TN is hurting right now, but the sun is out and hopefully the waters will recede quickly.
The only thing about Roo that would worry me is the condition of I 24. There are parts of it that are still flooded. I just hope there is no major damage that would cause it to be closed in sections.

Hmm. I wonder if they're gonna require people to avoid 24. I was contemplating 40 instead of goin down to Chattanooga, and I might have more reason to take that route now. I've heard that Roo really helps bring in money for them, so they'll do whatever they can to repair anything in time. We shall see... Hopefully they can at least find a feasible backroad detour that won't frustrate the locals, if they have issues on 24. *shrugs*
*crosses fingers that everything works out ok* Stay safe, TN!
my thoughts go out to all of you in the Nashville area and other areas hurting. a friend of mine sent me a photo of the interior of the Opryland hotel with what looked to be water approaching the 2nd floor INSIDE the hotel. amazing.
anyway, best wishes. Wolfman, sorry about your car. that really sucks.
Could be worse! We could all be making final preparations to go to hangout to watch the oil flow up onto the beach. That was a close call, my friends. I was sooo close to buying that ticket. I wonder if they're going to have it at all.
That + Flaming Lips cancellation = definitely unfortunate circumstances for Hangout 2010
yep im ok here but some of my buddies in hickman county and lewis county are hurting
I've been trying to find out about Lewis County. I have a cabin on the Buffalo River near Hohenwald and am wondering how bad the damage is going to be.
I just had my driveway wash out here in M'boro but they were rescuing someone down the street earlier today so water's still rising.
troo my friend there said that the water is going down. they are having some plumbing issues where he is but he is on "the farm" commune and they have their own water program. if i find out more from him ill let you know

I-24 is fine. I had a friend who drove from Nashville to Atlanta (via 24) this morning and had no issues at all. There are definitely big problems in Nashville, but mostly in areas near the Cumberland River. Bonnaroo will not be affected by this, but it's certainly a terrible disaster. A lot of people have lost everything, and a lot of us have been lucky (such as myself). The river is supposed to crest tonight and begin receding tomorrow, and we're lucky enough to have warm sunny skies for the next several days in hopes that this mess will recede.
It's weird because this story would be getting much more attention if there wasn't an even worse and more widespread disaster occurring in the gulf right now. Strange times...

My thoughts and prayers go out to those of you whom had to endure the horrible rains in Tenn. I hope all is o.k. and I look forward to seeing you guys at the Roo!

It's been a mess here, guys. I was stuck near some of the worst, housesitting for a friend. I was able to get out yetserday midday and make it to my house. I know the dreamingtree lives near there too, and they are still stuck in their house but they thankfully have power now.
Below is a picture of a bridge near the house I was staying out.
Wow amazing videos and pic!! Hope the best for the whole area. Totally crazy weather. We have got some rains here on the other side of the mountains, nothing like that crazy sheet.

I just lent my car to one of my mom's Eastern Star buddies who lost everything. As she was driving away, still trying to figure out the difference between the wipers and headlights, I got a feeling that I won't be seeing it again. Hopefully it'll be useful long enough for her to get back on her feet.

yeah im really worried because me and my friends always spend a couple days in nashville before roo and do some things... thinking i may need to reschedule where my hotel is.

If you guys have stuff planned for Nashville you should keep the plans. If you don't have plans you should make them for before or after the fest. Unless they have horrible luck between now and then the water will be gone but the businesses will be hurting. 80,000 people contributing to a local economy in a time of need can make a huge difference. I'm sure the folks in Manchester feel the same way.

Just don't book anything near Opryland. And, specifically Opryland Hotel will be out of commission for months it looks like. Downtown should be back up and running in a matter of days, so I wouldn't throw all your plans out the window just yet.

awesome... that what i was wondering is if the rest of downtown was going to be up and running soon. They have some great bbq and some GREAT bars... i saw some great music in some of the bars the nights before bonnaroo.
wow... I live in Cedar Rapids, IA and looking at those pictures is giving me dejavu from 2008.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all in the area. You'll be amazed at how your community will come together after this tragedy though. Rebuilding will happen faster then you think.
They keep saying
Don't stop, no one's ever enough
I'll never look back, never give up
And if it gets rough, it's time to get rough
But now I'm falling, falling, falling
I would suggest keeping your before/after Roo Nashville plans. The CMA Festival is the same weekend as Bonnaroo, and it will be held in downtown Nashville. At this point, the festival is still ON, so downtown should be up and running by that time. Plus, we could really use the economic boost.
Damn Jess! That sucks. Sorry to hear that. All of you in TN are in our thoughts. It's been a rough week. Flooding, oil spill, car bomb found in Times Square.....WTF is next?!
plane crashes, tornadoes, earthquakes...it's scary. Makes me think 2012 really is going to come true due to a horrible natural disaster
im starting to wonder why noone else is seriously starting to think about that!? i mean, yanno, the crazies first but, seriously, the earth/mother nature has been seriously active lately.

It was a very scary weekend. We had our own little island of a sub-division while everything around us was totally under water. We were so lucky to have no flood damage! Here are my photos - we were totally stranded for almost 3 days and without power for 2 days:

I'd say that's very accurate. I work for Marriott and saw some pics of the 1500 room Opryland Marriott today. It's was so ridiculously flooded. They're saying it'll be at least three months until they reopen.
Thanks for your support and concern, inforoosters! It is still a bad situation here in Nashville. The river levels are going down, but there's so much damage to homes and businesses it will take weeks to get it cleaned up. Life for so many people will never be the same.
What's so weird about this situation, to me, is that the people affected are people just like me. (Well, actually, there are probably more people a little better off than I am, able to afford homes in nice places near the river the winds through our city). A good friend of mine is out of work for a period of time because his work is underwater. He won't be getting a paycheck for who knows how long.
I've honestly cried a little every day because this situation is breaking my heart. I grew up and have lived around this city all of my 28 years. I've seen some of my favorite places submerged in water... including the movie theater where I worked in high school (a place that holds some of my favorite memories from my teenage years).
So many people didn't have flood insurance... it probably never occurred to them they might need it one day. Tennessee is a land-locked state! Even the people that didn't live near a river got damage.. who knew living next to a small creek would be such a liability!
If you haven't donated and are capable of doing so, please do! Even if it's just $2, every bit helps. Seriously. I'm completely guilty of seeing the devastation from other disasters and not doing a damn thing, monetary or otherwise. Seeing my hometown and people I know go through this disaster has changed my outlook completely.
If you want to help and aren't sure how, feel free to message me. I'll point you in the right direction

^^^ what she said, in particular the bellevue area got hit pretty bad. I drove through it yesterday and was in complete shock. Looks like a war zone. All you have to do to help someone is walk up and knock on their door and i guarantee they will need it. If you cant donate time then money or supplies would be good. We need it.
