Totally unrelated, but what was the final officlal Pavement show of the reunion tour? Because they haven't really made it a huge deal out of it, so I was just wondering if there were anymore shows coming up. But I guess that's typical Pavement, to be super discrete and not make a big deal out of it.
I saw Modest Mouse at the Disco Rodeo early in 09 (without Marr, thank god)... fucking awesome show. Setlist wasn't cluttered with garbage from the last album, the performances were spot on with some cool jamming here and there, the band's energy was off the charts, Brock broke up a fight in the crowd shortly after the show... just an awesome time, didn't hurt that I was with some of my best friends and we were partying it up all day.
I'd like to see them at Roo, but I have heard from some of my friends who've seen them multiple times that they are incredibly inconsistent live. I'll give it a a shot if they come to the farm, for sure.
When they busted out "Styrofoam Boots", man I lost it. It was hot as hell in there... for the record, I hated that venue. And I may have been imagining things, but there were lots of young'ns there... like middle school looking kids. Odd, I thought.
It's fine if you are able to get in the elevated pit area. If you get stuck outside there, though, you're quacked. But yeah, for the most part, pretty shitty venue.
I'm wondering where all the Modest Mouse speculation is coming from. Especially considering it's been like 4 years since they've released an album, just wrapped up a long tour and haven't even started on a new album.
That said, if it happens, give them a long set late-night. That would own so hard and solve their complaint about not getting enough time to show what the band is about at festivals. They are usually bored and uninspired at festivals especially when they have to play during the day.
They have worked on some stuff for the new album, I have no idea what kind of outlook there is for the completion/release of it though. I have heard polar opposite reviews of their live show. I enjoyed the footage I saw from their Outside Lands performance and as a fan of the music, I'd like to see them.
And I'm not a fan of the Disco Rodeo either. Seemed like it had some potential, but my view was lame and there was nowhere to go.
Modest Mouse is an incredible live band...indoors. Their sound isn't tailored to festivals or outdoor venues.
I have to disagree. While 80/35 is a very small festival, they headlined this year's along with Spoon. Modest Mouse rocked the Sunday close spot in a beautiful, rainy set that night.
I think they could do well on Which during the day or an afternoon in a Tent.

I'd say late night tent or which pre-closer.
I saw Modest Mouse in Montreal in 2009 as well and they ruled. Had a really good set-list and they were really into it and having fun. Crowd was going crazy.
No, man, you're thinking of Old Bearded Jam Band. They're not playing Roo anymore because Rude Assey Hip Hop Guy pissed them off.
Posts like this make me love you, despite you being a dirty Alabama fan.
And on Modest Mouse-- I've seen them 5 times and never been disappointed, in and outside. Although, I'm with Karosko, they're better suited indoors, for whatever reason.

Here is what they said about the possibility of playing more shows. From their Wiki page:
In an interview with Las Vegas Weekly, Malkmus addressed the possibility of the band continuing beyond their 2010 tour:
"No, we’re sticking to our guns and what we promised, even though it has been fun. Anyone who bought a ticket to see us, I don’t want them to have paid these slightly higher prices to see us and then have us right back there again—it’s just disingenuous. And we want to keep it fun."
I guess its possible they could change their mind at some point and play more shows, but I wouldnt count on it.
Does anyone know how Bonnaroo missed the chance to book quacking Pavement, anyway?? I mean, come on. I was pretty surprised when they weren't on the lineup.
They dropped the ball on that one. They were tremendous when I saw them the next week in Toronto.
Got to a couple of the Central Park shows and was very impressed. I'm glad they did the tour so folks like us that were younger during their heyday got to see them.
