Does anyone who's been on here forever like me remember back in 2004 when we made the Cicadaroo shirts? I have a picture from when we all met up that year. I'll have to find and post it.

If these are anything like the Cicadas in the south of France then as soon as the sun goes down they go quite. During the hot months of the summer there you have to yell to the person next to you during the day they are so loud. It seems the hotter it gets the louder that they get. As soon as it gets dark there however, it's like magic and they all shut up.
while I was watching Jade's video and I leaned over and my ID work badge touched my knee....I jumped a mile.
I'm not sure what to think of all this. I'm on the tip of the map but I have never seen a swarm of cicadas. I gotta tell ya, I'm not thrilled for Cicadaroo 2011....but I will take 2 t-shirts and some MMJ, please.

FYI: We get them in Ohio too.... In many cultures around the world, people eat cicadas, too. The ancient Greeks considered cicadas a delicacy. Many tribes of Native Americans ate cicadas both before and after the colonists arrived. Cicadas are eaten in Australia, Thailand, Papua New Guinea, and Japan. In the society section of the June 2, 1902 Cincinnati Enquirer, an account was given of a party where cicada-rhubarb pie was served. In 1987 in Cincinnati a number of people took the opportunity to try batter-dipped, deep-fried cicadas or cicada stir fry and a certain radio station enraged a certain pizza company. Ironically, in 2004, that pizza company resurrected their own version of the song! In 1990 in Chicago, cicada-eating was so popular that it made the pages of Time Magazine. Just make sure the neighbors haven’t been using insecticide. A Web search for “cicada” and “recipe” will turn up quite a number of pertinent Web pages.

The ones here make noise all night, or at least they did last time.
Yeah I had to deal with them last time they came around when I still lived in middle-of-nowhere PA, and everytime I walked anywhere it was like walking across a field of buzzing potato chips crunching beneath my feet.

Was just that like in my hometown of Reston, VA a few years back. It's pretty gross.
haha no.. they will just sound louder and more constant then let's say.. the generators on the farm. I'm sure the Lunar Stage will make you forget they are even there
