Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
you guys are quacking stupid. have you ever been to a different music festival? they aren't like bonnaroo, let me tell you. firstly they don't have you stupid quacks running around them thinking they're so quacking cool. bonnaroo is ruined. it has been overrun with cops and silly little 16 year old kids. quack bonnaroo.
lol. your anger makes me laugh.
plenty of people here have been to PLENTY of different music festivals. even if they've only been to roo.....that doesn't make them stupid.
who/where were the "stupid quacks running around, thinking they are so quacking cool"?
cops and 16 year olds have been to Bonnaroo for years. when you are bringing 70,000+ people to one location you kinda need to make sure there is an authority presence or else all hell could break loose. look at woodstock 99.

A couple random notes from my experience this weekend: I had to dump out my camelback multiple times entering centeroo. I've never had to do that in the past. Late Friday night the fountains had almost 0 water pressure. It took me close to 10 minutes to fill up my camelback. Literally every neighbor we had either got arrested or at least had something taken from them.

My mind is blown that you people are just like "whatever" to actual deputy sheriffs practically raiding the campgrounds. You think "oh only the dumb and unlucky people get caught." No. It's not like that. I used to think like that too until i witnessed all of it go down this year. If you think i'm full of shit it really doesn't bother me because i know what i saw going down all of friday night and saturday night and a little sunday too. When the sheriffs came to our camping spot we weren't doing anything at all to attract attention. We weren't being loud, we weren't selling/buying anything, we weren't even drinking, we weren't smoking pot, nothing at all. You know why they came there? Because they were literally walking around all camp spots in our areas repetitively looking for anyone with a pipe, baggies, pot, anything and everything that could possibly be drug-related in their hands and then going up to them and taking it, hassling them, searching them, and even sometimes arresting them. If you think that's cool, you need to go to another festival because that is NOT how other festival grounds are. I understand busting people that are being obvious, but for fuck's sake, something is wrong when you can't smoke a bowl at your own campsite without being paranoid at a MUSIC FESTIVAL. For the record they literally walked under our shade canopy and shined their flashlights in all of our stuff before even noticing a little bag. There is no reason for that. You people who pull the "you just come here to do drugs" stuff make me sick. No i don't, but many people do use them at festivals because normally it is the one place you don't have to worry and can be free about it, as was bonnaroo 4 or 5 years ago. Honestly, at a music festivals with the line-up including artists like bassnectar and the disco biscuits, you should expect people to be hanging out with molly and lucy. Have you ever noticed that most people who went to roo the first 3 or 4 years have stopped going? Hmmmmm..... I know i should have got videos of all of this, which i thought about doing, because some of you people will defend bonnaroo forever, until you see it too. Seriously, any real head would agree with this. Which is why the only real heads at the fest are vendors making bank off all of you blind custies or making even more bank selling you custies weak shit at high prices. It's the truth. I've been on the road, and been to more festivals and shows than most people have, i pay attention to stuff.
Compare this to wakarusa, another decent sized festival. Ran much more efficiently. Getting tickets was easy, going through the searches was easy, the searches through the gates to the stage were short and sweet as were the waits. The porto's were nicer. I didn't see any cops there. They only care about glass bottles. I never saw anyone getting hassled. Bonnaroo is twisted, if you expand yourself to going to other festivals, you'll notice too.

Well this is a very constructive and helpful post. Instead of trying to fix things, you bitch, complain, insult us, and run away.
Thank You, have a nice day.
I have more important things to do with my time. Like help a family that lost their son.

