Never been to Coachella. Do they have something similar to the Sonic & Solar stages and the Cafe's? More intimate performance venues? Besides the ones featuring Jeff Goldblum, I mean...
from what i understand in years past they've have small stages in the campgrounds for djs after hours but i didn't find that/hear about it this year.
Yeah usually it's set up on the camp grounds. I think they didn't do it this year because so many people were sneaking on the camp grounds last year to party...it went until around 3 or so

If Radiohead tours North America next summer, I would be surprised if they didn't headline at least 2 out of the big 4 US festivals, regardless of whether or not they've played those particular festivals before. There's not another active band that can claim to have the same combination of popularity and critical respect, and a festival organizer would be crazy to pass on an opportunity to have them. It's become pretty obvious in recent years that there's a pretty small pool of artists capable of headlining major festivals, so I doubt anybody is going to care if they repeat a festival they've already played before.
Not to clog up the coachella thread but since its kinda derailed already....am I the only one that feels like besides the visuals its pretty boring?
I have seen Shpongle twice, though without the Shpongletron. The first time it was ok, though I am not a big fan of bands that try to scare you after psychedelics have been ingested. The second time however was flat out boring, posford is the definition of a button pusher DJ. Literally all he does is press buttons and wave his finger beside the feather in his cap. I might go so I can check out the Shpongletron, but I do not see myself staying long. Also as far as I can tell show up late if you want the the first 15 minutes is essentially Phillip Glass style ambient crap.

What is the 4th in the 4 big ones?

I place responsibility for that with the ingester in the audience, not the artist onstage. You suggest that the temperature of the kitchen be turned down for everyone on account of the few who can't take the heat? I disagree with that myself.
Bonnaroo Coachella Lollapalooza Austin City Limits
That would be my Big Four. ACL & Lolla share a similar attendance capacity and city park location - giving them similar size, layout, and operation. This could have something to do with the fact that ACL & Lolla are both put on by the same company. That fact might also explain some of the overlap between the two festivals as well. Both of these festivals consistently feature comparable headliners as those you'd see at Bonnaroo or Coachella. I think any assessment of the big destination festivals in this country that includes one while omitting the other is remiss.

I didn't suggest they turn it down, I said I am not a fan. I actually get the giggles at the "Now entering the xx layer of hell" parts. Some people really dig on that stuff and it is fine with me. However even people who like it, are not going to be scared seeing the same thing for a second time. The two times I have seen them (two different years mind you) the show has been exactly the same down to posfords feather.
