Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
The lineup is great but the set lengths kill it for me. MMJ headlining will get 90 min. All the other bands I would like to see will likely get 45 min with the possible exception of the DBTs that might get 60. My favorite thing about Roo is the much longer set lengths then most fests.
Pretty nice line-up. Even if its just a retread of alot of bands that have played at Roo before. However I would love to see My Morning Jacket and The Mountain Goats.
EDIT
Apparently one of the sites had it wrong. Its Quasi, some obscure alternative rock band from Portland, not Quasimoto.
HOWEVER, my suggestion still stands. Madlib needs to be on the farm.
6/18: Phish in Hartford 6/25: Phish in Camden 7/2-7/4: Nateva 7/17: God Street Wine at Irving Plaza 7/23-7/25: String Cheese at Red Rocks!! 8/17-8/18: Phish at Jones Beach 9/3: Rush at PNC
This Bonnaroo lineup is in dire need of some Rush.

Bonnaroo better add some of these bands playing Sasquatch... sort of pathetic how much I'd rather go all the way out to Seattle and see this than go to Roo. (any idea on pricing? )
Caribou, Massive Attack, Simian Mobile Disco, No Age, Quasimodo(!), Midlake, Mountain Goats, YACHT, Dirty Projectors (I know we saw them last year, but that was one of my all time shows, and would kill to see them again)
Just that right there would make Bonnaroo 100x better in my eyes.
We need some DAMN good additions here AC/Superfly.

Why is it pathetic? You like a lineup for another festival better. I don't see why it's pathetic.

how much money bonnaroo had to allocate between different bands vs. how much money Sasquatch had to allocate between different bands.
Oh...I actually thought that was Garfunkel & Oates as in the lesser parts of the duos "Simon & Garfunkel" and "Hall & Oates," which would have been so much more awesome.
haha! that's what i thought too.
As did I. I'm pretty disappointed that it's not actually Garfunkel & Oates. Clever name though, I'll give them that.

I doubt he has any idea how much money they have in their budgets...I assume they said that because bonnaroo has about 3 times the attendance of sasquatch (not sure the truth of this but from a few articles I've read they say things like 22000 in attendance) so their assumption is pretty logical.

Yea Bonnaroo has 3 times the attendance. They also have a lot more workers and bills to pay. Plus Bonnaroo books +150 acts where Sasquatch 2009 only had around 85 acts.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
Alright so I doubt we are getting MMJ but I have a good feeling we might see Monsters of Folk which means some solo Jim James. That being said I really do like this lineup but the distance is too far for me. What stands out to me of course MMJ but the smaller acts like City and Colour and The Mountain Goats.. Both are incredible acoustic acts who should be playing bonnaroo this year.. If you havent heard of either one of these bands check them out..

when you look at those numbers, then realize there are more acts you'd rather see at Sasquatch than at Roo...
this is where the word pathetic comes up.
as for the amount of money they have to spend on bands, there are sites and ways to find out the booking prices of bands.
try just comparing the prices of the headliners...

The only thing I would say to this is try to get to know a lot of the lower card Bonnaroo acts that you may not know. People always complain and then after Roo there are tons of posts for Thursday bands that "stole the show" and whatnot.
And again......why is it pathetic that you like more bands on one lineup than the other? To me that isn't pathetic.....it just shows your musical preference. Am I pathetic since I like more Roo bands than Sasquatch?

What sites are these? I honestly would like to compare the headliners. I feel like Stevie and Jay-Z would be getting lots more money than My Morning Jacket or Ween.

firstly, I am saying it is pathetic that with all the resources Bonnaroo has from being one of the largest festivals in the world, that a lineup with such lacking appeal from top to bottom could be presented in its 9th year of existence, when you compare it to the appeal of lineups such as Sasquatch, which have a considerably smaller fan base and sponsor base, and general resources.
secondly, I'm saying that when you compare the headliners, obviously Stevie and Jay-Z and DMB and KoL demand more money than any of the headliners at Sasquatch. This was my point.
But I'm pretty sure I'd rather see any headliner at Sasquatch over any headliner at Bonnaroo this year...
it seems Bonnaroo forgot it is not just about having the resources and one of the best festival experiences in the world, but it is having the foresight and knowledge of the musical world to pick the most exciting musical acts that people want to see.
ALL of this said, I am going to Bonnaroo, my third in a row, and I am still quite excited about it, and some of the artists on the lineup...
I just would have loved to have seen more from Bonnaroo, especially in light of the other competing festivals.

The only advantage I see Sasquatch having over Bonnaroo is that it doesn't have a whiny mob of pussies with an undeserved sense of entitlement proliferating in its community. You guys seriously need to lay off the corn if you think the Sasquatch lineup is even marginally better than the initial Bonnaroo lineup. Anyone who doesn't like it doesn't have to go. Better yet, stop posting in this forum while you're at it.
I would put Stevie and Jay-Z up against any other festivals top two, but I would be ashamed to put our top 7 or so against other festivals top 7.
Good point. I was looking at Sasquatch lineup and saw MGMT and Vampire Weekend as 5th and 6th bands. At first I thought that was odd that they were so high up but then I realized Tenacious D and Weezer were high up on ours and I'd rather swap those two.

Yeah I think most people aren't complaining about Stevie and Jay-Z. Most people's problem is 2, 5-20.

I was first turned onto MMJ after a saw them on Fuse one year jamming with Kirk Hammett. They were rocking One Big Holiday and since then I have been hooked. It's a shame that it looks as if they won't be at Bonnaroo this year, but I can always see them when they come to Nashville 4/21!