They've probably done this all along but it was the first year I actually noticed medical personnel giving out bottles of water to thirsty festies as they made their were moving throughout the grounds. Also I witnessed several and personally benefitted by one instance of people in vip viewing areas (guests, not staff) giving away bottles of water which were provided there as a perk of their upgraded ticket. If I was going to complain about anything it would be the 7 hour wait (twice as long as I had ever experienced in my previous 4 attendances) to get in on Thursday or the terrifying state of the portolets on Friday morning. Fortunately it wasn't a sign of how things were going to be this year with United exclusively running that aspect.
i'm making the assumption this was your first bonnaroo, right itrainmonkeys?
when you assume.....you just make an ass out of "U" and "ME".
this year was the first year I had to miss. I've been going since '05 and on these boards for almost that long. most of these complaints are made after the festival EVERY YEAR.

Wakarusa =/= Bonnaroo
Waka = 15,000 people max
Roo = 70,000+ people
There's a bit of a difference there. So of course the logistics, searches, security, and hassle getting in will be different.

I never saw a single cop inside the camp grounds or centeroo. I rarely saw mounties on horses unless they were blowing their whistles at people cutting in line. Great Roo. Go troll somewhere else. I agree with ITM, smaller festivals are more laid back. But you seriously have to be an idiot to get busted there.

