So i volunteered at roo back in 2008 and brought a digital camera and got some great day pics but my night pictures sucked. too much noise and too much blur. So I was wondering if any past volunteers snuck a SLR camera into the centeroo, im postive they wont search me going in to the campgrounds but im afraid that its too bulky and someone will spot it if i do a quick opening of my bag at the gates of centeroo (wich as far as volunteers go thats as much as u will get searched).
I may have a press pass and not have to worry about this but if my press credentials fall through I need to find a way to sneak my camera into the festival, i need great pictures this time around!
Attach strap to camera, put strap around neck, walk into Centeroo. It's not that hard. They don't really care that much unless you're hauling in what is obviously a megacamera with flash and battery pack and umbrellas and light boxes and a tripod and a $30,000 zoom lens that weighs as much as an 8 year old. Stick with the nifty fifty and walk in.

I took my D60 in every day without hiding it. They didn't care a bit. My new D300 is a little more obvious but Im betting that I still get it in. Like Adam said, stick with a 50mm f1.4 for night shots.

If you can break off $120 or so for the 50mm f1.8 I highly, highly recommend it. I've got the f1.4 50mm for my Canon and it's practically the only lens I ever use, and it's great in low light conditions (and it's not much better than the 1.8, it just costs way more hah). You could rent one, but for as cheap as this lens is it would hardly be worth renting it.
