The Ferris wheel is great but I have yet to do it after dark. Both times that I have been on it were on Sunday afternoon's and I have not had to wait in much of a line.

Do the Ferris Wheel at least once..my ride lasted a good 10-15 mins, never waited more than 15 mins in line. I've done it every year, but if money is tight, I'm OK skipping it this year since I have already experienced it. The disco is a blast if you like to dance. I would never miss spending an hour or two there every year. BUT, I'm old, love to dance, and don't get many opportunities. Whichever you chose, you won't be disappointed.

I'm actually surprised everybody's pushing the wheel over the disco. I've actually never done either, but I would have figured the disco would win out simply because one rotation on a ferris wheel doesn't last very long
Never done either myself and this is my seventh Roo but I was just thinking the other day that I should probably do the ferris wheel this year. I'm not much of a dancer (and am in fact legally banned from dancing in eight states), though anybody I know that has done it has had a blast so I cannot recommend against it.

i love silent disco there is not one year that i got get quacked up and dance my ass off at the silent disco..... I don't dance when not at bonnaroo but everyone is so cool and non judgemental at roo that i dont quackin care and always have a blast!
they are both awesome for different reasons. i liked seeing the campsite from the ferris wheel but ive ridden a ferris wheel before. the silent disco is an awesome experience.
we went in really late at night dead sober with a 13yo and had an absolute blast. beach balls bouncing and ppl dancing like mad. this is also where i first heard phoenix!
the most fun is when the dancing gets really frenzied, take off your headphones and stand really still. surreal.

I would definitely choose the Disco over the Wheel but the only thing I'll make sure to do this year is check what DJ they have playing at the time. Last year I went with some friends and they were playing 80's....Not a fan. lol But both are pretty spectacular choices!
Since I'm terrified of heights and I've been in the Silent Disco my vote is fer the SD. It was pretty fun last year and I can't wait fer it this year! Hopefully they'll still have the 80s tunes and hopefully they won't conflict with anything this year!

We did the ferris wheel last year on Thursday night and it was such a cool view! We got to stay on for several rotations. I didn't feel like it was a waste of money at all! I've never done the Silent Disco because the lines are alway so long but I'm really going to try to do it this year!
In the past I have skipped both because of lines, but this year being my third I want to do at least one. I am thinking the wheel wins, but maybe I will try to get both in.

Silent Disco is a blast. You don't have to stay there for a long time at all. I was there for 20 minutes probably. I've never done the Ferris Wheel, although you guys are making it sound great, but it is still $7.
2/5- Papadosio 3/3- MUSE 3/12- John Mayer 3/19- The Werks 3/31- Passion Pit 4/18- Ben Folds 4/20- Against Me! 6/10- Bonnaroo 6/30- Eric Clapton and Roger Daltrey
In 08 my wife and I who are not huge Metallica fans strolled off and rode the Wheel a few songs into their set. It lasted a few songs from what I remember and was an amazing way to see a little more of the set. My vote is for the Wheel.
Ferris Wheel but I'm not much of a dancer. Go up at night, good view of everything lit up, music wafting from all directions and if you're warm, there's usually a little breeze up there.

hot tip if you want to try out the silent disco: it's open until crazy late hours (4 am thursday, 5 am fri./sat. last year), so if you're a night owl at bonnaroo, you should be able to find a little time to experience it, and not miss any important acts you wants to see.
At the Silent Disco, do you bring your own headsets or can you rent them there? (1st time at Roo this year)
How did you find this from 5 years ago? jeez...
To answer your question they provide you with headphones. Don't bring your own.
Hmm, you've got to give smartteapantz credit for doing some digging at least, and not starting a new thread if there are already 75 appropriate ones, even if this one was dead for a half decade. Someone always gives new people crap for asking without searching, so this isn't so bad, just kinda funny if anything. And the silent disco is decidedly not for me, but I may finally ride the ferris wheel this year.