Um, I'm glad I never ran into you at Waka....and don't go back to Waka either...we don't really want your bad vibes ruining that magical mountain
I know you guys are pissed because im pissed..... this year sucks.... and yes waka is smaller but they moved it to arkansas to get it off of public land so cops would go away.... all though one of my friends got in trouble because there is a national forrest behind waka and cops were there. but cops are not at waka because it smaller you peice of leno......... obviously you never heard of what happened at waka in 06 when it was only 10,000... shit was ridiculous... i have never really seen cops at roo untill this year.... that is to much man... and to hear that they were in people's campsite... that's bullshit... they did stay away from campsite one so i stayed safe.... The reason ITM filled at home is because DAVE came back and it was the same vibe..... QUACK all the frat kids..... people have been pushing to the front more and more since 2007 ( not my first year ethier just know it was easy to run through crowds that year).... this year people feel the need to pack the front and STAND!!!!!! NO DANCING under the tent for most shows (and if you say there was then ur a tard..... bobbing your head and bouncing is not dancing!!!!!!!!) people were running and shoving there way through a ridiculously packed deadmau5 show and it was to much.... i remember a post from a mexican kid who said that they do this because it was part of their culture but first time he did it at roo everyone just looked at him and he relized how rude it was and we were not like this.... well i saw too much of this from the crowd and everyone else just started shoving more.... reminded me of all the stupid frat quacks that go to my local mid size venue.......Quack Dave.... Quack the Frat kids!!!!!!!! never been the same since 03.... reason? best explained by asigh a bunch of hippies made........... "DMB killed BONNAROO" Never have i ever heard people making fun of others at bonnaroo for pure enjoyment..... Its a shame..... and if i hear buttscracher one more time i will flip on someone......... shit was funny years ago.... let it go.... EVERYONE thought they were so damn funny..... i heard so manny people say shit like i started that.... who gives a quack..... to many tools at roo this year... like they had to be king of roo.... and dont try to tell me that there was not more frat tools this year then at least 02, 03, 06, 07, 09....... i didnt want to believe it either... i always defended roo when all my friends would say roo sold out, but now i can;t...... this year sucked........ sorry you all had a good time...... stay at roo and enjoy your douchy trend, because that's what it is..... i never meet so many first timers.... no wonder people quiet coming back.....
Roo is all about being smart and knowing how to handle yourself. This was our fourth year and we didn't have any trouble at all with the security. Our car was barely searched on the way in, and I can't speak for car-camping since we do tent-only every year, but we got into centeroo with glowsticks, open water bottles, and party favors all weekend. The security dude was right: it is easy as hell to get stuff inside, you just have to be observant and know where they aren't going to look.
People complain like this every year. I'm sad you didn't have fun, but I did, and I'm thankful to Superfly for giving me the opportunity to have fun and listen to good music around 70,000 other people who want to do the same.
On my first trip into centeroo i was told that I had to much food and water, wether or not these limits have been around for a while, it was never enforced for me. I talked to the security supervisor that was around and was told the limit was 1 water bottle per person and a small snack which. He could not define a small snack at all. He said something along the lines of these rules were in place because vendors pay a lot to be there so we should have to buy food from them if we want to eat.
I really don't see the problem here. They've always had rules about bringing food in and usually only allow one or two water bottles. It usually depended on who you got searching you when entering. Many festivals don't allow more than a water bottle and small snack.
The water issue was very big for me. I had to what almost 30 minutes to fill up once. The water mushroom things were very slow also and it took 10 minutes just to fill a few water bottles once I was at a spout. In the heat quick access is very important for safety reasons.
Valid complaint. Not really what you want to see....especially when they advertise that there are free water fill-up spots but when you get there they aren't very adequate. I'd hope that they increase the number and quality of stations next year....but we'll see if that happens.
I felt some of the advertising such as the chase tent started pushing the limit of what intrudes onto the bonnaroo experience. Another example of this was shutting down the fuse barn for a contest and basicly turning it into a twix ad.
Can you explain a little more........like how specifically did the chase tent push the limit? I don't know. I wasn't there and don't know what the chase tent was. I know in the past they've shut down the fuse barn to do contests so I don't see a big problem there. I haven't had problems with the advertisers in the past while some people seemed to dislike them.
Many of the performances I saw this year were very lackluster and underwhelming. The crowds also seemed very unexcited at many of the shows.
I've been reading that it was one of the hotter bonnaroos of the last few years. That always has an effect on crowds. Maybe you just caught bad shows or were in a bad spot. I know I didn't enjoy Bon Iver a year ago but I was stuck outside of the tent with crappy audio and a lot of people talked about that being a top show.
Also about the NO NO WORD!!! thing, it happens and it obviously has a big effect on the festival. Those who say its not an important part I disagree with. Wether its the NO NO WORD!!! themselves or just the culture of the people who do them, years with more seem to have friendlier people and more excitement. This year instead of cool, interesting, open minded, some hippieish people, I met mostly fratty guys who would rather play beer pong than see most of the shows. Multiple bands I saw even noticed and commented on this. The flips said multiple times it seemed like there wasnt enough weed smoke.
Can't really comment on this as I wasn't there. A lot of people complain about the frat boy presence every year and I tend to try and avoid judging someone based on how they're dressed or how they are enjoying themselves at an event they paid money to attend. As long as they aren't harming me then there's no problems. If they don't want to go see the shows.....so be it. More room for the people that do.
I'm sure there was a lot of weed smoke.....even if Flips did comment on it. There's always lots of weed smoke at roo
Edit: Also the porta potties were significantly grosser and less cleaned this year than the other 2 ive been to. Also although I did enjoy it, the lunar stage was obviously last minute. The sound bleed was ridiculous and I saw a few djs having problems setting up cause staff had no idea what to do
Don't know what would have caused that problem. I know sometimes in the past the weather would make it hard for the trucks to get to some porta potties but it seems like you're not alone in the experiencing gross porta potties. That really sucks and hopefully not everyone dealt with the same situation.
I heard the same complaints about the lunar stage and sound bleed. Kinda crappy.

