I was worried he was going to be on the Roo lineup, since we're probably not going this year. Now I'm holding out hope he will be at Pilgrimage Fest in September.
really helped me understand the mind set Ryan was in during this time. He caught a lot of flack for lecturing the crowd, walking out of shows, etc. the above isn't an excuse, but an explanation. good stuff.

This podcast is one of my favorite ever. Him talking about the hippies playing country music and "they didn't even know what they were doing!" is a classic.
Does being such a big fan that I want to buy each variant (puzzle bundle, red vinyl, bong cover) make me a Ryan Adams hoarder? I may have to sell a kidney if he releases anything after that singles set....
Let me preface this by saying I love every Ryan Adams album. I think the new album is really good. I'm confused about the praise it's getting. I know that RA has said it's special to him. Everyone seems to be praising it as one of his best. I think it's just another RA album. It's just as good as any of the others. It's not better and it's not worse. Just wondering if anyone else feels that way about it?

It's a fine album. It wasn't even the best album released on Friday and not a top 5 album for RA, in my opinion.

The new album is a grower... I liked it a lot at first, but after repeated listening to it, I now am in complete love with it. I would even crack it into his Top 5 potentially. It is one that will definitely grow on you over time.
Finally got around to really listening to the new album today and yesterday. I don't think it's incredible but it's really good. Not top 5, but maybe my favorite since Cold Roses/Jacksonville

I gave it a first listen yesterday too and really liked it. Need to listen some more before I start ranking.
Saw DRA play in a small venue last night...only played for an hour but the new material sounded awesome live. Watching a musical hero tear shit up from 8 feet away is an experience that will never get old.
Think his Meniere's was acting up pretty bad - he wasn't his normal talkative self. People kept taking photos with flash and he kept pulling the "Sith Lord your lightsaber camera flash is killing me, please stop" line. He was very respectful about it, which was great considering he wasn't feeling 100%. I'm surprised the venues he plays don't enforce the "no flash photography when Ryan is onstage" rule.
Ryan Adams might be one of the few musicians who could talk me into this set... it's kind of fun. Each song from Prisoner has an individual vinyl color, art design cover, and b-side track. It comes with a lit stage and popups (not my thing), but I love the vinyl singles. I am normally not even a huge fan of vinyl singles.
