The U.S. has no shot against England this time around, maybe a draw if they are lucky. I'm hoping to catch that game too though so I hope the news of WC coverage at Roo holds true. I'm predicting my boys beat Landon Donavon and the rest 2-0

If they were fully healthy, the U.S. would actually have a decent shot, I think. England tends to choke, they play as a bunch of good individuals instead of a good team, they don't have a big time forward to pair with Rooney, their goalkeeping is meh, and John Terry might be too busy knocking up his teammates' girlfriends to play any actual defense.

^^ the world cup is a lot different than the stanley cup.... the world cup is an event that happens every four years, and it unites people for a common cause, cheering on their country. showing the stanley cup finals could potentially cause people to separate between the two cities, which isn't what bonnaroo it about
Bonnaroo is about music so the world cup isn't really what Bonnaroo is about either.

No reason for the two to be mutually exclusive. If anything, I think festivals are even more fun when there's a big sporting event going on. People are jerseyed up all over the place, you get some good-natured trash talking going on...it's good stuff.
Festival 8 last year was the first time I'd gone to a fest during football season. A significant percentage of the festivalgoers were rocking their jerseys that Sunday. Nonstop high fives. It made for an even better atmosphere.

I'm very happy to know that they'll show the World Cup game and the NBA finals. This'll be my first Roo, and the thought of missing either US/England or the potential Cavs game in the NBA Finals makes me very sad.
Me: Did you say Retarded Steve was playing tonight? Boo: No, I have a speech impediment. I said that Retarded Steve is playing. www.411mania.com/siteimages/jcs logo_25254.jpg[/img] Check out Jam Central Station on Facebook on.fb.me/bT2xQx and @jamcentral411 on Twitter
this is gonna be hectic....The thought of my "preferred" artist/band playing at the same time as the WorldCup aaaaaand/or Stanley Cup(if my team is in the finals) is bananaz!! on toooop of treating the cinema tent as a "wait in line like its a concert" is going to kill me going from one end to the others....
Can't wait for the schedule to come out so I can schedule the ish outta this...
ps. even tho the U.S team isnt all that great, they actually did pretty well against Brasil last yr...3-2 lost but STILL!! some good underdogs riyerrr

this is what my english friend has to say: "our defence is quacked.
terry - is ok but his head must be all over the place with all his shagging stories coming out.
ferdinand - has back injury, hasn't played 2 games in a row for ages and can't do any weights training etc. was a liability in qualifying game as a result
cole - ankle broken, out until May. May not be match fit for world cup.
bridge - as a result of cole shagging around,he's decided to retire from international football.
cahill - uncapped squad member in defence - has blood clot in leg, likely to be out for rest of season
so looks like could be milner at left back, upson and terry in the middle and wes brown on the right. pretty much a second / third string defence, not one that wins world cups."
the us needs gooch and dempsey to get back from injury, and if davies can come back from his horrible injuries we'll be in OK shape. Not great because we are the US, but I'll take OK.

the english defense is going to have some issues and they need a second striker to play alongside Rooney that can finish. I honestly think that if the US can get the injury factor to pan out and be at near full strength we will give them one helluva game!! I have been waiting on this matchup for a long time and it should not dissapoint.

yeah, watched the whole first half and maybe about half of the second half. the us was playing a little sloppy, but it all seemed kind of slowplayed. the pk really didn't help them at all.

they seemed to be doing the usual scared thing, hard first touches and backing off. hoping holden ain't too banged up, said he was going for xrays, cautionary. de jong didn't think anything of it, but he cracked him good, just think he thought holden was going right, but he's a leftie. the end of the second half got more exciting, but it was after lots of subs. it was good seeing beasley running around with confidence again. looking forward to this game at roo. would really prefer all new screens on the what and the game on it, but yeah, to the cinema tent!

oh yeah, another problem with de jong, he dove like a friggin italian on a play just outside his own box with altidore on his back, if he didn't go down josey is in 1 on 1. well played you diving hack. ahhhh de jong, you're my new blanco.
if it was a real game between the 2, the dutch outclassed, but it wasn't and I can whine
im all for roo setting up a larger public screening for the us/england match. the interest in this game will supremely trump the interest we had in 06 against italy. i hate that i will probably miss this match, but i cant give up 4 hours of roo time in a line and another 2.5 hours in a tent... although i'll gladly give up the 2.5 to see the match with hundreds of other crazy fans!

but de jong is still on the list.
Haha the Dutch are my 2nd most-liked nat'l team after France. But they don't hesitate to go to the ground. That's probably why that match in 2006 bet. the Dutch and Portugal got so heated. Those two, along with Italy, are all about the diving.

I love watching the World Cup, but Bonnaroo trumps it. I am not going to take time off from music and mischief to watch the games, but I might try to DVR them and hope I can get home without knowing the results.
It is a shame that soccer is not bigger here. At Roskilde they show the matches on the screens at each stage between sets.