I didnt see any police presence in pod 6, where i was camped, so I'll just say thats all I can comment on with regards to that.
But I actually thought centeroo searches were much breezier this year. I dont think my backpack got much more than a glance or pockets more than a tap even once. And I ALWAYS carried in a pack with 3-4 bottles of water, tp,camera, and various other random items i might need. Once I even realized on a last minute trip to centeroo I had someting I shouldnt with me as I pulled stuff out of my pockets for em'. I cupped it in my hand behind my cigs, lighter, etc and while nervous breezed right through.
Oh...and the security guard yelling to people to "be creative" was hilarious. Laid it all out for you. "I dont want your shit but if I find it I have to take it.....there are places we arent looking....be creative! or take it back to camp...please." And because he had me laughing, when I got up there I simply say "hey" to him and asked him how he was doing...and he just tapped me on the shoulder and told another guy "I checked him he's good....her too" and waved us thru without so much as a glance. Not saying some people didnt get hassled.....but it was my breeziest entries into centeroo ever. It's easy really....pick a fast moving line, have your shit out and ready instead of makin em' work for it, and be smart and realize where they don't look.
I did notice the crowd seemed VERY young this year....but I just credited that to the fact that even though I dont want to admit it...I guess I am getting old. But hell....the number of people that 'looked' 14-17 did suprise me....especially at late nights all messed up. I am not that old dammit! am I?
i have no complaints about security.... my shit never got searched.... but i did once carded when buying a piece.... but cops were riding up and down the street that T's with 3rd ave..... and were all around pod 9 and such.... lucky for me, i was in one.... but unlike everyone else that is saying shit about secrurity is only talking about centeroo and areas around that..... apparently most of you didnt walk around.... once again i was in pod one and saw no cops there or near centeroo, searches THERE were not bad, unlucky for those out away because i saw cops roaming around and i got scared walking out there... and i was just walking....
oh and sorry ITM, didnt mean that you were a frat kid...... just read what i wrote and it sounded like i was to me, just wanted to clarify....
I didn't really understand your initial post. Don't know what you were trying to say about me but I do know this: I didn't skip Roo this year because I wanted to. I wanted to be there and wanted to see all the headliners and tons of other acts.......but I have good reasons as to why I didn't go this year. I plan on coming back next year.
i have no complaints about security.... my Leno never got searched.... but i did once carded when buying a piece.... but cops were riding up and down the street that T's with 3rd ave..... and were all around pod 9 and such..
Yep. Pod 9 is where i was camped, and the cops were definitely around. Armed.
nothing bad about u monkey, i know u skipped this year and u made a good choice..... i hate to judge others and usually dont mind the frat kids........ untill they start pushing in on my space and dont dance just stand RIGHT in front of me.... im short as it is and cant see, i dont need no tall quacker pushing his way through the crowd just to STAND right in front of me, ive never had to say anything to anyone at roo but i had been waiting for close to an hour standing in the same spot when this guy keeps backing up into me, my mind frame was going sour be this point as it was... then he was a dick about it...... oh by the way ITM, DR DOG was AMAZYING!!!!!!!!!!!! to many kids standing around talking but they sounded good and rocked it hard! diff my sec fav dr dog show..... only if they would have closed a tent would it have been better!

I see this happen every year... some newbies have imaginary expectations that of course are not met, they get mad and vent on here and call us all custies as if it's shameful to be a productive member of society who enjoys live music. I didn't get hassled once by anyone. In fact, I've never been hassled by bonnaroo staff or the police except for once in 2008, and I take full responsibility for bringing it on myself. It wasn't a mythical beast or ghost of Jerry Garcia who put all the beers in the backpack that I snuck into centeroo. It was me who did it, and me who got in trouble for it. I've been all 9 years and I don't ever expect everything on the farm to be perfect. I don't expect the "scene" or "vibe" to fit to my preconceptions, I don't expect everything to be run with military precision. I show up prepared for anything, and have fun regardless of any hurdles I have to jump.

