^^word up...even though pink floyd does kinda rule
^x4
Bonnaroo is over and the general idiocy fun, tongue-in-cheek, half-assed speculation that some people take too seriously that permeates this board ten months out of the year has been restored. All is as it should be.
I can tell this even though I just joined this board a few months ago. Lighten up, dude. People are just having fun and getting excited about the possibilities.
It's hard to argue against the Talking Heads. Of course, to me, no way. Pink Floyd > Talking Heads. Although, something I know we both can agree on... Rick Astley > Pink Floyd
Yes, Floyd will not happen. Wright is gone, the band is done. Talking Heads is actually somewhat feasible, considering they are at least alive. How about we meet in the middle and say next year we're getting the Talking Heads and The Machine late night Thursday?

I would be down for Pigs on the Wing (David Murphy from STS9 PF cover band) They Cover animals in full for the first set and then come back with a second set of other PF songs. They are actually quite good and would be awesome for a thursday night set (once the sun goes down) then sts9 could play on friday late night.

The Machine Thursday 4 hour latenight was actually the best show of the weekend, I thought, at Vibes last summer.
But the standard at Bonnaroo should be held above tribute bands, I agree. And as a personal point of reference, Lez Zep in 2008 was once of the worst tributes I've ever experienced, and I was excited about them before it started.
But if the Machine DID play... I'd probably be there and ready for an epic night, depending on conflicts... seen them over a dozen times easy, and they really are the masters of the Faux Floyd

The Machine are not an ordinary cover band...they make Floyd their own, and when the added their new keyboardist a few years ago, they really began to jam out their songs quite a bit. They'd be fantastic at Bonnaroo ( and they did play Roo some time before 06.)
Post Syd Barrett Pink Floyd is incredibly overrated.
wow, i thought i was the only one who had this opinion.
the wall is a lot of garbage, and DSOTM (even though i now have a new respect for it) isnt on the same level as Wish You Were Here despite getting twice the hype.
As far as Mr. Byrne comin' back next year, while I'd love to see it I doubt it unless he has a new album of his own original material (not the one he just released with tons of guests).
