Sorry if I am coming off harsh. I'm frustrated with this board and I took it out on you. I'm not superior. I'm a guy that is sick of people whining about how thier favorite band isn't playing. I saw later your other post. Your right. I'm wrong. Sorry.
Just don't talk about fixies, and we're cool.
Hate to sound like one of those whiners but no one band makes or breaks a lineup for me, However a lineup with no imagination does............................There are more than just single minded people angry about this lineup.
But at what point do people stop complaining about what we didn't get vs. what we have?
I just cannot understand people that log on here and feel the need to post smart ass or negative comments in every thread to voice their disappointment. Roo will go on just fine without you. There will still be thousands of people on the farm enjoying music. If you don't like it fine, say your peace and go on. But please don't litter up every thread with your hate based humor and negative comments. There are even threads on this board about other festivals. Geez, enough is enough.
I dig a jam band as much as the next guy. But, I can find 17 or so bands I would enjoy seeing on this lineup already and they are not done.
Sure it is. But making comments in every thread to voice your opinion is not the way to do it. And yes, for the most part this is a positive board, more than alot of other boards. I guess all bets are off when a line up comes out and all the whiners who think AC and Superfly OWE them something go crazy.
Umphrey's or STS9 or MMJ or some others will make me more than happy...
one thing i find advantageous about a lineup with some unknowns is listening to them before hand... sure i want to see some bands i like added, who doesn't, it's not that bad of a lineup.

I understand the frustration with complaining but for us that have been posting here for years, it gets a little frustrating to see a lineup like this when we have been devoted Roo fans for so long.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver

Umphrey's set at Allgood was incredible.
they DO owe us something - a good line-up. then we owe them hundreds of dollars. that's the whole point. i love bonnaroo. they have never let me down. i took this one hard. i AM taking this one hard. it's weird. it feels personal haha. i never thought their would be something that would make me NOT want to be on the farm come june.

Doesn't this happen every year? I missed '09 and didn't spend much time on Inforoo as a result. But in '08 I remember the outcry that "Metallica was going to ruin Bonnaroo." And the same thing in '07 with Tool. Maybe it's human nature. People who go to Roo and have a wonderful time want to repeat the experience. But things change. Do I wish there were more jambands? Absolutely. Are there still lots of bands I'm excited to see? Without a doubt. I feel bad for people who are let down by the lineup. But there's a lot of great artists playing and more to come. And I know that once I get onto the farm, I'm going to feel the joy.
i am surprised at the lack of jam bands. they will have to add more. otherwise, they'll def. gotten away from what they used to be. think they will have a super jam this year?
I know that Roo doesn't owe us anything. We can just not go. But some are taking this lineup really personal. Why? Because people have become attached to this festival and it's more than just a product/consumer relationship. The magic of this festival defines a part of ourselves just as much as we define this festival. So yeah, I know that AC doesn't owe me anything, they can put out any lineup they want. But I still take it a little personal. It's like if your brother told you to fuck off or something. It stings a little bit more than if it was just some troll on the interwebz.

Its not personal though. It's business. Words I will never forget.
I'd wait it out for a bit to seeif anything gets added that I wanted to see.

Two years ago, I was told there was too many commercial acts. last year I was told there was too much "metal and Hip hop" This year I am told their is no Jam bands. Next year will be a lack of (feel free to insert any type of genre you desire at this point).
Get where I am heading with this????
I do think they will add one maybe two more jam bands, I also expect a return of the Superjam (Claypool and White would be AMAZING!!!) but if one act gets u to shell out 250+ dollars, then I hope they really JAM hard for you. I am going regardless....I am sure somebody will point out something else missing soon.

As more and more people realize that it isn't personal and it is just business, the less sense of community this festival will have. That sense of community is what does it for some people. It's what makes Bonnaroo better than Lolla and any other festival that is not a camping fest. Roo, and the camping in particular, allows people make personal connects with other lovers of music. At Roo you're not just another concert goer, you're neighbors, who share food, drink, and other things..you become a community. Because of that sharing a bond is created...not just with the neighbors, but with the festival itself.
Don't get me wrong. I do understand that it is just business. I just think that AC/Superfly is giving up something, that personal attachment, that makes Bonnaroo such a magical place.
This year the skinny jeaned, wayfarer hipster will outnumber the wooks.
They're much easier to beat up, no?
I'm sorry, but no self respecting HIPster would go to a fest so unHIP. Fucking Weezer and Dave Matthews? If anything, Its the year of the Frat douchers. Esp Jay-z's crowd....or at least thats what his crowds look like in ATlanta.

I don't see what's wrong with complaining about the lineup. It's obviously the worst one ever, and if you think different you either have different taste than 95% of the people that go to Roo or you're fooling yourself. I haven't been every year... I missed a couple because of personal reasons, but I know people who have who already said they were thinking about not going this year. When I heard my friend Davy say that I knew my complaints were valid. He runs a successful music blog and gets a press pass and VIP and he's not going.
I'm just saying. The hate will die down as people give up, I'm sure I'll stop coming to the site soon (until next year maybe).

My simple thought is that this is the weakest lineup in a long time. The headliners are bands that should be opening for headliners... Dave and Jay-Z, I think are the only two bands that deserve a headline status. Kings of Leon are completely not headlining material. Stevie Wonder deserves a headline as well...

How are the headliners bands that should be opening for headliners, but 3 of the 4 headliners deserve headliner status? ???
