its existence throughout the farm? i know I shouldnt be concerned but it'd be nice to fire up a few tables of hold em during some down time in the mornings. thanks
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
I just upgraded my cell phone today (Nokia 6126, I think)......unbelievable what these phones can do now. For only a little more than what I had been paying, I now can access the internet on my phone, play mp3's etc. I have unlimited access on the internet. It takes a little getting used to the small screen, but it does work......just checked Yahoo emails on there.
Hmmmm.........wonder what Inforoo looks like on there.......let's see......
Update: OMG.......it really works......a little difficult to navigate, but it'd work in a pinch! This is not good.......I can now access Inforoo anywhere, anytime!
au contraire my friend. I'm in summer school right now and I have a test scheduled online starting Friday morning. I wanna go to Roo thurs if I can and wake up early and go use the computers and take my tests, but I really don't think I can rely on Bonnaroo to provide me with access. It's just not worth the risk, so I'm gonna spend THurs night witha friend in Mufreesboro and then head out Friday morning after my test.......SUCKS
It is run by Cisco, so I gotta think it is g. Just a guess......
Thought it was D Link sponsored this year? Probably still G though.
Either way, I don't consider it incredibly reliable... especially not out at the campsites, and I can't see lugging a laptop into centeroo.
Edit- Hey roorunner, my husband just got a phone with a lot of similar features... He can also listen to radio bonnaroo through it - give it a try! Sounds better than I would have thought...

As much as I love the interweb and its tubes, Bonnaroo is my chance to get away from work email and any other responsibility out there. I think it would add to my stress to be able to access the "real world"

In VIP last year I could get a 50% strong signal on wireless.
We had a spot just outside of the VIP tent and I got a reliable wireless link, although the signal strength fluctuated between 75-100%.

Why would anyone be concerned about wi-fi?
If you want to play online poker, why go to bonnaroo?
I definitely won't be playing any online poker, but I'll definitely check my email a few times during the week. As much as I'd like to disconnect for the whole time, I have too many clients who wouldn't understand being lost in the fields of TN for an extended period of time. Plus, I'll probably preview some bands' songs to help me decide on some random shows...
Speaking of poker though, stop by my tent (Jolly Roger + Latvia flags) in VIP mornings or nights and maybe we can get a hold 'em game going!
Honestly, I wish I could just say "whatever" to the rest of the world during Bonnaroo, but I am teaching summer courses and I just don't have the heart to leave the students twisting in the wind for four days. I'm already cancelling one day of class, but they have presentations due Tuesday so I feel it only right and reasonable for me to check my email once a day in the morning to answer questions and help them out.
But I've heard voices not in the head Out in the air they called ahead Through ripped out speakers Through thick and thin They found a shelter Under my skin -Evgeny Aleksandrovitch Nikolaev

Yes! Based on the note on the main-page today, maybe it will work this year!
Leaving 'the world behind' is a noble idea with which I completely identify, but Bonnaroo is very much of 'the world' and wants to be 'online,' so let's wish 'em luck delivering on the promise.
And still, some of us are teachers, and some are, goddess forbid, writers who actually want to write about their Bonnaroo experience and share it with the world.
Anyone have any idea what heat and humidity can do to a laptop?
I have an old clunker laptop that I think I'll bring, mostly for uploading digital pictures... It sounds like plenty of people bring computers. Has anyone experienced damage to the 'puter from heat/humidity?
