Their 09 set completely changed my opinion of them and made me a fan. With a new album in the works, I would love another mid day to evening set.
New Decemberists Album Could Drop By FebruaryDecemberist fans, look out! The Decemberists have been hard at work on their forthcoming sixth album, collaborating with R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck. Although the band’s publicist cannot confirm a release date, R.E.M.’s official website says it could drop as early as February 2011.
Buck is working with the group for three of the new songs, currently being recorded in a tricked out barn in Portland, OR. Frontman Colin Meloy recently tweeted “To recap: we’re making a record. in a barn. festooned with wicker.” Rustic, dude!

.... you must have had a different spot than me, I love most their albums but the biggest mistake I've ever made in festival history has been choosing decemberists over mars volta that year. I'm glad I bailed after 5 songs and got to see half an hour or mv.
After writing them off in 07 and hearing about how good they were in 09, I'd be interested in seeing them next year. Though I don't expect a return so soon, if they do they may as well be considered Roo favorites, with 3 appearances in 5 years.
i would like to see them since i missed them before. i didn't get into them until after roo 09. actually when i got the dvd. i liked that performance so much that i got their cd after that.

^^Yeah, I used to like them a lot, and I don't hate them now, I was mostly just fucking around. Then the kid who started this thread got really douchey about it so I messed with him some more.
I really don't care whether or not The Decemberists play. If there was no other good shows happening, I'd see them.
Yes, I clearly got "douchey" by posting a photo and making light of the fact they would be a mid-level act, playing in a tent again. You of course, have not posted photos and have offered deep insight into this thread.I was clearly out of line and the methods you took, along with "stfu", proves how rude I was through out this entire thread. My apologies.

Of course he's going to butcher Sam Cooke. Don't know why he ever thought it was a good idea to try, but that doesn't really have much to do with the band The Decemberists. His vocals work very well in the context of the band's muzack.
