I just have a quick question.
Do people bring their guitars to this event?
-This is my first festival but i've been into the whole scene for a pretty long time. I've seen phish and all that but I don't really know the feel of a festival. I'm soo excited though. I'm rollin' down from ohio with 3 friends in my jeep so it's for sure to be a groovy time

I've seen a few people jammin' out on their guitars, yeah. Also I saw at least one drum circle last year, which was pretty sweet. It's not terribly common though. I would say you're unlikely to spend a long time at your campsite, so it might not be worth the risk/trouble to bring your guitar. Trust me, there will be plenty of music already. I hope you have an awesome first time!
Whether the perpetuation of your self-image requires your guitar, you're hoping to romance a half-conscious 19yo with your mad skillz, or you just require lots of attention -- bringing your guitar is sure to be a smash hit. That represents the majority of my experience with people bringing instruments out in public unsolicited.
But if you're mentally healthy, I've seen an impromptu jams once or twice in the campgrounds that were fun.

well that was pretty sassy. but i'm new to roo and I didn't know if it was a common occurance. I don't plan to break it out around other people but I wouldn't mind having it in the tent for late at night. I just didn't know if it was a known thing around bonnaroo that people do or don't bring them

sure a lot of people bring them, but a lot don't because it's their beloved item. A)being in a car in TN heat has potential side effects for something like a wooden guitar B)possibility of theft or damage, etc. If you keep an eye out and take care of it, there's no problem, but a lot of people don't want to be bothered with caring/being worried about it, yanno? Other than that, guitarage will be a great thing to bring......if you're good

Camp Inforoo at Allgood 2008 was the jammin'est campsite on the Mountain... it was really awesome to wake up each morning and find kickass live music 5 steps from my tent.
Just remember one thing, if you can't stand to lose it, you should not bring it to the Farm... otherwise, Rock On!!!

I was in the camps just inside the I-24 main gate last year. Every night they had a drum and bass dance party going until dawn. Don't worry about mattseven, he's just trolling around. I echo the sentiments of others on the issue. Bring the guitar if you want to play, but theft or damage is a possibility. And late at night there's REALLY cool sh!t going down in Centeroo.

You slept in a tent? I pretty much just crashed in a chair and woke up with Bunny handing me a mimosa every morning. Wellbalanced music, and areyoukind were both excellent though.

I like to play with myself in my tent at night too. Breaking it out around other people is awkward and a little embarassing.

Bring a guitar. I have a beater guitar just for things like this. Leave the good one at home.
^this. If you don't have a beater guitar, get one. Find a sturdy old acoustic somewhere and be prepared to sacrifice it to the camping gods. I don't really play anymore, but when I did, this is what I did for camping situations.

One of the guys in my group has a "camp" guitar that he takes on camping trips and to Bonnaroo. And then the last time we went, another guy who plays drums brought a little pair of bongos. It was great listening to homemade music in the morning.
