Aside from FLIPS vs. KEYS... (which im still fking undecided on)... this is my biggest conflict. 1.Wale - Never heard rap live, but im local to DC and still have never seen him. 2.Lotus - A buddy of mine said lotus kills it live. 3.The XX - When someone (forget who) made that thread with all their songs on it, i fell in love.
Lotus, not even close IMO. Wale is cool, but there is way better hip-hop on the lineup this year IMO. I saw The xx at Big Ears: good, but needs some work on the live performance front. Again, just my opinion, but Lotus will be the hot set on the Thursday night.

I'd check out lotus if not for the conflict. They do the whole jamtronica thing pretty well... I actually kinda like them more than sts9 or bisco. They'll probably be the better live band. But I too fell in love with the XX. Can't miss out. But I'm hoping maybe lotus is one of those bands that will play an extended live set? hopefully I can catch enough of them after.
Wale is just... blegh... sounds like general modern commercial rap to me, just can't get into that stuff.
I was gonna split Wale/Lotus upon a friend's suggestion that I check him out - but I can't really get into him. So for me, I'm gonna catch some of The xx, then I'm hoping Lotus plays alllllll night!!

Sorry, but I don't think Lotus will play all night. There are other artists playing on the Lunar Stage that would overlap with those interested in Lotus. Also, Thursday night bands don't typically (and by that I mean "ever") play much longer than their allotted times.
Lunar Stage? Doing nothing? Enlighten us, rather than being negative. You don't have to post in threads you know...
lighten up there buddy. i don't know what i'm doing. i don't like any of those bands. i think my wife is going to force me to see margaret cho at that time. but i won't complain too much since there is nothing else i want to see. that's about the only time all weekend it happens, maybe one other time on sun. every other time i have a couple of things i want to see in every time slot.
I like Wale but he only played 3 songs at Coachella after coming out waaaay late so I'm sticking with XX, I have been listening to them a lot. Hitting up Afrojack and Sharam after then off to the silent disco

I would like to check out the XX because I like their album but I think im going to check out Lotus. Ive been getting into Jamtronica lately and ive heard good things about them so Im going to check them out. Havnt really listened to them much but what ive seen on Youtube has been pretty good so Ill give them a shot.
I love the xx's album, but I plan to only stick around for the beginning of their set. I've seen Lotus twice already, but seeing them play Bonnaroo is just the absolute best setting. I can't miss it.
and yeah, I can't recall Thursday sets normally going late but I'd be surprised if Lotus doesn't keep playing.

I'm seeing Lotus because A) I saw them awhile back and they're badass B) The xx tent is going to be jam packed and I can't get there early enough for a good spot

For me it was between Lotus and Wale. Lotus starts earlier and I doubt Wale will be on schedule so I'm starting at Lotus then moving over to Wale for the whole set and then back to Lotus because I expect them to play later into the night.
Seriously?!? No one's gonna jump on me for not spelling Lotus wrong?
Lotus only has like a dozen fans, so nobody really cares.
As for the topic at hand, go see Wale if you want to jump around and party on your first night at Bonnaroo, The xx if you want a more chill, atmospheric show...or if you're with a guy/gal you plan on nailing that night, because let's face it, The xx make music for f*cking.
Go see Lotus if for some reason you want to hear pointless oontz oontz music that sounds like a third-rate rip off of a band you can hear two nights later, without conflict.
I highly doubt many people will be jumpin' around at a Wale show. I've seen him three times and each time he has only played 3 or 4 songs. The first time he was 2 hours late, the other two times 45 minutes.
I think Lotus is more of a poor man's version of soundtribe than bisco, but in any case, Lotus should be a great time. I've seen them put on a 2 1/2 hour show, but I wouldn't expect that. Maybe they'll jam for an extra half hour.

The xx do not have that much material nor the jamming ability to go over their alotted time. Lotus does, and could- Lez Zeppelin performed 5(ish) more songs after their encore as their crowd doubled when the Vampire Weekend show ended. Pretty sure Dark Star Orch. also went over. Moe and MMJ both have put on 4+ hour shows (albeit on Fri or Sat). My plan is to party, a litte of The xx, a little Lotus, and hopefully Wale is late, Roo wont kick him off after 3 songs, there is no one behind him. The beauty of Bonnaroo tent closers is its theirs to do what they want. I don't see them closing down acts because the Lunar stage is open. Dont sleep on the Doors Doc starting at 345am. Here's to a hell of a Thursday.
