So everyone I usually buy a ticket the first day they go on sale. But, this year everyone was being flakey and wouldn't commit so I didn't buy one.
Then I figured, "Screw it, I'm going anyway."
So I'll be solo this year and was wondering if anyone has bought a ticket while they were waiting in line to get in? Are tickets cheaper while in line or more expensive? Is it easy to get ripped off this way?
I see the guys every year buying and selling tickets while I'm on the side of the interstate and was just wondering what experiences other people have had doing this or if it would even be worth the risk?
Personally, I wouldn't come all the way from Phoenix without a ticket. I'm sure you could get one at face or below, but why go through the hassle? I find it stressful just to make it there with all my stuff. I'd be freaked out if I didn't have my ticket on me when I rolled out. Sitting in line without a ticket would make me anxious. (I'm a planner. )

The people selling them down there are always nice and polite, unlike the scalpers at most sporting events/concerts. You can find some cheap, that is a few bucks cheaper, I saw one dude in 08' with a sign saying "Roo Tix 250" and then like a 30 feet down the road another guy with a sign "F... that guy, Roo Tix 245."

From what I've heard it's possible to get 'em quite cheap that way, so if it's a reasonable option for you then go for it but...are you coming from Phoenix?! That's a long way to go without knowing for sure. I don't think I'd want to do that. Just see about getting one from StubHub or something if you want to save a few bucks.
I agree with the general sentiment here. I wouldn't go all that way without one. Then again, haven't they sold tix through a storefront in Manchester (@ the international Will Call pick up location) in the past? If a scalper doesn't work out, that could be an option. That would involve waiting in line, trying to get a cheap, legit ticket and then, failing, getting back out of line, finding the new place, and then getting back in line.....
I am driving in from Phoenix, but, my parents live in West Virginia. I'll be staying a few days there before and after Roo. Like I said, just wondering if anyone had any experience doing this and what the general consensus was.
Also, if anyone has solo tips that weren't in one of the solo for roo threads that would be fantastic. This is definitely one of the biggest solo undertakings I'm going to attempt.
