some of the acts i'm most excited to see this year are going to be getting over when the sun is beginning to rise. in the past i was able to stay up late with some party favors. however i never sleep very well at 'roo so i become more and more exhausted as the weekend goes on.
missing these late nights for me is out of the question, however i don't want to be taking too much stuff. i do have a certain scrip for add provided by my doctor that will help. i was more curious if anyone has any more natural remedies or suggestions to give me the power to dance my face off all night.
Sleep in late. Eat a lot of good food that will give you energy (fruits, protein). Take an energy drink or two (the real kind, not the fake stuff). Catch a power nap while you're waiting (I'll probably leave Jay-Z a bit early, head to tents and take an hour or so power nap before Thievery comes on). On Friday, I'll probably skip Kings of Leon and eat/power nap before going to Flaming Lips.
Take it easier during the day if you're specifically looking to party late. Try to take a nap if you have a break where there's nobody you want to see.
i find that 5-hour energy shots work really well without making me feel cracked out. but yeah...pace yourself during the day, and save your energy and party favors for the late night. i am in the same boat and i will be staying up late every night too... flaming lips will be EPIC

What's worked for me... Nap whenever possible. Last year I napped through springsteen and was well rested and had a ton of energy for the NIN set. Headliners are perfect to nap through if you don't mind missing them because it gets nice and cool around that time, plus theres less people in the campground making noise. This year I'll be sleeping through KOL and Stevie (I just can't get excited for him) Also don't party too hard during the day, and don't exert yourself too much. Before the latenights I also take a 5 hour energy and eat a cliff bar. During the day I snack on trail mix- also great to sustain energy
In '08 I was pregnant and was one of the only 2 people in my group who was able to stay up until the end of the Kanye show/sunrise and other latenight shows. So it can really be done without party favors or tons of caffeine.
1. Prioritize. So you miss a headliner, but if your priority is a show at 1am, then prep for it.
2. If you want to be up at night, then don't spend a ton of time in the hot early day sun. The sun will drain you faster than anything else. Wear a hat, choose to see something in a tent, take a midday nap at camp.
3. Drink water, water and water. Keep that system hydrated and flushed.
4. If you do want to use an energy drink or caffeine, take it only at the evening, not all day. Don't drain yourself. Concentrate the times when it is needed.
5. Lots of protein and slow-burning foods. I had cheese sticks, peanut butter and jelly on multigrain bread, granola bars to snack on during the day.
6. Never get super thirsty, super hungry, or super tired. Pace yourself. Small meals before you even feel hunger. Keep yourself at a nice even keel so you don't have your blood sugar jump all over the place.
7. Nap. Nap at a chill show off to the side, go back to camp, gosh I even napped in the beer tent. Nap in 15-minute increments and you will wake refreshed. 30 minutes is actually better than 40, 60 is better than 70. Set a timer on your phone so you don't wake up groggy and off-kilter. Once you wake, drink water to get your body going again without killing it.

Great advice Alie. I've come close to "napping" in the beer tent, but have so far been able to pull myself away in time.
I'm gonna have to try those 5 hour energy drinks. In the past I've used Vivarin, No-Doz, and a certain unmentionable to keep going, but the first two can lead to a sudden crash, and the last is a little expensive.
those 5 hour energy drinks make me sweat... it's strange.
I tried one out this past weekend and I don't know if it was it or something else but I had major nausea, a weird dull headache and was irritable. I can totally drink energy drinks and caffeine and energy-boosting herbal pills and stuff with no issue. I may try again this weekend to see if it was coincidence... for I would rather miss a show than feel like that at Bonnaroo.
I bought a 4 pack of extra strength 5 Hour Energy to bring down (and maybe try one out tomorrow for Starscape). Hopefully itll be ok. Ive used the regular kind before and been ok, I think. The thing is...it suggests half a bottle for moderate strength, and a full bottle for extra. (on both types) Hopefully this'll help me stay up for late nights. I'm a night owl, but if I wake up early and am busy durin the day, I wont have a ton of energy without some kinda help.

I have two five hour energies...one for friday night and one for saturday night. They don't bug me...I eat pretty healthy and work out a lot and when I take those energy drinks they don't affect me other than keeping me up. My advice though... other than lots of water... Get a good night sleep Wednesday...don't stay at the Lunar Stage till 430am Thursday night either...be rested for Friday and Saturday...those are the marathon days!

I am never able to sleep past around 7am, so I try to nap later in the day or evening. I have found shady spots in Centeroo in the middle of the day and just napped on the grass, or sometimes (during Bruce last year) I go back to the tent for a more substantial nap.

I'm right with pondo. The cinema tent is a great place to catch some zzzs. We also tried out the trees by which stage and a few other shaded places in between This and That tent. There's actually more shade over there compared to camp. I definitely agree, keep your body sober and hydrated while the oppressive sun is up.
Don't take anything caffeine-based early on in the day - it dehydrates the hell out of your system. And start the day with Gatorade/Powerade/whatever sports drink does it for you - they'll restore your body with electrolytes and help rehydrate your system.
My husband works for People's Inc. Sometimes he takes a shift at one group home and then goes a second group home for an overnight shift. He loves those 5 hour energy drinks. They don't make him jittery or sketchy. He doesn't even like coffee because it makes his heart beat too fast.
Okay I am trying out another 5-hour energy today. It's been over 2 hours and I feel fine. I don't feel nauseous like last weekend, not jittery, just myself but not sleepy. Think these will be money for next weekend at The Farm! Yay!

Sleep during KOL, then stay awake the rest of the weekend on pure excitement and adrenaline. If you get tired and need me to chase you around centeroo banging some pots and pans together, let me know. I'd totally do that for any of you fine, fine people.
yes, my KOLzzzs are going to be divine seriously, though. daytime drinking in heat usually does me in pretty well so I think I will need to refrain. Although sounds like some tasty treats to sip on at the brunch so that plan may be all shot to hell for Friday...lol. My KOL nap will be my salvation that night.
As for the rest of the weekend, I've got to plan some catnaps. but I bought some 5 hour energyshots to pack just in case. I have used that once recently at another small festival I went to and it worked great, did not make me feel jittery.