My two cents:
The worst experience I had this year was with the traffic coming in. I got in the line on the interstate at 7:30 am on Thursday. Other years it has taken 3-5 hours to get to camp. This year it took 12...yes 12 hours...My GPS keeps track of moving time and completely stopped time. In 12 hours time, I sat completely still for 8 hours and was moving for 4! I missed 95% of the acts on Thursday because of the traffic situation. The Tennessee State Police only made it worse.
I have to agree with the frat boys and high school kids. It does seem that the scene gets worse every year. I also experienced the "Theres 15,000 other people at the show and I just got here 15 minutes after it started but I feel like I'm obligated to push my way to the front" mentality. Common sense and respect has been lost with this new generation and it is truly sad.
I did not personally view any theft or drug busts (aside from the increased number of cars DTF were searching at the toll booths). That being said I'm not denying that either occured (I'm sure both did). I like to think I'm smart about these things and try not to bring anything on myself by doing stupid things. Just remember that if something seems fishy then it probably is. Keep your valuables locked up or in your visual site at all times.
Again, not saying it didn't happen but I had no problems getting into Centeroo with a full camelbak/snacks/bottles of water/my all natural plants and pipe.
PONDO - I spotted you many times this weekend but was never close enough to say hello! Looked around at GWAR and saw those horns in the middle of the crowd! Hopefully I'll get to meet ya next year!
All and all I'm not going to let ANYTHING mess with my good time on the farm. Sure there were some bummer moments, but for me its all about the music. And the music was amazing!
nothing bad about u monkey, i know u skipped this year and u made a good choice
Wasn't by choice. I wanted to go. Real life issues came up.
..... i hate to judge others and usually dont mind the frat kids........ untill they start pushing in on my space and dont dance just stand RIGHT in front of me.... im short as it is and cant see, i dont need no tall quacker pushing his way through the crowd just to STAND right in front of me, ive never had to say anything to anyone at roo but i had been waiting for close to an hour standing in the same spot when this guy keeps backing up into me, my mind frame was going sour be this point as it was... then he was a smurf about it...... oh by the way ITM, DR DOG was AMAZYING!!!!!!!!!!!! to many kids standing around talking but they sounded good and rocked it hard! diff my sec fav dr dog show..... only if they would have closed a tent would it have been better!
Glad Dr. Dog was good. I had to miss them at Mountain Jam cuz they canceled (Zach was sick) so I was bummed about that. I heard some really good things about their show at roo. Read a good review somewhere. They're awesome. I'd love for them to have a late night or at least close a tent.
"I see this happen every year... some newbies have imaginary expectations that of course are not met, they get mad and vent on here and call us all custies as if it's shameful to be a productive member of society who enjoys live music."
all i can say is lol...... i really hope this statement wasnt directed towards me...... because if it was then maybe you should re-read ALL my post again... been doing this for a while now and long time gone since a noob dude........ and roo and my only festi either.... i dont hit up just festi's either you jackass, calling people non contributing memebers of live music.... i hit up shows from local stuff all the way to traveling across america and then some....... next time u wanna start using words like noob you better make sure you know the person a little bit better then just glancing at some post.... you think you are some roo god and that makes you no different then all those douchy kids who make comments like i started that or say Leno just to be cool.....who cares how many roos you've been too.... and as for paying attention to the vibe that is sad...... because it ruined my time... maybe you were just to spun to care....
and yes Dr. Dog late night would be epic.... light show would have been crazy had it been at night.... i will be back when dr. dog comes back, that is one thing that i would come back to the farm to see.....

I didn't have any problems with security, but a friend saw a guy getting searched and arrested in a campsite.
However, I am appalled that some of you just pass it off as nothing while saying that you do the very things that they are getting arrested for. Sure, maybe you could say that if you didn't do any of that, but come on, If you had been hassled or arrested(which you obviously could have been) then you would be complaining just like the others.
With them searching campsites its not as if it was only sellers, but just people having a little fun that music festivals are known for. Sure, saying Bonnaroo is shit now is pointless and taking it too far, but at a music festival you shouldn't be hassled more than you would if you were doing the same thing really anywhere else.
And god who cares if theres Frat boys there... it seems to me that they deserve to be there more because the ones I came across were enjoying the shows more than most and never complained about someone acting like a hippy.
wow bennyc that really hurt...... it tears me apart that you will not miss me.... what a shame.... and im glad you know the scheduling habbits of bonnaroo. though i hope they are not like your reading skills..... i said if they are on the farm.... not just late night.... why post anything at all benny? are you wanna those kids who has to say something just to be cool? is that why my post bother you?
