Sometimes driving to work I’ll listen to “retired” Marty Brennamen talking Reds baseball on way to work. He was talking about how high everyone is on the Dodgers and their so called killer lineup. Then he went through their batting order and compared it to 70s Reds lineup. Only CF was a clear winner for LA with Betts >>Cesar Geronimo. Maybe Seager over Concepcion. They had Rose at 3b and Morgan at 2b if you’re playing at home. Certainly you can counter argue LA’s rotation but until they figure out why Kershaw can’t pitch in October (or in 2021 for that matter) I’m not sold yet.
idk seems weird, they're not very good, suppose there's some addition by subtraction, but watching him chase HR ladder is probably the most exciting thing they've got going. trouts so good it's boring, what else is there to get excited about
If they were in a true rebuild I agree, but the issue is that they cannot say they are trying to contend while continuing to give regular ABs away to a negative WAR player.
Prob guarantees he is entering the HOF as a Cardinal. Now I wont be shocked if he goes back to St Louis on a post season expanded roster just for kicks.
He was always going into the HoF as a Cardinal, but I don't see how they could squeeze him onto their roster - especially since they are still rostering Matt Carpenter. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the end of the line for him.
The easiest way to beat the Dodgers is to just get them to extras right now. What a waste of 3 aces in 2 days. :/
It just has to be facing everyone they didnt after almost 2 years and theyve gotta adjust. Theres no way this continues.
Injuries have played a big part in their struggles recently but yeah, they're really underachieving. Getting annoying to watch.
I mean its fortunate that this isnt happening in August/Sept cause then its huge. Losing Dustin May sucks but having such a deep pen is hopefully gonna pay off. I hope its not like a few years ago when they were 8 deep on potential starters and lost 5 of them in the span of 2 months.

Honestly their depth gets so much praise but it's really only in the starting rotation. Once Gonsolin and Price get back they're more than capable as 5th starters, although neither is as good as May. But their bullpen has some serious issues and their offense continues to underachieve. Hopefully when Bellinger returns that'll help a bit.

Not that it makes any difference in evaluating his career, but I'm a little sad that his -0.1 WAR in 2020 + -0.5 WAR in 2021 means that he probably won't be the 32nd player ever to compile 100 career wins above replacement. Made it all the way to 101.3 career WAR (29th all time) before the 2017 season, currently at 99.4.
