I've got two over win totals that are coming down to the wire. The White Sox once looked like a lock to hit over 90.5 but they've been playing .500 ball for like two months, need 4 more there. The Buccos need to go 3-6 in their last nine to get to the over 59.5. Blowing leads the last two nights in Philly (including 6-0 Thursday night) really hurt my soul at this point.

glad to see smith redeem himself and clinch the east with a strong showing. still can't say i don't get nervous as f*ck seeing him come out.
Can’t believe they won the division again after the way they played in the first half. I even think they could beat Milwaukee the way they’re playing right now. But next year is World Series or bust.
Considering how bad the Red Sox were last year, and how they sucked in August... I'm surprised that they got to 90 wins and live to play an extra game.
If they beat Washington tomorrow, they host the wild card game. If not, at least they play Monday.

One win away for both to cash!
Check, and check!
I think the Pirates had 17 chances to sweep series this year, and they went 0-17 in those games. That seems actually pretty hard to do.
I get the reasons people hate the Dodgers but a neutral can't seriously be rooting for this (I know Sang isn't a neutral). They had the second most wins in baseball, it wouldn't be right for them to lose the coin flip game. It's definitely a problem with MLB's playoff system, which I'm sure they'll fix by adding like 5 playoff teams per league.
There's not an easy fix because baseball is not a sport where you can give a team a bye week and have it really be a benefit. Since they play nearly every day during the regular season teams can get thrown off by an entire week off. But imo there shouldn't be a wild card game if the 1st wild card team is better by a significant margin, say like 5 games or so. I mean for Christ sake the Dodgers have a 16 game advantage on the cardinals and now have to play them in a one game playoff... makes no sense.
But adding more playoff teams is definitely not the answer and I pray mlb won't do that shit.
I'll be at the game tonight and I'm already nervous as hell. The Dodgers record vs the Cards in the playoffs keeps me up at night. I definitely think we can win this game but I won't relax and be happy until we're up 5 in the 9th.

idc that the 90 win Cardinals are getting a chance not even the worst team in the playoffs. the ALE and NLW were blood bath divisions and maybe all of them deserved all the spots to some extent, but like the braves are trash compared to everyone else and have less wins than the Cardinals. and they could potentially dodge both 100 win NL teams.
feel like adding the extra wild card is beneficial to great teams in hard divisions if they're not going to reseed and have a team like the White Sox, the only playoff team with a losing record on the road, from being in the playoffs instead of the BoSox/Yankees
