So I'm late to the party as usual. Listened to Taylor Swift's 1989 for the first time yesterday. Not because I didn't want to hear it before then, she just pulled it from streaming services before I got around to it. So I bought the CD and put it on the big stereo last night. Spoiler alert: this album is awesome.
I could pick at it. "Shake It Off" is a touch annoying, the little rap breakdown reminds me of MC Shan's verse on Snow's "Informer".
But after hearing 1989 it's so clear why RA wanted to cover it, the songs themselves are just so goddamn Ryan Adams, meaning chock full of sadness, but with clever lyrics and a great grasp of melody. 1989 might be my favorite RA record since Cold Roses/JCN.
Nice read from NPR regarding RA/TS/1989 and the predicament of the female artist:

I finally listened to it before hearing Ryan's version myself. Taylor's Clean was like a punch in the gut. Much more powerful than Ryan's rendition to my surprise.
I usually hate Christmas stuff starting up first of November, but now that I own three Ryan Adams Christmas sweaters, I will start spreading holiday cheer sooner than I usually do. I mean, I am Santa this year.

Yeah, I'm kicking myself big time for passing on it. But it was either MMJ tickets or this. I went with MMJ. I pray I find another one.
I hope he releases another limited supply this holiday season. I would never need another Christmas sweater. I can't believe I missed it when it was on sale on his website!

You are my favorite person of November 2015. Two!!! How do I decide? I feel like the red one has my name written all over it.
And your tattoo is perfect! Great idea. I'd like to get a quote tattoo of his as my first.
Thanks! I was torn. I wanted "Steady My Soul & Ease My Worry" too, but I already have Radiohead lyrics on my back, so I went with the cardinal rose.
Radiohead's a great idea. What's the quote? I have so many favorites between Ryan, Radiohead, Arcade Fire, and The National that it'll be tough to pick. Patty Griffin's Living with Ghosts is one of my all-time favorite albums and I had thought about her, too.
Did you do a top ten quotes and narrow it down... or had one stick with you stronger than the others?

For a minute there I lost myself
Got it to remind myself that things get better. To not rush to judgement and to not act quickly when it comes to emotions. Not sure what my favorite lyrics are, I have so many, but those fit me.
Funny story though. I wasn't going to get RH tattoo when I went for appointment. Was only going to get my tiger paw. Which I had been wanting for 20 years, since freshman year of college. I made the mistake of telling the artist that I had another in mind for another time, and he said if I did it that day I would get a discount. So I left with two tattoos. Not my finest moment.

I love that quote. Great idea. At least you saved money and time.. on the bright side..
Radiohead has helped me get through so much in my life... they should really have been charging me a psychiatrist fee there for awhile. Their music can reach you when the people surrounding you can't. Same for RA.
The Charleston SC Shining girls one? I want that one so bad. But I have had enough willpower to not order anything since the sweaters. I'm trying to be good. For now.

Same here. I am trying SO hard. I wish the designs were not that great so they wouldn't be so tempting. Maybe he will still have these after Christmas. Lol
Really hoping I get a chance to see DRA this year. Unfortunately I don't see Roo adding him because then they'd share two of Forecastle's headliners. Boston Calling didn't get him and he obviously won't be at Newport again so soon. My options now are Osheaga (would probably seal the deal on me going this year) and Boston Calling September or Landmark. *Fingers Crossed*
Could also potentially see him releasing a new album and touring in the Fall. That's only if God really loves me
