Hi everyone. Here are some updates. This is a reminder of the changes for this season:
1. For this season, managers will have 3-4 keepers 2. Next season we will have a complete redraft 3. Every 5 seasons we will do a redraft 4. Going forward from next year onwards, managers can keep 3-4 players 5. Some managers suggested a penalty for keeping the same player for multiple seasons. We can discuss this at a later date.
Does anyone have any leads on potential new managers to join the league? We have 3 open spots.
The draft will be held on Monday, March 18 @ 10:00 PM. Keepers are due by March 11.
I don't think for a second that 2 tor 62 was the best offer he could have got. I get that he gets to opt-out if he performs, but no guarantee.
So you think he turned down other offers that were better, in search of a better offer?
I mean, it's unprovable by either of us (I assume, I'll speak for myself), but baseball owners are not people I'd rely on as far as their collusory history goes.

Its obviously unknowable what he was officially offered and what he turned down, but all available evidence suggests that they were aiming really high and the market never materialized.
Snell has a unique profile and maybe the qualifying offer plus desire for opt-outs hurt him, I just can't look at the early SP FA deals (Nola,E-Rod,Gray,Stroman) and think that they couldn't have done better.

There are a lot of variables impacting the market this year though, one of which (local TV revenues) is pretty unique and could be disasterous for some teams.
Why do I get the feeling that Shohei is going to "retire" soon so he can chase his dream of playing g-league basketball and then return in a couple of years after what was definitely not a suspension.
Not a great week for the Dodgers with Yamamoto now getting teed off on by the Padres.
He's good enough that you think he'll figure it out, but between spring training and this first start, that Yamamoto contract is starting to look worse than a bad Ohtani debt.

Darvish has had a good career. Yamamoto makes twice as much and is signed for twice as long, though. Ohta also stuck around in the majors for ten years. Yamo's contract is longer than that.
