This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

I seriously doubt they are sitting around debating "should we get Arcade Fire or Phish."
There is a market for both, but I don't think they are competing with each other for headlining status. Its conceivable that both bands could be there. If Arcade Fire is there, they won't be headlining Sunday, if Phish is there I would be surprised if they didn't headline Sunday.
You can't really compare the two because their styles are too different. Phish is undoubtedly more talented when it comes to instruments, I would give Arcade Fire the vocal edge, and when it comes to songwriting and performing, its debatable, depending on style preferences

I'd like to see them both there.
I don't really have a real preference for the Friday headliner since I don't see MMJ moving up into that spot (although I would be very pleasantly surprised if that was the case). And I don't see Outkast as a realistic possibility. So an Arcade Fire/Radiohead/Phish top line is fine by me, depending on Neil of course.
If the top line is Radiohead/Phish/Arcade Fire, I am definitely happy and I think it is realistic. In that top line, I think Neil Young and Daft Punk could still appear.
If the original question was would you rather have Phish OR Arcade Fire, I would go with Arcade Fire. But it is close and I would love to see both.
Ok, lots of points against Wilco, but I stand by my band. If kings can headline, Wilco should too.
But can I hear some love for a Talking Heads reunion? Not likely, I know, but there is no other act that I can think of that would create a bigger buzz.

If Neil is there Arcade Fire will not be headlining, and quite honestly I still do not see them as headliner material.
A Talking Heads reunion would just be another pathetic cash grab. Just give us David Byrne again.
No, give me Talking Heads reunion over David Byrne solo any day. And I don't think it'd be a cash grab necessarily. Mr. Byrne won't get back with the rest of the band for money. Otherwise he probably would have already.
But I would still be happy as hell with David Byrne solo at 'Roo this summer.

You are crazy then. In your own world.
Arcade Fire will either close out the which, or have a big latenight on it. I understand that the people who like them like them a lot, but they have nowhere near the mass appeal needed to headline.
I am a massive AF fan and I agree with Wolfman. If they play they will be between 4 and 6 on the lineup and will probably be in one of the two spots wolfman suggested or preheadline on the What.
arcade fire is pretentious indie crap** if you're into that stuff, good for you and your hipness. but for the 10th anniversary of Bonnaroo if they don't do better than that for a headliner color me disappointed. an epic ln would be nice for them but they do not need to be a headliner. come on.
**(i don't mean crap THAT offensively. think of it in the context of "i'm gonna go get my crap out of the car". it's not necessarily derogatory, but it does acknowledge that it is somewhat throwaway-able. "stuff" wouldn't have gotten the point across that i think they're highly overrated, and "sh*t" would've been waaay too harsh.

Am I the only one who doesn't think Neil Young solo is a headliner? I think he's a preheadliner on What for Friday or Saturday. But if he was with Crazy Horse, then yes, he can headline.
And I don't think Arcade Fire is a headliner yet. And no, they're not tools, just dorks.

I would think a Neil solo show would headline, but only if it was non acoustic and he had a ton of guests.
Friday Night: Levon Helm --> Elton John --> Simon and Garfunkel --> The Arcade Fire (LN)
Saturday Night The Shins --> Modest Mouse --> The Talking Heads --> Radiohead (LN)
Sunday Night Eddie Vedder and Liam Finn --> The Allman Brothers Band --> Neil Young and Friends
Would there be any opposition to this lineup as it sits?
Top of the bill would look like: The Talking Heads, Radiohead, Neil Young, Daft Punk, Simon and Garfunkel, and Arcade Fire
Add in Darius Rucker, The Avett Brothers, Chali 2na, Drake, Fear Factory, the Deftones, Two Gallants, The Tallest Man on Earth, Explosions in the Sky, and Ghostland Observatory to round out the bill
I have no opposition, but you do have like 9 headliners on there. So that lineup isn't close to being possible. And no there will not be a thursday headliner or ln on any stage. Thursday will remain tent only.
As much as I would love to have Talking Heads reunite, it is more than likely not to happen. David Byrne said about them playing together again "We did have a lot of bad blood go down. That's one reason, and another is that musically we're just miles apart." Also, Weymouth said that David Byrne is "a man incapable of returning friendship". Just saying...

The band I would like to see reunite and play is The Kinks, there is getting to be more and more buzz about them getting back together. It is not a done deal but looking more and more likely. If nothing else if Bonnaroo got the Kinks, and Coachella did not watching their board melt down would be highly entertaining.

I'm not sure how the Coachies would feel about that. They aren't too big on classic rock. A lot of those weirdos didn't even like Macca.
Yeah, but a big reunion from a band that has never had a popularity level to equal their musical influence in the states would get them drooling though I bet.
