that said their new album is going to have more of a bluesy rock feel to it. but the additions are going to have some jam, and hopefully some more blues for you guys.

I would not consider Jeff Beck a blues guitarist, though he can be that on occasion. The Black Keys(one of my favorite bands)last two albums didn't sound very bluesy to me,but they are definetly blues influenced.I thought Blues Traveler were blues in name only.I'm not familiar enough with Clutch to cast an opinion.I guess being around Austin and Mississippi has spoiled me when it comes to good blues.I wouldn't expect Bonnaroo to have a lot of those type artist on the lineup, but one or two would be nice.
If Clutch does a set as the Bakerton group, then that's blues-rock. Clutch, though, is not. Jeff Beck will play some Bluesy stuff, but he has kind of moved on from Blues Rock. The Carolina Chocolate Drops do some proto-blues. It's true that we could use some Blues additions.

blues traveler certainly has some blues rock tendencies, and jeff beck definitely does. I'm not talking about blues in the literal sense. I'm just talking about blues rock
